  1. Hello all, I've been working on this as a side project for a while now. If you're one of the 5 people in the world who uses Linux , and EScribe is the last thing you keep Windows for, well, here you go. I expect this will have bugs and broken functionality. Please let me know what you run into. Also, I don't use Linux on a daily basis, so if anything seems unnatural to you relative to ordinary Linux look-and-feel, please mention that as well. https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupEScribe2_SP67_US.run https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupEScribe2_SP67_INT.run The installer is for 64-bit Linux running on x86 processors (Intel / AMD) and ARM (Raspberry Pi). For this to work, you will need installed on your computer: (1) Mono, (2) Mono's certificate store, (3) GTK 2, and (4) GTK Sharp 2. On Debian or Ubuntu, the packages are: (1) mono-complete, (2) ca-certificates-mono, (3) libgtk2.0-0, and (4) gtk-sharp2. Enjoy James Known bugs: ECigStats does not support starting at login. Notes: EScribe Suite *can* run without Mono's certificate store installed, but ECigStats may be unable to synchronize, and Get Information, Restore Defaults, and similar functions which require accessing Evolv servers may not work.

  4. Hello all, For some time now, as time has permitted, I've been separating out and making platform-independent the Windows-specific portions of our EScribe code. About a month ago I finished this, and began porting EScribe to MacOS. Today, I believe the Mac port has few enough bugs to be usable. I expect this will have bugs. Please let me know what you run into. 6. Hello all, as promised, I have taken pictures along with a write up on how to fix the Paranormal that reads ohms too high. The 510 connector on the Paranormal has what I believe is thread lock between the ring where the ground wire is soldered to, and the main body of the connector. thread lock is a non-conductive substance which causes the Ohm readings to be off, However, it is an easy fix. I have included pictures for steps 1-5, after that, it is reassembly so follow steps 3-1 in reverse order. Step1: remove the 3 T5 torx screws that hold the 510 to the body. Step 2: carefully unsolder the ground (black) wire form the outer ring. (take care not to over heat and melt inner insulator ring.) Step 3: using two pair of adjustable jaw pliers, grab the edge of the 510 with one pliers, and the ring that the ground wire was connected to with the other, and unscrew the ring from the 510. (take care to not how the insulator ring goes in.) Step 4: clean out the threads inside the ring and off the threads of the main 510 body. Using a pair of tweezers or small flathead screw driver is a good idea. Step 5: wipe ofF threads with rubbing alcohol or acetone. Step 6: reassemble and tighten down ground ring to main body of 510. Step 7: re-solder the ground wire back to the ring, (don't hold heat on too long or you risk melting insulator ring.) Step 8: line up the 510 and reattach to body with 3 T5 screws. that will bring the ohm reading back to correct readings. Update to this list, this particular paranormal also had a spotty Positive connection, which also is an easy fix with a soldering iron, see last picture for fix. Edit: My test coil is a .29ohm coil for reference.

  9. Some of the first DNA Go boards can occasionally get into a state where they do not respond to button presses or USB. As of this posting, we have received reports of 180 affected devices. Approximately the first 30,000 devices produced might have it happen at some point. We’ve produced about 78,000 boards total. In the spirit of transparency, we’ve created a publicly accessible page which will automatically update from our production and service servers, so that we (and you) can track this as it goes. https://www.evolvapor.com/info/dna-go-stats A few key points: Current production DNA Go devices shouldn’t be affected. If your board was made in October 2018 or later, it shouldn’t be at risk of ever exhibiting this issue. The devices aren’t actually damaged. They’re just in a hardware reset state waiting for a signal that won’t ever come. We found the root cause approximately a month ago, after the first affected devices came in. The problem is in the circuitry that can read an analog microphonic pressure sensor (more expensive than the typical vaping device pressure switches), and since neither the Orion nor any of the other DNA Go based devices that we know of actually use this functionality, we just disabled it. If you send a device showing this behavior to us, it takes about 5 minutes to make the modifications and reset it, so they’re being turned around quickly. Once repaired, your device is no longer at risk of it happening again. So far, only about 6 per 1000 of the potentially affected devices have exhibited this problem. We expect most never will, but that number will increase somewhat as time goes on. We’re extending Lost Vape’s 90 day warranty to 1 year for affected units for this issue only. If you have a device exhibiting this behavior, contact us for a repair ticket at our Helpdesk.

  11. Here are the relevant Theme Designer fields for Replay, most important first, least important last: Atomizer -> Replay is the toggle for actually turning Replay on/off. You can throw a toggle of this on and be good to go. We also use it as a Condition to show Playing. Atomizer -> Can Replay Now means Atomizer -> Replay can actually be turned on right now. It corresponds to showing "Save Puff" and should be used as a Condition switching to a toggle for Atomizer -> Replay. Atomizer -> Can Replay corresponds to "Use Replay on this profile" and should be used as a Condition to change the UI if needed for Replay. For example, in our theme, we don't show the "Save Puff" box at all if Can Replay is false. Alternatively, any 250C theme will work.

Have a good weekend James --- DNA 75 Color, 100 Color, 250 Color --- This test firmware, SP55.1, adds a "Session Mode". When enabled, you don't have to hold the Fire button down. Instead, you press it to start firing, and press it again to stop firing. This is useful at low power settings (or with a temperature-sensing coil), especially with high thermal mass coils or e-liquids that need to warm slowly. You can enable Session Mode and customize the Session Time using EScribe Suite, or on the device if you have a compatible theme. For theme designers, the fields you need are "Atomizer -> Session Mode -> Enable" and "Atomizer -> Session Mode -> Time". Researchers should be aware that on-device trace recording only works for the first 64 seconds of a puff. This test firmware also fixes a problem with "Temp Sensing Detect". Previously, the device would not attempt to re-detect whether a coil was temperature sensing or not after disconnecting and reconnecting the coil. Now, it does. --- EScribe Suite --- Readded support for MacOS 10.12 "Sierra". Added support for MacOS 10.16 "Ventura". Minor bug fixes.

  17. I've had the boards, DNA250s, since they came out and got the enclosures about two months after that. Finally got the pair of them done. Drip3D enclosures. They seem bead blasted then anodized and the finish is really nice and feels nice to hold, no finger prints either. I use FDV V3 510 connectors, had to use them since they've been sitting for a few years, and Nanotech 1300mah batteries. The black one is mine and has an Aromamizer V1 on it. The violet one is for the Mrs. and has a Fogger V4.1 on it. Here they are, side by side, with the covers off - And here's a closer view of the inside of mine, but they're bot the same. I compromised by mounting the board sled/screen holder with LokTite, gel, instant adhesive. The batteries are secured with Velcro, two one inch squares per battery. Normally I would have kludged some metal brackets and JB welded them into place for both the sled and battery but I wanted to get these things completed and in use. Overall, I'm happy with them but still need to run case analyzer on both of them.

  18. Dual 18650's, nice! Looks good! I put one in a ZNA mod, I love those ZNA's, they feel good in my hand and make for a nice pocket mod when working around the house. It's still a work in progress mod, I replaced the crappy adjustable 510 with a VariTube V1 spring loaded 510, need to get some pics showing that. I've also got to do something different with the patch cable I made for connecting to the charge board so I can use escribe, I've started a thread looking for some answers on that in the modders section --> https://forum.evolvapor.com/topic/68792-can-i-bypass-the-charge-board-wire-a-usb-port-directly-to-board-for-escribe-no-charging-needed/ I'm very happy with the 60 so far, I'm getting just as good a vape as I do with my 75's and 200's.

  21. So here's my go at a DNA 60 small screen. (this was kind of a pain to do but doable. the DNA 60's 2 inductors are taller than the DNA 40's single one and with the DNA 60's addition of EScribe/data lines puts the "aggravation cherry" on top!) Got myself a Vaporflask DNA 40, a while back, from the ECF classifieds at great price. I knew the DNA 60 small screen was eventually going to come out so i figured this would be a great housing for the new board. This flask still uses the 500mA charger board that came with it originally. The charging/data board that comes with the DNA 60 is way to big to retrofit inside the flask. So I "windshield wipered" all of the charging components off of the board, with a soldering iron, except the micro USB port. I soldered tiny enamel coated wires from the back of the micro USB pinout for the data lines and thicker enamel wires for USB +5v ~ -5v. Parts...... 22. There are several ways to customize or build a theme based on the default Evolv theme or other themes. 1- To design a new theme, you need to be familiar with Escribe software. To learn about this software, you can watch Software Tutorial video or download Manual file : Official Escribe Manual EScribe EVOLV Software Tutorial - YouTube by Jai Haze 2- Think about how you want the theme to look! Consider elements like the color palette (no more than three colors is best) and fonts (similarly, i don’t recommend using more than two). 3- Now choose base theme! You’ll need to start with one of Evolv themes in order to build your own custom versions. On the top bar of the Escribe, click New> Edit New Theme > Evolv DNA Color. You can start with a blank theme or choose one with default features. 4- Build a theme with icon and logo library : You can use pre-designed icons for ease of work and speed in design. To use this library, you must use the theme in which this library exists. by using icon library, you can choose the icon textually on any page or anywhere in the theme. For example, in any text of the theme type "¢" a charging icon is displayed. Due to the fact that these icons are selected text, so you can easily change their color by changing the color of the text. Currently this library includes 200 icons and logo (copy and paste on your project) Icon.Library_EN.pdf If you want designing based on default Evolv theme, You can download this default theme to using the Icon Library based on the default Evolv theme: Evolv.Default.with.Icon.Library.ecigtheme You can also make your own theme based on pro vapers designer edition (Icon Library Included): ProVapers.DesignersEdition.v9.1.ecigtheme Download lots of pre-designed backgrounds designed for pro vapers designer edition: (can use for others theme) Designers.Edition.Background.Series-1.zip Background change guide: Hope everyone enjoys! 23. It's a tricky one to explain and not very intuitive. But in the theme designer, 1. Go to the screen that has the wattage displayed. You may have to select the tab 'Temp Sensing Material or Can Replay' depending how the theme is set up. 2. Click on the watts number 3. Click on 'options' under 'source' 4. Change decimal places to '0' 5. Change step size to '1' If you'd rather, I'm happy to change it for you if you save the theme you're using and post the file on this thread. I can amend and post it in a reply.

The underlying code already works on Mac and Linux, actually (the Downloads section's theme previews are being generated by EScribe running command-line on Linux, for example), but the graphical interface needs to be ported over. As of today I've converted the last screen from Microsoft Windows Forms to our platform independent windowing layer. I work on it when I need a break from other code, so don't hold your breath, but I have been making progress.

  30. Coming from years of using YiHi boards, I found it hard to remember all the different button combinations to configure my Therion 166. To help alleviate that problem I made a creditcard sized cheatsheet that you can print, and store in your wallet. Print the attached PDF (do NOT scale to fit), cut out the desired cheatsheet (regular creditcard size, and slightly smaller to leave room for laminating), then fold it over. One side has TC mode, the other side wattage mode. Glue the final product shut, or laminate it and cut it out again. The smaller version has 2mm less on each side, which makes it creditcard sized after laminating. Any ideas for improvement are of course welcome. DNA250-cheatsheet-v1.0.pdf

  32. Today I left a comment on the Top 5 themes in the panel and the 2 prior top, that there's blatant spamming occurring. Some designers are spamming the system in various ways to make it to that top panel on the front page. JUST STOP! Some of the more ridiculous are designers reviewing their own theme with a 5 star rating. Seriously! Or how about an update on a theme that's supposed to be an unmodified 'original'. How does that get an update? Done only to make it to top of the updated list. Why would a Theme Designer download his own creation? JUST STOP! The behavior is clear, even if you try to hide behind a VPN because you're just not that smart. JUST STOP! The behavior is clear, even if you download as a Guest because you're just not that smart. JUST STOP! A 'good' theme, over time, by word of mouth or promotion will rise up to the top.

  35. Your theme should be in the 'Theme Park' which will generate extra images on your behalf. 👍 You should add some words in the "About This File" section about the features and operation. Your theme must be tested by you beforehand, and working parameters CLEARLY VISIBLE. It will be in a Pending state until approved by a Moderator, at which time it will be visible to all users. By submitting the file properly, it will bring more visibility to it and allow reviews and comments The easy way is directly from within Theme Designer using the 'Share' button. Post your theme in the proper Category. Sample 'Color' theme entry below The other way is going to "Downloads ➡ DNA 75 Color, 250 Color" and submitting it there. Excellent write-up from @Mr.Bottomfeeder To select a preview-Picture for the topic-list and edit Detail Information of your Theme: After uploading or updating your ecigtheme file(s), each time you have to wait a few minutes for the website software to finish the indexing of all the screens your theme contains. Then enter the Theme-Description-Page again and: 1. Scroll down until the link "File Options" appears at the bottom left of the theme page and click onto this link 2. In the pop-up that get visible now, click "Edit Details". 3. Make your changes in the description, if needed. Otherwise forward with point 5. 4. Scroll the page down and click in the lower right side of the page onto the blue "Save" Button. 5. If you can see a preview-picture and a image containing all your theme pages in top of the "Edit Details" page, this is a sign, that the Forum-Software has finished the integration of the tumbnail-preview-pictures of your theme-file. Now you can scroll down to the block "First Screenshot" and select either the main image or the image what shows all used theme screens in one picture as the main image what you want to get displayed in the topic list and click onto the correspondenting radio-button. If no such pictures appears in "First Screenshot", you have to wait a little longer and reload the "Edit Details" page in your browser as often, as the preview pictures will appear in the top of page. Then repeat point 5. 6. If you have successfully chosen a Preview-Picture, click in the lower right side of the page onto the blue "Save"-Button. This way you can insert your Theme image in the category overview page, because a missing main picture is not really informative for the other visitors. 😉

  36. Hello my dear friends, Since I received a message that I was named on this thread, I read this discussion. I am still wondering the reason behind the download numbers scam since the day I was first notified of fake theme downloads. In my opinion it makes absolutely no sense to manipulate the own download counters or those of someone else. Just because some Honk was having fun to downloading my theme 300 times in one day, now I have to subtract these 300 downloads from my counter in order to get my honest download numbers. Why do some people do that? This is completely devoid of logic and reason. I am happy when some vapers use and like my theme - it is an endorsement for me that I have designed my theme in such a way that it is useful. But these download numbers should represent the actual users (or at least the earlier testers) and not be science fiction numbers. With that, the people who try to annoy us only damage the reputations of the serious authors of themes. Perhaps a time limit would be worth considering - e.g. only allow one download per IP every 5 minutes. Because after doing an download, the serious user must first install the downloaded theme onto his mod and then test the theme. During this time, however, there is no need to download any other themes. By this limitation, the download cheaters could only carry out a total of 12 download fakes per hour at all. What I would like and wish however: More critics, suggestions and ratings from users to improve my topic, as I no longer have own ideas for subsequent updates. Therefore, I would not object to a mandatory rating after downloading and testing a theme. However, I don't know whether and how this could be implemented. Perhaps a solution could be to only allow further theme downloads after a rating for the last downloaded theme has been given. 37. How about a ZNA 60! Took a new old stock ZNA clone, installed the 60, drilled a hole in the bottom for a USB post, wired it up for Escribe access w/o charging. I also upgraded that darn crappy screw adjustable 510 by drilling out the top cap so I can drop the 510 in and lock it down with a set screw from the side, I used one of the VariTube V1 510's, they have always worked well for me. I have three more of these new old stock ZNA clones on my bench but I don't know if I want to build any more of them. I also put a 60 with the data/charge board in one of the Hana V4 mods. Don't have any pics of mine which is the same blue as John la's above, these pics are just some I grabbed off the net to give you and idea what the V4 looks like. I have one more of these waiting on my bench for another 60 build. Bought a pair of them that were new old stock, there was a fellow (zbbmods) on ebay who was selling left over stock from Hana after they closed their doors. I really like this tiny and light V4, and it really works well.

  39. I finished mine last night. Replay stopped working even though the check is there to enable it.

  40. Most anything with a PCB (circuit board) has ceramic capacitors these days. These MLCC capacitors are notorious for failing due to a wide variety of situations, but mainly heat and mechanical stress (drops) are the big two causes. This type of failure is common to everything from our vape devices to cell phones and everything in between. These ceramic caps can fail full short to partial short. It sounds to me like you may have a cap on the batt rail that is partially shorted to ground. I suspect a lot of these "my device drains cells when idle" or "my device gets hot when idle" could be this very problem. No fault of Evolv's, it just the nature of electronics. That's where Evolv's or the manufacturers warranty comes into play. Failed MLCC cap circled in red.......

  42. Just finished stab wood box with dna250. Awesome performance, as with all my DNA mods. Installation is straight forward and the custom options with escribe make set up a breeze.

  43. Bit of a lash up but was quite keen to play with this board. Got a bit happy with the milling around the USB. 1mm brass sheet.
