1. Try swaping the positions of the batteries to see if the readings are from a poor connection to positions 1 & 3 or if the actual batteries are weak, maybe marke the battery that come out of position 2 ( the first one when you take off the cover) as it's the odd one out.
2. I have done the same......and Vaping .........Thank You Verry Much for cooperation.
You are welcome, just glad you got you mod working again.
3. Looking good, but you should be able to get the 510 flush with the top, I had to just tap one of my cases a bit more, probably could have used more torque but I had the right tap handy. Remember to disconnect the wire before turning the 510, removing the centre pin is easiest.
4. The fuse is mainly to protect the battery from a short in the mod and the auto fuse will be fine for that, it will be a little slower to blow than the SMD one so not 100% as good, all I can say is go by what John and James said in the other thread, they both work for Evolv John designed the board and I James does the software.
5. If you wanted to condition batteries you can use most hobby chargers, but would still need to manually start each charge and discharge function. TBH I don't think anyone ever does 12 cycles, I have heard various numbers, 6 cycles seems to be widely accepted and if I were going to do this a lot I would make or look for a commercial available system to do it automatically all before putting the battery in the mod. But I don't believe that it is necessary beyond quality checking and storage charging (around 40% for best shelf life), but it is a nice idea if you can offer it to your customers.
6. A hobby charger or USB recovery charge in EScribe, I am 99% sure the Nitecore will not charge low cells, Most XTar chargers will, but even then you would need to make up a lead and charge one cell at a time. In device monitor
7. 1st thing is to try other cables, there are a lot of charge only Micro USB cables about these days.
8. can you drill out the broken half of the screw from threading, then re-tap?
I would need about 1.2 mm drill to be able to use a M1.6 tap after, I only have a Dremel pillar drill and the because the screw is a lot harder than the body and 1.6 mm drill bend easily I don't think I could do it. And there is not enough screw showing to grip.
9. No, I don't do videos, atm they look like this, but the brushed one has a broken board mount screw so can't be used and I don't fancy my chances of drilling it out. ETA higher res of the inside
10. I wouldn't advise anyone to do what I did and use the screws to cut the board mount thread, I sheared a stainless steel screw in the aluminium housing and have made on of my enclosures scrap metal. I tapped M1.6 threads in the 3rd with an HSS tap, I should have done that from the get go.
11. Yes what John described is the same as the picture I did for you.
12. hey VB, how long from ordering to shipping notification?
6th to the 10th, but the 6th was the release date so would have been in a queue.
13. I just got 3 of the Mod Crate boxes and am very impressed with the quality everything fits very well, you do need to sand the back of the buttons a little and the board mount holes are not tapped both of which are no problem at all. They come with hex socket screws for the case and torx 5 screws for the boards (1 set was black so I will uses ss ones I had already). I will post some more details and pics in a few days, just a heads up they did a great job.
14. Please tell me if you are confident with the installation of automotive fuse, or not? because i have satisfied with your reply to this post. I prefers to install an automotive fuse because it (fuse blow) has been happen to my second device. I live in Pakistan and it takes more than 2 months for shipping and return from Evolv, due to the reason i am searching an alternate for changing the fuse. I have tried to buy the original fuse from: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=3413.0332.22virtualkey69300000virtualkey693-3413.0332.22 ebay and other vendors but they do not ship to Pakistan, therefore, i am searching for a good and authentic alternate. if there is someone who already have tried it and satisfied with its working, his opinion / experience would be very helpful for me as well as for others.
It will work to fix the fuse, but if there is another problem that caused the original fuse to blow it will not fix that. Best to go be John and Jame's posts in this thread /topic/67186-topic/
15. Personally I would put a lower fuse on like 20 A because these will take longer to blow than the SMD ones, if you can find "fast blow" they would be best. But you have to understand that this is a your own risk, you could send the board to Evolv and get them to check it and replace the fuse.
16. Yes safety wise, but because the higher capacity batteries will have more voltage sag under medium-high loads you probably won't get as much extra runtime a the spec suggests, but nothing to worry about.
17. They balance at the end of the charge cycle IIRC, so if the batteries were at different voltages before I would expect that, but IIWY I would charge them all fully on an external charger so they are at the same voltage when you install them and they should not get that out of balance continuing with the USB charging unless there is a fault, but you need to get them balanced to tell really. IMO those batteries are OK if you are not at very high watts as they are only really 20 A continuous current https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/efest-purple-35a-3000mah-18650-bench-test-results-only-a-20a-battery-equal-to-hg2-and-30q-though.711203/
18. Wiring the auto fuse: you would just put it it the positive wire from the battery connector, just cut that wire and solder each end to the fuse.
19. Well done finding that thread Black Lace, I tried the other day and couldn't.
20. In the UK Radio Spares are cheapest IIRC and if you have a local branch you can order online and pick them up, link in one of the posts I linked to above.
21. (I deleted a few posts just to keep this thread on topic by request)
22. /topic/66901-topic/ /topic/68133-topic/ there are probably more threads to
23. You normally have to buy or make the lead with these type of chargers as there are so many different types of connector, I think it is an XT30 charge lead you need for that battery to plug into the two 4 mm sockets with the balance plug going into the 4 pin socket white section on the side. Here is a picture (the plugs are not fully inserted to make it clearer for you)
