For what it's worth. The mod resistance on my two SXK Billet boxes are set to 0.011 ohms. They were measured using my shorting tool. One came out to 0.010 and the other at 0.011 so I set them both at 0.011 ohms. Contact area need to be clean 1st.

what wire works best in temp control with dna 75c?
dwcraig1 replied to leea12345's topic in General Discussion
Here are some situations that wreck havoc on getting TC to work properly especially when using wire that has little resistance change when heated. Things need to be pretty much perfect for these wires to be read properly by the board. !st. is a coil with shorting wraps giving a false cold ohm reading, as the coil starts to heat the shorting may stop creating a jump in resistance. 2nd.A bad connection between the 510's, maybe atty's 510 is too short or has dirty threads on it's 510 threads or loose to wire post. 3rd. Wire not clamped under post screws tightly. 4th. Wrong TCR settings. There has been some cases where LV put thread locker on the 510 threads where the ground wire connect internally on the 510 socket creating a problem with resistance readings. This was quite some time ago and I have not heard of it since. Just to name a few, I'm sure there's more -

Here is a snippet of my 2 cell DNA200 firing at 80 watts (set to 80). I was going to ask you to post the same of yours when I seen mine doing the same. Here is why mine only reached 66 watts and not 80. All of the DNA boards that use cells in a series are buck only meaning that their output voltage will never be more than battery pack voltage. In this case the 200 board powered by 2 cells has a maximum output of 6 volts. Note in my snippet that @ 66 watts the output voltage is maxed out at 5.96 volts (blue line), if I built a lower resistance coil it could hit 80 watts with the right resistance. Could it be that you have the same thing going on? The max voltage on a DNA250 board powered by two cells is 6.2 volts and the 250C is in that range also. But looking at your build I doubt if that is your problem. I would like to know what your pack/cell voltage drops to when firing. 6.88 v in my snip.

You said in your 1st post that the resistance was changing, what is the wire material?

Yes I have, as long as you don't have a nickel allergy you should be fine with it. -

You might want give NiFe 48 or 52 a try, is lies about in the middle as far as resistance change. -

Yes you can simply use the CSV file but you also can manually add it as indicated here: By using the "Action" tab in lower right corner. -

Wire that changes the most resistance when heated work best. Go here to see TCR values: https://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz Use the drop down menu to change wire type. Read the value in "TCR in Vaping Range" Note Ni200 is 6000, that would be 0.006 for the DNA TCR setting. Personally my wire of choice is SS430 which has a much greater resistance change than SS316. -
DNA 60 (small screen) powered by single 21700

Does the battery cap screw in? If so try cleaning it's threads and the corresponding threads on the mod with a q-tip and alcohol. Look down inside using a light and see if the positive battery contact looks clean. -

My guess is there is a problem with the wiring between the battery and board. Look first at the battery contacts. Does the battery fit snug? There may be a cold solder joint where the wires solder to the board. Does the mod use a ground wire from the negative side of the battery to the board or does is use a chassis ground? Is is not because it's a 21700. -

You can load various mods into EScribe without connecting the actual mod. Just pick one from "Edit New Settings"

The 18650 battery setting is correct, it more or lees just means round replaceable type cell. The Cell Soft Cutoff is set at 2.75 volts normally with a round cell. What is the standing voltage of the cell when it reports 40%? Can you post a snippet of Device Monitor firing under the conditions described in your post like the one below? Note on mine the voltage dropped to 3.52 while firing at 45 watts. Had it dropped to below 2.75 volts the low battery error should display. -

There is probably a firmware update for you in Escribe. It with tell you when you connect if there's a newer one available Windows only for this version .https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupEScribe2_SP25_INT_ServicePack.exe Or for SP24 here: : https://www.evolvapor.com/escribe availible for Windows, Mac and linux -

For what ever reason the battery power isn't making it to the board. -

Well are the batteries installed with correct polarity? And does the battery door's little spring loaded pin appear to connect to the brass plate on the battery door. I would suggest connecting to Escribe and use Device monitor to see what is says for the voltage of each cell. Check if it reports one cell is above 4.2 volt and the other is real low, -

Is that three different mods of the same model? -
My DNA100C has an 18650 Samsung 20S (30 amp) at 90% charge here. I don't have any Kanthal or Nichrome heavy enough to get really low resistance so I used some dual core SS 316 Claptons in dual coil configuration. Both firings was with the screen timed out (off)

Did you change only the theme or did you use my ecig file?

I don't think it a bad connection as far as wiring, more like the board it's self. This is just my opinion as I am not an Evolv tech. My advice would be to contact Evolv's Help Desk and they will advise you as to how best to proceed. https://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add&category=1 Add a link to this thread on your contact request.
