How can you tell it's balancing the cells?
dwcraig1 replied to dwcraig1's topic in Batteries and Charging
Does the battery icon have the charge symbol when it's balancing, does it show any amperage? How long does it take? Should I keep it on charge for a couple of days? It was similar to this so I changed the battery. I tried to balance this battery and the original battery with the cheap charger that comes with the Hotcig mod, all it does is overcharge the "good" cells. It stops charging when 1 and 2 reach 4.20 volts, or I think it does. -
So after installing the new battery all was well.....at first anyway. After leaving the mod sit unused for a couple of days cell #3 is at 3.90 volts while 1 & 2 are at 4.20 volts (after charging). I'm really not sure but I'd guess that the board is draining down #3 when not in use. I see quite a few posts with a similar problem. Anyone got some ideas?

They must be getting ready to cut them loose.....hoping anyway

Too soon for me to know but 1300mah is 1300 mah, it should probably stay healthy much longer than the crappy Lion Power that they used. The Turnigy I used has a lesser C rating than the Lion Power Lion and lighter gauge wires, but it seems just fine though.
-
I just finished putting the above Turnigy 1300 mah Lipo in my Vapecige box. I used a Deans connector but considered just cutting the plugs off and soldering the wires together. I did shorten the two big wires on the battery as there is very little space. If I were to do it over I think I would have just soldered the wire together where the plugs are, I wanted to avoid soldering on the board if possible. The wires from the battery are exiting the battery on the opposite side of the case from the board. It was successful, charging now.

I removed the battery and measured the pack voltage with my meter just in case the pack voltage was the sum of the cell readings, it was low.12.2 volts.
-
After installing the new battery I will do that if it's still out of whack.
-
Well the pack voltage is down by the same amount as cell 3 when charging is completed.

So here is a screen shot of why I'm replacing the battery although I'm not exactly certain that the battery is the problem. I disassembled it this morning and found some kind of crude built up on #3 solder joint of the balance connector. I probably should have re-soldered it after I cleaned it off but it looked good. I'll find out when I replace the battery I guess. I tried charging it with the rc balance charger that came with my Hotcig DX200 and all it did was overcharge the two good cell to 4.28 volts. Since failure charging with little RC charger I'm pretty sure now that the battery is at fault here.

I just ordered one, my luck with mine finally ran out. Still works but #3 cell is out of whack. Thanks for the info.

How about the Paypal receipt you may have in your email? Assuming of coarse that you used Paypal.

Is that the CSV off their website, or do I need to contact them to get it? Going off what replies I have gotten I shouldn't be having any issues. But I still have the same issue. What temps are you guys vaping at?[/QUOTE]http://www.sweetspotvapors.com/category_s/1856.htm

Bigger, probably not. Better, probably, the 900 mah FullyMax sold by Evolv.

Coming real soon, Hotcig

Resistance still climbs while it's supposed to be locked?
dwcraig1 replied to p8ntballa9362's topic in DNA 200 and 250
Perhaps use it in TC mode setting the temp way on the high side, that's the only way I see this working near what your asking. -

The resistance of the ss wire is still going to increase as it's heated regardless if in TC mode or not. The same would be happening with a mechanical mod but there the wattage would be decreasing. -
Mine has been sitting for a couple of hours unused with no usb attached, read the thermometer on wall near it, mod says 87.25F and thermometer reads 88. Thermometer is about 3 feet higher. I'll check it again after it's been connected with usb for a whileand see if there's a difference. And a little later with usb plugged in and charging, board room temp is 93F, thermometer says 90F

Did you upload settings to device? Hey had to ask.

extremely weak vape no matter what I try.
dwcraig1 replied to Darklyspectre's topic in DNA 200 and 250
I've been thinking about this for awhile. Not to suggest that too light of gauge wire was used here on the output but I'd like to know if doing so would fool the board into thinking the coil was hotter than it actually is. My thoughts in this case go towards the 510's solder joints, both on the board and on the socket. If one of the joints were faulty but still good enough to read the cold ohms correctly(no load) would this be the result? -
So now what I wonder. I thought maybe mine was skewed due to heavy use running the battery down to low enough to do the test. It sat there for an hour waiting for temp to steady. Mine was done with room temp at 75 F but I'm not sure if it matters as long as you enter the correct room temp. It would be great if John would comment on this subject.

In the case (no pun intended)of quite a few of the China mod makers this has not been done so the Evolv settings are in place.

I posted this in another forum that sells these and got this response: "...if one is calculating the average temperature of 10 objects in a room, and nine of them are between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, but the tenth is an oven at 175 °C, themedian of the data will be comprised between 20 and 25 °C but the meantemperature will be between 35.5 and 40 °C. In this case, the median better reflects the temperature of a randomly sampled object than the mean; naively interpreting the mean as "a typical sample", equivalent to the median, is incorrect." Just felt like I had to share that with you. Anyway, your DX200 Case Analyzer Resultsare totally incoherent/inconsistent and out of a proper context to even take them into account by anyone here, or for any point you may had wanted to make with'em."(end of qoute) Does anyone see something "wrong" with these figures? I must say though that most of the folks in that forum are either anti Evolv or have no idea what it is.
