bert72 Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Posted September 6, 2016 I recently bought a SMY SDNA 200, and as of yesterday it no longer works! My screen is black and does not turn on even if it was fully charged. I have done everything ie: plugged it in EScribe but my device is not recognized.Has anyone heard or come across this problem before? Really sucks all considering my device was new.

Probably a blown fuse. As long as it's under warranty, you'll be fine.
black lace Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 You should be able to get it up on escribe without a fuse, so sounds very dead.

I love Evolv's DNA boards but I don't understand all the problems. You don't hear about this happening all the time with the SX350J or the joytech boards. Why? What's different?
VapingBad Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 You don't hear of it much with the DNAs, there are 11,600 members here so I think this is less of one percent of the membership and by it's nature this forum is going to attract those with problems.

You don't hear about this happening all the time with the SX350J or the joytech boards. Why? What's different? That is very far from the truth and I myself have had a Dna200 failure. I also have had two SX failures with one that was never resolved and never received the board back. Evolv products are very reliable and your issue is a rare one as far as I can see. If your are so inclined to do so you could pull the board and send it into Evolv. They will repair or replace it I am sure. The other option is sending that mod to wherever they have warranty work which could be China? Here is where to contact Evolvhttps://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add
Spector NS5 RD Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 SMY has a US based warranty repair center........customerservice@e-cigarette.cc is there emailhttp://www.simeiyuerepaircenter.com/ is the warranty repair center (website is temporarily down).
Disley Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 My third SMY SDNA200 failed last week. The fuse has blown on this one.The previous two were replaced on warranty, so I didn't investigate why they failed. On both the screen said warranty repair, or warranty service, I don't remember. This last one was rarely used, it sat under my monitor, fully charger with an aeronaut dripper attached.I was reading something on the computer and a small puff of vapor came out of the atty, and a burned circuit board smell.I quickly removed the atty in case the battery had failed, but the mod and atty were both cold. The screen was dead, when I plugged it into the usb it immediately shut down my computer.I'm so over these mods.None of them lasted longer than six weeks.

dwcraig1 Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 I'm curious if Disley just means SMY mods or Evolv boards.
Disley Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 dwcraig1 said:I'm curious if Disley just means SMY mods or Evolv boards.I don't know if the screen 'warranty service', means the board or the mod was at fault. The first two SMY DNA200 mods failed and the screen said warranty service, they were replaced under warranty. I didn't enquire what the problem was.The third failed from a blown fuse on the Evolv board.I won't be wasting my time buying SMY again.I also have an Efusion dna200 and a catfish LBC dna200 squonker which have been trouble free.Is there a defect with SMY SDNA200 mods?As far as I'm concerned, yes.
dwcraig1 Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 I thought that was what you were saying.
Disley Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 Perhaps I just had bad luck with the sdna200.SMY changed the warranty from 12 months to 6 months, maybe many people had defective mods.It was a great mod, if it had worked for a year I'd have been very happy.5 weeks is ridiculous.
dwcraig1 Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 If it were me I'd open a ticket with Evolv and explain everything. It can't cost that much more to send three as opposed to one. Nothing to lose really, if they tell you to send them they most likely will take care of it. https://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add
Disley Posted September 11, 2016 Report Posted September 11, 2016 as you can see the part burned completely. I'm not sure what it is.I'll contact evolv, but I don't believe the mod will last long even if they fix it.
VapingBad Posted September 11, 2016 Report Posted September 11, 2016 That is where external buttons are connected, no "parts" are fitted there, maybe some loose bit of metal shorted that out.
Disley Posted September 11, 2016 Report Posted September 11, 2016 There was definitely no loose metal or the remains of when I opened it up.Could juice have caused this, if it got inside?I can't see any juice anywhere. What is the evolv position on this type of damage, would it be covered under their warranty?
retird Posted September 11, 2016 Report Posted September 11, 2016 Just contact Evolv (submit a ticket) and explain and attach your picture. They will advise you further.https://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add
