1. I very much doubt the cotton is burning, liquid cooked on the wick gives a very similar appearance until you put it under a high magnification and has caught me out in the past.
2. I think it is just the different way spaced coils spread heat, all coils heat from the centre out, but with touching coils the heat conducts to the next loop and with spaced it has to spiral around the coil just going along the length of the wire.
3. Personally I have been doing fine with 25R, running them until they are about 3.25 V and just get a bit of a drop off on preheat toward the end, but I do max the preheat. "Weak battery" is just the board warning you that your battery sagged to 2.5 V under load and not the your battery needs changing warning "check battery". Poor battery contacts also play a part in this as well, I replaced the standard Keystone contacts for something more solid and only get the warning when the battery is getting low now. You can also reduce your preheat watts because in temp mode it is probably only sagging that badly for a fraction of a second during preheat.
4. 1st thing to check is if it is a jammed/shorted fire button, if you connect to EScribe and open Device Monitor it will show which buttons are pressed at the bottom.
5. It does indeed show serial, make, model and patient number, you have to be in non temp dominate mode (adjusting watts as the big number)
6. I asked John ages ago what the board max temp was in normal operation and IIRC it was 150 F /topic/68043-topic/?do=findComment&comment=912118 post #6
7. No need to panic buy in the UK the rules are if it is on the market before 20th Nov 16 it can be sold until 20th May 17. It is not just getting through existing stock as we thought previously. E: correction the existing stock date 20th Nov applies to manufactures, but not retailers. So retailers can still buy non compliant stuff up to 19th May 17, they have to stop selling it after that date. Manufactures can produce non compliant stuff up to 19th Nov 16. As I understand it, but if you r business depends on this check for yourself.
8. I think they just call it a chip because it's square, AFAIK it is a shaped tungsten element encased in ceramic, there are a lot of reviews about.
9. Best bet is to ask the "CVU Chip" manufacture for a DNA 200 material profile or a TCR, it is really their responsibility IMO. Having a quick Google some say Ni200 is close, others say Tungsten, their relative TCRs are 0.0062 & 0.0045 and you could also try values between these. You can get a Tungsten profile here http://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz.asp#
10. EScribe works with both, but that only has DNA 75 fw included with it, if you have installed a previous DNA 200 version it will find the fw from all previous installs for both boards.
11. Sounds like you have a connection problem inside the mod, maybe the 510 or board grounding.
12. I have mine set to 21.4 Wh using 3 sets of VTC4s it is spot on with 2 sets, but the newest ones last quite a way past the battery gauge going to zero.
13. Over here (UK) some of the politicians are very well informed and fighting our corner, this is from our 2nd house, non-elected hangover from the feudal system, the House of Lords that only really have rubber stamping powers these days, but a grate speech for Viscount Ridley, well worth a watch if only for the first 11 mins.
14. Thanks, I watched it all and not even directly affected by it, but the fallout will be world wide by putting a huge burden in US manufactures and providing a bad example for regulators in the rest of the world to follow.
15. I think fiasco is way over the top, it was never recommended for DNA 200s and was only available for a few hours as part of a DNA 75 download. If people just stuck to what Evolv posts in the Early FW thread, IE official releases for the DNA 200 then nobody would had a concern. Your device has not been adversely affected by it MikeTheVapeDude and if it was Evolv would have replaced the board so IMO not a fiasco, maybe a slip would be a more realistic word.
16. I don't know if you get ohms too high with a blown fuse it has not happened to me, it makes sense in that there wouldn't be enough power from the USB to fire anything much. If the fuse is blown the device will be dead when not connected to a USB supply or PC, is that the case with yours?
17. First I would try a few atties in case it's just the 510 pin sitting lower than normal, you should be able to feel it getting tight before it completely screwed in. If it's in warranty the vendor you got it from should sort in out for you. If it's out of warranty and you are confident with a soldering iron you could check the internal connections are all sound, if not you can ask Evolv to help by opening a ticket Help Desk - Submit a ticket.
18. Any person who condones crimianl activity is a criminal.
No, not where we live, not yet anyway, inciting yes if found guilty, condoning no.
19. I don't see Evolv as the sort of company that will ever try to sell "torch power supplies" or similar that also work well for vaping. Obviously the FDA regs will encompass the boards, 510s would probably be spares, but I wonder how the will regard CNCed enclosures. It is a cluster f*** that a short run mod maker would be expected to register even if they we using certified/licensed (not sure which applies here) boards which completely define the function of the finished product. So unless I get this wrong if the boards and other parts are certified/licensed/whatever you could make mods, but not sell them, how about giving them away?
20. Good to know I wasn't sure if that had been updated to fix that, I had to one mine with 2-23 to do a A to B compare in for the beta program and 1.0.56 was not out then.
21. But it was not posted in the early fw thread here so not official for the DNA 200 as such, I know it did come from Evolv and I doubt they would leave you hanging if it broke your mod. Just roll back using one of the versions in the early fw thread, you will need to let it set defaults then reload a previous config or set it up from scratch.
22. dwcraig1 is correct you just need the previous version of EScribe to roll back from 4-25, the current ones in the Early fw thread and you will have to set defaults and start over if you have not saved a config recently.
23. OK no more personal comments I don't want to be considering banning anyone, but I will if they keep posting insults even if they feel they were provoked. Part of the reason for this forum is for people to get help, usually this is quickly provided in friendly manner by other members. Where it isn't it can drive people away without getting help or end in mutual animosity that spills out to other threads. black lace consider this a warning, I would hate to see you banned, but I've had to delete 2 of your post in this thread.
24. Also try tightening the screw behind the white foam plug in the battery bay.
