1. I think it's just bad manufacturing. I had issues with my battery cap threads. I used Noalox on the threads. You don't want to use graphite on the threads as it's a ground for the battery.
2. I have 5 DNA200, 3 DNA75 and 4 DNA40 in rotation. None of my mods are set higher than 30w and most are set to 25w.
3.
Amen.... as I said earlier....FDA...yuck.... But my main reason for this post is I saw this post on ECf and felt it needed to at least be seen here:
I replied over on ECF:
I played with my VS a bit more and I got 2a charging back. I used Spiro's method but it didn't work exactly so I poked around and changed some other settings and it worked. I'm not really sure what I did that helped but removing "Watts" and "Restore Defaults" were key. So it seems like it's just a software glitch and it doesn't harm the hardware (at least on mine). *edit* I'm using Escribe v1.2 because I also have many other DNA75/200 mods.
4. I used electrical tape (3M) and a piece of closed cell foam between the board and screen.
5. I'm using a PowerBot PB5000 with Anker USB cables tested to work at 2a. The 700ma charger was an old LG phone charger. When I started, my battery was around 89% (950-ish Wh). I fully charged it via computer USB (3.0 port but only put out .5a) When the battery is full, the USB Current value is steady at a lower current (ie. 0.2a) and doesn't ramp up like it did. I will vape it for a while and check again.
6. I had the same issue with my Hana v200 last year. They answered a couple of emails and then ignored me. Evolv stepped up and sent me a new screen. Here's how I bent the ribbon:
7. Silo 900 from Mod Crate and VT75 Nano Black and red are DNA75, Blue is a DNA200.
8. Do NOT upgrade your VaporShark DNA200 yet. I have 3 DNA75 mods and 5 DNA200 mods. I upgraded all of them to the new firmware and they all work fine except the charging on the VS DNA200. From the on screen USB Current field and a USB current meter, it looks like the on board charger is ramping up to see how high it can charge. It goes from 0.00a to 0.77a and then starts over again. Same values on the mod and the meter. Plugged into my computer, it charges at a steady .5a (+/- .02a). I don't have a 1a charger but I have a 700ma charger and it's showing the same behavior. Plugging into my computer shows a stable .5a charging. I rolled back the firmware to the 2.23.16 version and no change.
9. Silo cases. Black and red are DNA75 and the blue is a DNA200.
10. The enclosure and all the parts to build it (minus the DNA200 board) came in a kit that was custom made for a group of people who shall remain nameless. Actually, 3 parts missing from the kit were a wire (from the DNA200 to the 510), battery and connector. I had to dremel the buttons down a hair but it's better than having loose, rattling buttons.
11. New coil message is only in TP. You're using kanthal so you'll never see the message.
12. Interesting. I updated my Hana yesterday and it started getting crazy readings from .07 to .19? higher than it should be. And it keeps fluctuating. I took it apart and tried cleaning the ground contacts under the board and it didn't help. I updated my VS DNA200 and 3d printed DNA200 and those are working fine. *edit* I tried a few different atomizers and all were reading high on the v200. Just updated to the previous version (2015-8-21) and it's not fluctuating but still reading about .11? higher than it should be. 9-30 firmware is working fine on my VS DNA200 and 3d printed DNA200.
13. All the manufacturers that say "user replaceable battery" sells a pack for their mod with appropriate connectors. XT30 connectors aren't widely used so you won't find many batteries that come with it. Also, most of these mods aren't designed to replace battery packs for daily use, just when the battery is used up.
14. I picked up a Winbook 7 a couple of weeks ago and it works great with Escribe. The $59 price is in-store only. Amazon has it for $79. It will charge your DNA200 but the tablet only has a 3000mah battery so probably not a good idea.
15. I ordered one from the Labor day sale (9/7) and got it 9/26. The build date was 9/14/15.
16. Any lipo charger with a balance port will work. I use a SkyRC Imax B6 charger once in a while but it's just easier for me to charge them in the mod.
17. That might be the source of all your ills. I tested both Hana cables I have and both are crap. I use Blackberry, LG, Samsung and Anker USB cables for both charging and data transfers.
18. http://modcrate.myshopify.com/collections/pcb/products/dna-200d-replacement-screen-oem?variant=3684415108
19. Yes. I've been doing it for the past week or so.
20. The USB spec defaults to 500ma while data is connected if there's no other instructions. The driver of any USB device needs to tell the circuit to put out more power (1a).
21. The driver doesn't seem to support more than 500ma. Both 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports on my computer can handle more than 1a (1.5a?) but only 500ma with my DNA200's.
22. I'm almost jealous. I really wanted a reference mod (still do). My Hana is working great now though. I'll get around to changing the connector one of these days. If/when the reference mod goes on sale, I'll order one since I still have an extra DNA200 board with no home.
23. I am calm. I have low tolerance for stupidity. Let me hold your beer while you try it.
