greenj22
Hi All, I have looked at, read, re-read, and been attempting to get EScribe/data connection using a generic USB breakout board. My understanding: From breakout board to DNA60: VCC to pin 15 via 10K ohm resistor Data + to pin 14 Data - to pin 13 @ChunkyButt200 can you please help? No connection. I’ve tried this several times on/off for a looooong time. Help is very-much appreciated in advance. And yes, USB cable is data capable.

Spector NS5 RD
You need to apply power to the board before EScibe will see it. (4.20v to batt neg and batt pos pinouts ~ 10 and 9, respectively). You have the data part covered corretcly now you just need to wake the board up with some juice. Once the board is powered on, then connect the USB cable to EScribe.
Wayneo
@greenj22 Are you going to leave that permanently soldered? I notice a BB on your bench, and my connections are always removable cuz I just couldn't figure how to mount the board

I just wanted to try using different USB or taps that I could install with less modifications.
greenj22
Spector - Thanks so much! I think I figured it out and you are 100% right! I was expecting to get a connection without power going to the board, just as you would with the stock USB. So I connected the ground and a battery and I’m good to go!! Finally! Thanks for your input. Edited August 14, 2018 by greenj22

Would you happen to have any advice or guidance on getting a USB board to fit in there? I have an Evolv 1A charge board and know how to wire it just need a little info on milling out the box and physical placement of the board. Not sure I would ever use the USB to charge but would like to have it for Escribe. Thanks!
