shiv Posted February 9, 2016 Author Report Posted February 9, 2016 Ok, so building a dna200 mod and wondering if I should use a solid wire specially when it comes to thick wire like the 14ga, 16ga, 18ga or should I use stranded wire. I can see that being a hassle to solder but the question is, is it better for the connection to use a solid wire or stranded?

Michael Hancock Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 I am finishing up my first build and went with Turnigy wire. Flexible and easy to work with. I did 14g to the 510 and 16g everywhere else except the fire button.
black lace Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 The turnigy silicon coated is also a tad thinner i believe, because the coating is moor resiliant, and most 510 connectors are spring loaded, so a little exess in the form of a cemicircle or half loop to allow for some movement, ,, would never be achievable with solid wire. with solid you would have to form each strand beffor soldering in, becsuse trying to manipulate once soldered would tear up the solder tabs on the board, solid looks the part in home build mech mods..like wooden boxes or old tobbacco tins.
shiv Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Thanks guys, helped a lot! Now If I can only find the wire locally and not have to wait to get it shipped! this wire is not cheap! completely wasn't expecting that! haha
dwcraig1 Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Fatdaddy has 16 gauge onlyhttp://www.fatdaddyvapes.com/shop.html

shiv Posted February 17, 2016 Author Report Posted February 17, 2016 Which fatdaddy 510 connector is advisable with such a build? There are wayyy too many versions of it!!
VapingBad Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 IMO Evolv, Protovapor, Mod Crate and VariTube are all better than FD, but some folks like them so YMMV.
shiv Posted February 17, 2016 Author Report Posted February 17, 2016 can you elaborate how one is better than the others...?
Spector NS5 RD Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 shiv said:can you elaborate how one is better than the others...?VB can still put his two cents in.....but i find the FDV center pin spring not as strong as others. stronger the spring, the better the connection.
shiv Posted February 17, 2016 Author Report Posted February 17, 2016 So what has the strongest pin? varitube? evolv?
VapingBad Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 The Evolv & Protovapor both have wave springs which should be the best, then the Mod Crate has a flat spring and finally the Varitubes have coils springs. They will all take up less room in you box than the FD IIRC.
