ability to configure device without a PC
retird replied to DjMadness's topic in EScribe, Software and Firmware
And what kind of temperature, wattage, and preheat are you vaping at? Burning cotton shouldn't happen..... as wick dries the DNA reduces power etc. causing less vapor and flavor production....the dryer the wick the less vape production until you get no production.... burning cotton may be an indication of coil hot-spots especially with contact coils... How about a picture of the coil/ burned cotton combination... -

ability to configure device without a PC

You can set preheat in profiles. I have a few set to vary preheat from 60 watts to 100 watts. -
Efusion made a cold solder joint, so let Efusion fix it and the bad insulation tear.... it is still under warranty, right?

ability to configure device without a PC

hum....if you are burning cotton with a DNA you are not doing something right.... -
It could be a loose connection where the screen ribbon attaches to the board. The screen is replaceable if the pixels just disappeared a little at a time, usually caused by a cracked screen glass or damaged ribbon. Sometimes the ribbon gets damaged as it gets pinched due to contact at the fire switch repeatedly until it just goes out... Best guesses so hope this helps...

Can you describe what the screen was doing before it went out completely?

Reposition the usb connector of the DNA75
retird replied to martini3k1's topic in Installation and Assembly
After comment about modifying the Esquare I took the time to visit a Esquare and a DNA75 device. The Esquare uses the DNA onboard switches and a separate USB board. The DNA75 device uses the onboard switches and the USB is fixed to the board. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.... -
Please help Lost vape halcyon DNA 200 issue
retird replied to Taylor Elrod's topic in General Discussion
If I recall it means it is failing the self-check and is out of calibration, thus the wattage settings and the temperature settings aren't correct anymore. Take it back as it is only 2 days old for a replacement under warranty. Next option after that is initiate a RMA with Evolv which my include just sending only the DNA board to them... -
When I use a Kanthal Clapton (single coil) in power mode the wattage via Device Monitor always rises to wattage setting and flat lines there within .01 or .02 above or below wattage setting. My best guess without physically being able to troubleshoot is either the coils, the connections, or poor grounding in the device. I always use spaced coils. Know that I'm not much help but these are my thoughts. If I recall you posted the same issue back in May. Might also try cleaning the 510 pins of the device and atty's...and the threading... good luck...maybe others will have a thought that may help ya....
-
From the graph it looks like the wattage is regulating with peaks above 80 watts and valleys below 80 watts so it is reaching 80 watts. Any hot spots in your coils and are they spaced coils? Coil connections tight? What results do you see if using just a single Kanthal coil?

Can you put up a screenshot from Device Monitor while firing at 80 watts?

Feature request - force resistance calibration
retird replied to Llama's topic in EScribe, Software and Firmware
Glad you are learning more about the DNA technology....preheats can also be set in profiles.... there is a learning curve using DNA stuff so don't get discouraged.... -
Feature request - force resistance calibration
retird replied to Llama's topic in EScribe, Software and Firmware
dwcraig1 gave you the work-around to "force it".....profiles can be set many ways.... what you are seeing is not a calibration problem but a user problem... refinement works as designed, locking resistance works as designed, and so does setting up a profile works as designed..... -
HELP! My vt75 510 cap got stucked to my Kayfun
retird replied to danielsonk's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes you can freeze it and as the metal has contracted it will let you unscrew the two parts... -
Very little current goes to the external switches (milli-amps) so use what you have on hand if you choose I guess... using 20 guage will cause no user issues except maybe fitting into thru-holes. Solid wire has a tendency to break easier at the solder point than of stranded in my experience. Good luck on your build...

Refinement doesn't happened while vaping.... refinement occurs as the device sets idle.... at any rate you might use the work-around mentioned by dwcraig1.... SS is a touchy wire from what I read ... good luck..... -
Feature request - force resistance calibration
retird replied to Llama's topic in EScribe, Software and Firmware
Atty's and device must be at the same temperature for proper calibration. If I take a warm atty off and screw a different one on it may read the ohm's slightly different (0.01 or so). The device ambient temp is different than the atty. As it refines the ohms have always adjusted properly for me. I don't use SS. What you are seeing, I, think, is only being caused by ambient temp differences between device and atty and refinement corrects it. If the device is unsure of the ohm's it will ask"new/old" but if it grabs a reading then you will not be asked. Try this: let device reach room temp and the atty also.... screw atty on and check ohms. Now let device and second atty reach room temp and screw it on and check that one. My best thoughts about what you are seeing... -

Does it change after "refinement"? -

Have you tried taking off the atty and firing the device 4 or 5 times (getting Check Atty message) then screwing the different atty on...? -
Can you post a screenshot from Device Monitor showing graphs while firing? You could contact the vendor where you got the device as it should be in warranty....
-
Maximim wire size per Datasheet is 22 guage so you might find that the 20 guage may not fit in the thru-holes for soldering...

How do they compare to the files here? Scroll down on this web page.... http://www.evolvapor.com/dna75.php

Which DNA75 device do you have? Can you post a screenshot showing the General tab as shown in EScribe and a screenshot of Device Monitor while firing your device?

If they were Ni200 Claptans I would think he would have said so.... If you think they are Ni200 then why not give him an answer to his question?
