1. I don't know. You said you have the DX and a replacement battery? Is it the one from Fasttwch? I how are the specs on it? I actually had to replace mine with a FullymX cuz the specs were way off and my battery was DOA. I don't want to spend a lot of money for a junk battery, but it would be nice to have a spare.
2. All my other devices are Apple/Mac OS and when I first got my DNA 200 and tried using VirtualBox on my iMac, I bricked my device, rendering it useles. I tried a forced firmware update and my iMac wouldn't allow it. So, I cried out for help, and Blueridge (on this forum) recommended I try rebooting it with a Windows device. However, I didn't have access to one. My first reaction was to find the cheapest laptop I could find, until I read a different thread (again, on this forum) where someone mentioned a few tablets that could run Escribe and had a full sized USB port to plug the DNA 200 into. Instantly, I knew that's what I wanted to do. Next, I searched every resale site I could for the Winbook. I bid on a couple...and lost. Then, one night I was up late and found one listed for $25 that had an hour left. I waited and waited and bid at the last second and won the auction for $35 shipped!! I definitely got lucky. As soon as I plugged my DNA 200 into the tablet and turned it on, it started glowing...I couldn't believe it! Something as simple as plugin it in and turning on the tablet fixed my problem and ever since has been running fine. I highly suggest going to eBay and checking out what they have available. The Winbook TW700 is a fairly accessible and more affordable alternative to a laptop.
3. I picked up a Winbook TW700 tablet and I'm so glad I did! It has a full-sized USB port and is small enough to fit in my back pocket if I wish. It's like having a mobile escribe app. You can get them for under $100 anywhere. This is my setup:
4. Ha...I forgot this forum has members from all over the world. Thanksgiving is pretty much the same as the Harvest Festival in the UK. It is a holiday that symbolizes gratitude for our blessings of the preceding year...for the most part.
5. I would like to wish EVOLV and all the members on this forum a Happy Thanksgiving!! I am grateful for all the knowledge that I have learned since joining this forum. Everybody is always so willing to pass their knowledge onto the next person, and so on...it really exemplifies the commraderie that not only goes on amongst owners of the DNA 200, but mainly the vaping community as a whole. Thanks for elevating my vaping experience!
6. Ya, whoever it was is really impatient-they went from being a junior member to a senior member in a matter of seconds!
7. I think it's a fantastic idea! I would be more than happy to have one of these available. I also agree that optional back-plates would be welcomed with praise, considering everyone has their own preference. As far as the 510 hole; although I would like to use an Evolv 510, I'm not sure I would have access to them, thus, FDV or other 510 connection might be my only choice. I am not sure if Modcrate has access to the Evolv 510's, but if they do, they might consider including this with the case upon purchase.
8. Hi there Digatel, I thought the hotcig battery WAS the fullymax that Evolv sell-it has the exact same dimensions as the fullymax 900MAH, plus the same constant and burst ratings. I agree hotcig is shady though. "Bennett" is currently speaking to me, and has said he will send me a new DX200 on Mondat due to everything I have had to go through via DHL, he asked for my adress and said he will give me a tracking number. But, I will find out on Monday/Tuesday if he follows through on this promise.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey Conan, I thought maybe it was too, considering the specs, but when I took it apart and seen the battery that is in there, it was evident it is not. Granted, it does have the same "specs" and dimensions, but as far as quality it is junk. My battery was DOA, like I said before, so I never was even able to charge them. Nonetheless, when I seen that review on YouTube, I was couldn't believe it. I don't know where the batteries are made, but they are not up to "specs". The dimensions are almost exact that of the Fullymax, which made replacing it very easy. This is the battery that come with the Hotcig and the replacement battery:
9. Hotcig batteries are junk! I have a Hotcig and I just decided to replace the battery they gave me with a Fullymax from EVOLV. I'm glad I did too. I watched a review yesterday, where this guy did a in depth review of the battery that comes with the DX200 and the replacement batteries they're selling on Fasttech right now...the specs were astounding...in a bad way. Hotcig is really shady company and they continue these unethical practices, knowingly, at the cost of consumers like myself. They really need to be held accountable...anyone considering buying from Hotcig should watch this first! Here's the link to the review: http://youtu.be/SeOem8x26Gg
10. Yes, 9.9 (9.99) is correct. I finally got my Hotcig working the other day and then realized my battery was shot as well, so I replaced it with a FullyMax 900mah from Evolv and it's working great now!
11. Just swapped out the defective battery that comes with the Hotcig, with a FullyMax 900mah battery...so far it's working great!
12. I have had the same nightmare with Gearbest and the DX200...the only people willing to help has been (Nick from) EVOLV. It's gotten to the point where Gearbest has just quit answering my emails, and it have gotten no refund or any type of reconciliation. I never thought to contact Paypal, but at this point, I am not sure it's too late.... Note to self: Dont buy from Gearbest.
13. Gearbezt really screwed me over. They offered me the same deal-if I pay a % they would send me a new one and let me keep the defective one-so I took the deal, cuz I figured I would just get the board fixed and have 2 of them....well after 2 weeks I got impatient and emailed them to check the status of my replacement and they replied and said they no longer have any and they are discontinued. So they then switch their offer to return for a full refund or only get refunded 30% and keep the mod...problem is, since I accepted their previous offer, I went and took it apart, removing the stickers and voiding the warranty. I really got screwed...bad
14. OriginVapes is now taking orders for the next round of pre-orders.
15. I looked at the HP Stream, but I don't think it has a regular sized USB port...at least from what I could see. I did look at the WinBook, and it did have the USB Port. I just didn't know if it would support the Escribre software. So, I might have to look at that one, again.
16. I am currently looking to buy a device that runs Windows OS. Being that I currently only own devices that use MAC OS, I find it a nuisance to try and work with Escribe. So, in an attempt to spend as little money as possible, while getting my money's worth, I think that a tablet may be the way to go, however, I am having difficulty finding them. So, my question is, what tablets are compatible with ESCRIBE, specifically? Any help/advice/suggestions are much appreciated.
17. Blueridgedog, Are you saying that a windows tablet will work with escribe just as well as a laptop or desktop?
18. This is what I am thinking about doing, but I am afraid of getting an old version of windows that may not work wits escribe. Do you know what the oldest version of Windows that escribe WILL work with? Such as, will Windows XP be compatible?
19. I've tried all those things about 10 times already...and, no escribe doesn't recognize it at all. That's actually how I realized it went dead, because it was working fine and then all of a sudden a bubble came up on my screen saying USB device was disconnected. I think it's the chip, but who knows.
Go ahead and put in a ticket with us at: http://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add We will do everything we can to assist!
Thanks Nick, I really appreciate it! I received a reply from Hotcig this morning, and so I will venture down that route to remedy this situation. However, it might take another 2 months to get a new mod from them, I feel that it's their responsibility, plus as much as I want to dismantle the mod and figure it out myself, I worry that it will void the warranty, should anything else go wrong.
You are welcome, and thank you! If you have any issues going forward working with Hotcige please do not hesitate to contact me.
Well Nick, it has been a week since my Hotcig went dead, and 1) Hotcig never contacted me back and 2) Gearbest, I feel like, is giving the run-around. So, what steps exactly do I need to do to just get my chip replaced/repaired? Thanks in advance!
20. Wait, same thing happened to me! How exactly do I do this? I am running VB on an iMac...so where do I find this "tools" you speak of? Ok, I found it, but whenever I try to press "ok" it keeps saying "device is not connected"...so is my mod dead?
If an update fails on a VirtualBox setup, you may have to do the manual update via a real PC. I had a failed update that I could not resolve with VirtualBox but did get it to work with a PC. Make certain that the DNA200 is plugged in while booting the PC.
My device is plugged in, however, since I can't turn it on and it shows no signs of life, it is not detecting it. It is devastating and Gearbest is not being very cooperative. They are really screwing me over. I've been contacting them since last Tuesday and have gotten nowhere with them.
21. Ok, I found that and pressed update firmware, but since my mod isn't responsive, it won't let me press "ok". Keeps saying "device not connected".
