  1. Now all we will need is a proper resister to buy, so we can run the full battery analizer test, not having to load up an atty with wire, can be a fire hazard if not done properly, or not having assess to a huge setup of heat sinks. I would think another type of screw on 510 device/resister might be possible. Both of these tools could be made available to mod makers as well so they could do the testing and supply the numbers with their mods. Granted, doing ones own tests on their particular devices at home, would be best!
  2. Great, hope you can make a thread post when you have something. I as going to try and find a proper thread size copper rod, but that's tough where I live. Any idea of ETA?
  3. I don't do Facebook. Perhaps invite Bob Lewis to the site and allow him to post info and links to this "plug", I would buy one.
  4. Topic says it all. Did not see it mentioned in the manual. Wondering what is the best/proper accurate way when running Case Analyzer, NO atty attached, or leave one sitting on the mod?
  5. Thanks for your post, it's the best explanation regarding my experiences so far with my first DNA device, the LavaBox DNA200. I have written and asked for opinions on this topic, and while I always appreciate feedback, I don't believe it's my high VG juice or my standard type build of 6 wrap, 3mm, .33ohm titanium build on a Subtank Mini RBA. Vaping at 480 F, I get to temp quickly, and get the TP message. I tried rewicking using less cotton, same results. Wattage is NOT effecting my vapor production. If I go done to 15 watts, I don't get the TP warning/confirmation message, at 16, I do. Going up in wattage, even as far as 50 watts, gives me the exact same vape. Again, I'm not writing this as a problem, just trying to understand why many seem to be able to control their vape using wattage, when I'm finding temperature is really the main control I seem to have. I see the same results using a different tank, the MORPH, using the titanium Delta 2 LVC .5 ohm coils. My TCR profile is from steam engine and working fine. If someone with a large swing of wattage adjustment can post their build, and details, I would give it a try.
  6. Geez, I know you are smart, but now I gotta say GENIUS!!! First for figuring it out with only my cryptic forum messages as a guide. Then, maybe this should be first, but taking your time to help put a band-aid on a really old bunch of Windows software, many or most, would NOT have been bothered, and given up long a go. I was ready to give up a few messages a go, but then I would see you wrote again, and since you did not toss in the towel, I figured I had to go the distance, and GLAD I did, working, WORKING!!! Now I really know how the DNA200 got so good!
  7. Windows XP SP3. MS I.E. v6.0.2. FireFox 2.0. I D/L'd the file Root-R1, and installed it. Did not cure my issue, I tried making Explorer the default browser, didn't matter. I played till I made Parallels crash. Got lots of screen shots of "certificates", here is one that looks expired. Just updated FireFox to 41.0.2, a far jump from 2.0, and seems to run ok on WinXP. I don't think there are any updates to Explorer as they stopped supporting WinXP as you know. I was hoping the new browser update might solve any "odd" certificates, but NO luck.
  8. That's as far as my mini USB plug goes in as well.
  9. I really wish I could take the screen shot you requested, but since I "approved ", the connection forever, I don't know where in Windows to look for certificates, to delete or reset them to bring about and re-trigger the warnings. Therefore I am stuck here. If you can direct me where to look I'll keep trying. I did spend some time floundering about in Windows, but did not find anything obvious. Sorry.
  10. Thanks James for taking your time here. I could open them both in both Explorer and FireFox. I get a pop up warning about Security Certificates, but then make the choice to accept them permanately. So the answer is YES, I can access them directly via the links you pasted. Back to EScribe, try to log in via the pop up, and I still get the "Unable to Contact the Server", message. And to repeat, if instead of choosing the "LOGIN" button in the popup window, but instead choose "MY ACCOUNT" button below, it currently opens Firefox browser, and I can log in from that browser, but of course that does not help when you have to connect from within Escribe itself. So what besides not being able to use the "Production Utility" am I missing out on? I hope the upcoming Mac software will be compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.8, I know it's long in the tooth now, but many still use it, and I won't be buying a new computer any time soon, this one can not be updated beyond it's current OS. An iPhone/iPad app would be even better, not sure how it would connect to the Mods. Some new models have bluetooth, but not my new LavaBox.
  11. Ran "Case Analyzer", on my LavaBox, quite different then what Volcano stated, but I ASSUME, it would be BETTER, to use the results on gets when testing their own units, since Evolv has such a case analyzer in the Escribe software? Case Thermals (top to bottom in escribe) - 776 805 9.08 15.28 -20 110
  12. Yeah, everything is working, that's the good news. But I'm not really a Windows person so I don't know where to begin trouble shooting why I can't log in from the Escibe app itself. I'm assuming there is not a different registration for a "Evolv" account, and the log in for these forums is identical?
  13. @jbatolovich If you have the proper heat sinks, or used a bunch of big wire in a RBA, then go with your findings. For many the battery pack printed WH's is 9.99 volts, and I hope accurate enough. Evolv or some inventor could perhaps make a buck or two selling a heat sink resistor with a 510 connector, that could be a reference for all DNA200 devices to run the battery monitor test with.
  14. This problem may be hard to diagnose, as I'm a Apple Mac user, running an old version of Parallels Desktop, on an older Mac OS, Snow Leopard 10.6.8. But first let me say, I have not had any problems running the software connecting and uploading/downloading settings from Escribe 1.0.35.2, the latest beta version as of this message, to and from my new LavaBox DNA200. The browser is also an older version of FireFox, but I have full internet access, other then the issue I outline below, which is keeping me from using a few of the built-in Escribe features. Under INTERNET TAB, I click on Log In, insert my email and password, same one used to access this board. "LOGIN ERROR" MESSAGE POPS UP: "Unable to contact the server". However if in the same "Login" box, I click on the bottom link in blue: "My Account", FireFox opens a new window:"https://my.evolvapor.com/account", and I can log into my account, same email/password. This of course is NOT helping in the Escribe software, but it makes me believe my internet connections are working well enough. I've tried turning off any firewall software, like ZoneAlert, etc., no change. I was hoping to access things like the "production utility" in Escribe, but you have to be logged in. As well as the "GET INFORMATION" box in the GENERAL TAB which can get info on the connected device, but again you need to be logged in. I'll move to the Apple Mac based version of Escribe as soon as it's available, but could use some help or advise, now. Thanks!
  15. As a member said above, they don't have it yet. Be patient, this is a good company been around longer then most others. I got mine in two days after placing the order, got one with the battery rattle, from tear downs I've seen online, there should be some kind of spacer wedged in between the battery and the case. I wrote them, heard back in 10 minutes, then they called me. They prefer to send me a new one, and then I return the first one in a pre-paid mailer. You won't see better customer service from any ecig company, and I've dealt with lots! While the battery CSV file will be welcome, it will not stop you from enjoying the device right now. Certainly change the battery Watt hours to 9.99, and pack voltage to 11.1v, as that is something the factory certainly should have done, but if you search and read on this site you will see it's been mentioned. This effects the battery meters accuracy. Good luck!
  16. Interesting as I see depending on what atty you use, you are either able to adjust by watts or not. Something I wrote about here: /topic/67289-topic/ With my Kanger Subtank Mini RBA, and my Ti build, I get right to temp, and watt settings do very little. I'm sure they will make temp setting in main screen a choice with a firmware update, takes too many button presses right now to adjust temp on the fly!
  17. Ok, what would be a good example of a coil build that would "spread the heat"? I have some prebuilt TC coils here as well for a quick test. Not really sure what you are saying regarding maxing the coil at the temp, isn't that the whole idea of TC? Getting to the desired temp and staying there for the duration of the puff.
  18. I believe this mod is working as designed. It hits the temp I set it for, very quickly. The temp protect message as James wrote was originally designed as a WARNING, though now it flashes in most cases as a CONFIRMATION. Since unlike my IPV D2, I do not see a "No Juice" warning message in Escribe, I assume one gets the same TP message when you are nearing a dry hit, as of now I have not drained my first few test tanks to know. As far as 10-200 watt vapor control, it seems to be the same as I have encountered with the D2, meaning I see very little difference in vapor production, or change in such. When I asked about this in the D2 thread, I was told that IPV/YiHi used the wattage setting to RAMP up to the desired temperature, faster/slower, and nothing more. While that kind of made sense, I still could not grasp why one would not want the fastest RAMP up time to get to temp all the time, meaning leaving the D2 at its Max of 75 watts. That device has no preheat setting either. And the iStick 40 TC mod, does not even have any wattage adjustment in TC mode! All your vapor output is via temp settings. I'm not saying anything is wrong or not working properly as I get a good vape at my set temps, just don't see any fine tuning here with the wide spread of wattage settings I have described. Only wish I understood it better. In power mode, kanthal coil, the wattage controls the vapor volume, very simple and what I am used to from the past. Thanks for your interest. I'm sure James and his team are busy, hopefully I will get a more detailed explanation of how wattage is to be used for vapor adjustment as the DNA200 manual states, or not!
  19. here you go, not sure how this pertains, it's the defaults I see.
  20. My Subtank with prebuilt Nickle coil is reading at .12 ohms right now, just put it on. At 10 watts, 450 degrees, takes 3 seconds to hit TP. At 200 watts about 2 seconds. Same amount of vapor. If I want more vapor, I raise the temp. Granted these numbers would be a bit different if the ohms read closer to the .15 the coil should read. Sometimes I cheat a bit, and take the tank on/off and get a slightly higher ohm readout, like now I'm at .13 ohms, more vapor, at same settings. The prebuilt coils are know to have some connectivity issues the way the leads are only captured by the rubber grommets. But on most, at least the ohms don't seem to drift. Not an issue on my RBA builds. Not sure what we have learned here. I setup the LavaBox with 11.1 volts, 9.99 WH. LavaBox/Volcano does NOT setup the Escribe properly so the user must do it. Something Evolv should demand, as a new buyer without using Escibe will get LOW BATTERY messages, far too soon, see these messages on the net all over the place.
  21. Different builds, different coil materials, and different tanks. All behave the same in regards to TP messages and wattage settings. Maybe James will followup.
  22. Not sure your question. James fron Evolv just wrote earlier that everything I described was working as as designed.
  23. Just watching the screen on the LavaBox, even at 10 watts, it gets to my set temp of 470F, very quickly, then of course I see the Temp Protect message, same at 200 watts. So I don't see how wattage can effect vapor much, this on a Subtank Mini, .33 ohm Titanium coil in the RBA. I know a few devices like the iStick 40w TC mod, DO NOT even allow any wattage adjustments in TC mode, only TEMP adjustments. My first TC device was the IPV D2, with its scaled down YiHi chip, similar behavior in terms of what I'm seeing when I adjust wattage on that and the DNA200. Except it does not flash any temp protect warnings, just regulates the temp, but when the wick gets dry, you get a screen message, "NO JUICE". I don't mind seeing the DNA200 temp protect message if that's simply telling me everything is working properly, though in its current usage its really no longer a true "warning", more like a confirmation. I'm still confused as to using the wattage up/down setting, if it makes NO difference in my actual vaping. Perhaps it's just because the added power of having 200 watts available, as well as PREHEAT, which I have left at the default settings? If that's the case, then of course it makes sense to leave my wattage at 10, to have long battery life between charges, no? Just trying to learn the DNA200, you guys did a TERRIFIC job creating this top of the line chip.
