  1. Hanging out at a local shop today on a Sunday and STILL working to ensure you guys get the same Evolv support you know and love.
  2. For anyone that is having issues with their devices and are unable to receive support from the Vendor or Manufacturer please put in a ticket and we will do everything we can to assist that is within our power. I can honestly say the failure rate we are seeing for the volume of boards going out is VERY low. Evolv as a company has no problem admitting if there is a problem, as we have done in the past. The fact of the matter here is that the vast majority of failures we are seeing come back through the door are usually build issues in some way or another. I have personally built the DNA200 devices I use on a daily basis and have had zero issues I did not cause myself.
  3. David, For your board mounting, at the button opposite of the battery + is there anything between that metal support and the board? The board is not designed to have a mounting point on that side, so I would try to insulate it. Also, what are you using to hold the screen? Right now the two biggest issues we are seeing with the VAST majority of returns is one, soldering too cool, for too long and heating the entire board, or soldering too long due to not pre-tinning wires and pre-flowing solder onto pads. I like to solder very hot, very fast in order to avoid heating any surrounding areas. Two, and this is the big one so far, is people using all manner of glues, epoxies, etc. Anything solvent based is a BIG no no especially. Anything other than an electronics grade epoxy or electronic grade RTV/Silicone can and will compromise your board and its components. Electronics grade RTV/Silicone is likely everyone's best bet as electronics grade glue and epoxy is very expensive.
  4. When starting off and getting a temp control build settled in try firing it fairly high powered to start, and then going down to where you want it to be. The board needs to see a large resistance change in order to initially detect the coil as a TC capable coil.
  5. I just had this happen. I had a screw strip/break in one of the reference case designs from Evolv. The threads would not let go of the chip, so tried to delicately drill it out to get the chip out. Boom. Here is hoping I can swap it out! The reference case is great, but the fasteners are very fragile.[/QUOTE] Put in a ticket, we will take care of you! We've all destroyed our fair share of boards, myself included.
  6. We still have a large range of ideas revolving around this, including selling the enclosures and components, etc. We unfortunately do not have an ETA currently.
  7. Also, I wanted to comment as well that I am exploring a way to allow anyone to submit ideas, software enhancements, bug reports etc. I am doing my best to keep up with our support tickets and keep providing the service you all know and love, and be active here on the forums. I have a myriad of weird professional and hobbyist skills that fit great with what we do here at Evolv, with one of the professional skills being large Software development projects for a global industry leading Software company. If anyone is familiar with the SCRUM methodology of Software development, I would love to see us adopt this for EScribe albeit on a much smaller scale as we used SCRUM at companies previously to manage hundreds of development and QA resources. This would allow us to turn each idea or desire into a Development project object, and assign it values for upcoming releases, mark things for the current upcoming release or a later development cycle, etc. Obviously, this is just an idea, and I cannot make any promises, but I just wanted you guys to know we care and are listening to your feedback.
  8. This seems like a swell idea! I'll go ahead and throw it into the ring for possible future Development.
  9. What mod/make is it? Are all the cells reading 4.2v in Device Monitor?
  10. For the people who have a Hotcig mod or are currently talking with them, if you have any info on what specific brand/make and model of cells they are using please feel free to PM me or post it here. We are happy to assist with board issues, etc however it is impossible for us to stock such a massive range of lipos. I am working to compile a list of various mods, their lipo cells, brand, and where to source replacements other than direct. This way I can provide as much info to anyone who contacts us as we want to be as helpful as possible.
  11. That is an acceptable imbalance as long as all the cells are fully charging to 4.2v when the mod finishes charging. If the cells are out of balance to the point of concern the board will actually throw a message stating so.
  12. Bap pretty much hit the nail on the head, the stiffer spring is my favorite part as a good firm connection is key for Temp Control to work reliably.
  13. The main difference is that those 510's on the Reference Mods are made to thread into the case. This allows the 510 to use the case itself as the ground path back to the board via the mounting hardware. It is not necessarily better or worse, just a design choice and also saves the time and space of the additional ground wire.
  14. Okay, thanks for doing some testing for me! I would suggest then getting the board swapped out and opening a Ticket on the main site. We can then get the board returned for examination and get a new one out to you!
  15. I would give it some time to see if the issue still exists. If not I would say then upgrade and see what happens!
  16. Go ahead and get a ticket submitted here via the Help Desk and we will get the RMA process started! http://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add
  17. This is correct for the button swapping feature, and there is also no accelerometer/gravity sensor.
  18. Do not do this. You will absolutely destroy and short your boards. Don't ask me how I know.
  19. The Screen Disconnect value is a running tally, so you can check this at any time to see if an issue is occurring, and in this case I would recommend doing so. I just PM'd you a selection of dated Firmware files I had available. I would recommend something a tad earlier than 8-21 if that is the only file you see in the directory. This means its the current one being used.

Bap is correct, your best bet will be to contact the mod manufacturer for service. Warranty Service is triggered by certain components on the board being out of spec, electrically. The board can continue to function in this state but will fail completely eventually.
  21. To do a reset/rollback go to Tools > Update Firmware to force an update. If you've had escribe installed for awhile all versions of the firmware should be stored locally in the following location: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Evolv\EScribe\Firmware\DNA 200 If you do not have any older versions stored locally let me know. Another thing to try is in EScribe go to Help > About and click the Evolv logo seven times. This will turn on some of the Debug Logging in Device Monitor. Once you open Device Monitor does the Screen Disconnect value read anything other than zero? This would indicate a condition where the screen is randomly disconnecting from the board, such as pinched/broken/fatigued ribbon.
  22. Interesting. I just took a look at various models they are offering, is this the 3s lipo version or the dual 18650 133w version? I would recommend doing a factory reset in escribe, or a roll back a different version of firmware via forced update to see if there is any difference in behavior. If this doesn't help then I would think possibly a hardware issue. Contacting the modder as a first option for possibly having it repaired is likely your best bet. If you don't have any luck with that feel free to submit a ticket and we can see what our options are to assist!
  23. Few questions: -What specific mod is this happening with? -After it wakes up will it continue to fire normally without any other issues? -Before the screen wakes up will the mod fire via the fire button with the screen off? -Will either one of the up/down buttons wake the screen up? Pressing either of those should wake the board as well if the screen is off.
