replacing 250C board and screen, questions after assembly

I doubt if it started out defective. In the past Evolv was very sympathetic towards the hobbyist. you could be the cause of screwing it up and they would still replace it. The board being overheated during soldering is defiantly a possibility. Shorting between the output and ground would have produced a situation where the question mark and ohms readings would fluctuate back and forth as you where making a connection. You might want to repeat that process again just to be sure. Then there's still the problem with your battery cell #4, I'll save the fix for that till after the above problem is addressed. -

I would say defective board then. Could have been defective from the start or possibly from excessive heat from soldering. Open a ticket here with Evolv: https://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=add&category=1 I suspect they will replace it for you. -

Try this: connected to atomizer analyzer short the output and ground for the 510 using a screwdriver or wire and see if you can get it to read something. (the spot that you suspected a solder bridge) Edit: The board must be powered with battery for this to work. -

That's what it should show. That indicates also that there is no short between output and ground. And with an atomizer installed what does it show? -

The board is seeing the battery but it refuses to use it because of cell #4 being out of balance. Again, what does Atomizer Analyzer read with no atomizer attached? It appears that you just might have two problems. So what about that charger for 18650 batteries, do you have one? -

What does Atomizer Analyzer read with no atomizer attached? Also do you happen to have a stand alone charger for 18650 batteries. If so I'll tell you how to use it to bring up the voltage on that #4 cell. I was also wondering if you have a volt/ohm meter. -

In EScribe under "Tools/ Diagnostics/ Perform USB Charging Recovery. This is a very slow process. Note that you are currently charging a 0.199 amps. -

OK, there it is, cell #4 is out of balance. -

Use EScribes Device Monitor, note current voltage of each cell.If one or more is way lower it will not charge. If below 2.5 volts it willnot charge. Report back your findings. Also make sure that you have it set for 4 cells. -

I'm not sure but I pulled the atty off my 250C and on the screen it still said 0.4 ohms. Did you tell it to measure again? What does Atomizer Analyzer in EScribe say with no atty connected? It should have a question mark. -
Videos are not working. Does it connect to EScribe? Is is it powered on with battery? Are you using the onboard fire button?
-
Might the "C" end of your Anker not going in far enough due to the port being recessed (if it is recessed) Edit: I just went back and read the 1st post, so much for the above comment I guess.

Here is my DNA80C boro mod firing at 50 watts with a Samsung 20S 18650 30 amp cell. This standing voltage was 4.1 volts prior to firing (measured with meter). Note the voltage drops to 3.72 volts during firing. Compare yours firing at 50 watts with a cell of similar charge using EScribe's Device Monitor. I'm not seeing any problem with my board.

The DNA80C doesn't have the ability to change the cell software cutoff through EScribe. Normally a hi amp round cell would be set to 2.75 volts. I believe it's set to about 3.2 volts via the firmware. You can use EScribe's Device monitor to see just what the voltage is when it throttles down. It appears to me that it is a connection problem between the cell and the board as your choice of cell is good. The San AIO has/had a similar problem because of the top plate. If your able to easily access the board make sure the 3 mounting screws are tight as that most likely is how they did the ground.

Is it a San AIO?

The power from the batteries have to make it to the board. A few things can stop this from happening correctly. Example, dirty batteriy contacts, loose fitting batteries, weak cell, bad solder joint ect. What board model?
-
Oh so that's how you hook up a charger board on a DNA60/60C that doesn't come with one or have room for one so that it can be connected to EScribe to make changes and/or update the firm ware.I was wondering how folks were doing it.
