vambo Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 Hi, Had my device about 8/9 months been working fine. But has now started to turn off and only work when reconnected to usb 5v. It works for a while after without power connected. If I leave it for a few hours it will then not work, only the blue fire LED lights up. I have changed the battery, but the problem still exists. I have also updated the firmware after the problem started also but the problem will not go away. Does anybody know what the problem is? I have seen it mentioned but no one appears to know what the issue is? VJ
BillW50 Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Yup, the DNA200 board is bad. Time to contact VS.
vambo Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 Another thing I'm noticing is that it is discharging the cells when left unplugged. Thanks, I will contact VS
black lace Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Thats interesting, wonder where the powers going to.. any heat coming off it?

I cannot log in to the VS website (from UK) which is rather annoying. I'll never buy any of this junk again from these, expensive bricks they produce and can't even run a website.
Spector NS5 RD Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 the VS website was down for a few days for maintenance and upgrading. an email was sent out by them saying it was going to be down for a while.
vambo Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Oh, well that explains it. Thanks Chunk. Didn't tell me that though when it let me sign up for an account. I'm still in cooling off mode from the stress it's caused

Oh ok must have been someone els, if your not going to build your own, i would suggest the cheapest you can find, its the board and performance your after, not the box, if its horible you can allways paint it or put stikers on it..
vambo Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 I brought it for size and the 2A /10w charging. Value took a back seat. I was expecting quality though and it has let me down. I am an electrician with basic electronic knowledge. I was hoping someone could tell me what has caused the issue.. It could be just software as it works fine as soon as 5v is connected. Maybe it is to do with the unit switching to standby.. Which it doesn't come out of?.. I love the device it's been great for me used everyday at work and home. I'll wait till they sort the website and use another device in the meantime.
BillW50 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Well if it is the fuse, you know how that goes. Sometimes they just blow for no reason. The middle of last year, Evolv got a batch of fuses that didn't hold up well and that didn't help matters either. If you own meter, you can check to see if it is open. If you can solder small pads, you can replace it too.
black lace Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 I think going through what youve said its the part of the board that governs the battery and its shot.. you need a new board, getting it sorted for nothing would be good..
vambo Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 It can't possibly be the fuse, it works! The fuse is inline with the lipo positive supply, surely it would not fire from the balance lead supply, that would be very silly if it did.

Oh sorry, I must have read it was the fuse in another thread.
Zrat78 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Having same problem with my wismec dna. Plug it into charger comes on. Can unplug from cord. Can use it fine all day even the screen can go off & it will come back on & still work fine. If I let it sit for about 20 to 30 min. I have to plug back in for a second to get it to work again. I did open a ticket yesterday. So see what they say. Wire connection to board is good and fuse is good.
black lace Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Both of you, not you bill, him and him, lol, do a search, titeled "" common problems"" page one.. its a pin locked thread.. Cant put a link up as am on mobile.. are we being trolled bill?
BillW50 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 I don't know BL. I'm mobile too, but on a Windows 8 tablet. The link for common problems is:https://forum.evolvapor.com/topic/65791-topic/
Zrat78 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 I have seen that thread. Those two fixes are not my problem. Fuse is good. Checked with meter. All 3 batteries are new lg's. Have 6 new actually.
BillW50 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Only one thing left Zrat, open a ticket with Evolv.http://helpdesk.evolvapor.com/index.php?a=addYou could try with Wismec support too if it is within the warranty. But I never heard of one single case of that doing any good.
Zrat78 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks bill you suggested that to me in another thread and I did that yesterday from your advice. Thanks.
vambo Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 I have seen the thread, can't see where it mentions the same issue..? Or am I missing it? Well I now know it is discharging the battery on its own, I left it for a few hours and came back it was warm and gone from 40% to 2% strange as I left it lastnight and the battery was ok. This is a new pack so I'll have to disconnect it so it doesn't ruin it early. Cell 2 was below 3v in escribe when plugged in. Surely this is a Evlov issue not VS? Can I not just open a ticket direct with them? VJ
BillW50 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Yes Vambo, I too have one DNA that drains one cell too. So I know it happens. I suppose you could open a ticket with Evolv. But heard that VS customer service is really great too.
vambo Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Now my sister's VS dna200 I brought her is playing up too. In some ways it's good that they have both failed at the same time looks like be sending both of them back together.
Spector NS5 RD Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 yikes, all these shark 200's dying. i'm scared to vape MINE now. i already had to send it out once for a new board (5 days after receiving it new from VS). i hope the dna 200's timing belt or head gasket doesn't go next.
