rice721
So my 2nd DX200 just bricked on me after I tried to update the firmware.I'm running virtual box on a mac. The mod itself does not power on no matter which battery (have a 900mah and 1300mah) I connect it to, nor does it power on when connected to a computer via usb.The mac and the win7 in virtual box still recognizes the mod as a USB device when plugged in: "ELPSCGODWTVO" not a DNA200 evolve device.Help? BillW50
It should power up without any battery and just connected to the USB. And even if it doesn't power up, you still should be able to upload the firmware again. At least on a Windows machine. I am not sure if that is still true on a Mac. A_Yatko
Dude! Ive been searching everywhere for someone having this same issue, I thought I was the only one. Im in literally the same exact situation, Im also using virtualbox and I tried updating the firmware and now my dna is bricked, I looked at the usb tab in virtual box and it also reads a bunch of numbers similar to yours.Did you happen to find a solution by any chance? This legit happened to me the day I got my box and I havent even been able to use it yet so Im desperately looking for an answer to this issue.I really hope you figure it out! BillW50
That "ELPSCGODWTVO" looks like the DNA200's serial number to me. So that sounds promising that something is still alive on the DNA200 board.
A_Yatko
Hmm interesting... Is there any way one can manually make the device go back to its factory settings even if escribe does not recognize it? I appreciate you saying that, it gives me hope! Haha
BillW50
The other thing I can think of without EScribe is to remove the battery for a few minutes. But depending on the mod, that could be a very difficult thing. Taking an educational guess, rebooting by removing the battery is similar to a hard reboot. rice721
So for those of you having the same issue, I got it fixed. You're going to need a windows computer with escribe and force a firmware update. What happened was for some reason when you were updating your firmware in virtual box, it failed causing your device to brick. But if you force an update on a windows computer your device comes back to life. Hope this helps.

acorpcop
Wish I had known about this work around a month and a half ago. Had the same thing happen with my DNA 200 on a VM under Ubuntu. I really hate having to boot to windows just to fiddle with my mod.
netranger6
Same happened to me, with my Lavabo. Was updating firmware in VM, and bam, it was a brick. Sent it back, got a new one. Not messing with it until I borrow brother in laws Win based lap top. Was a pain in the ass even getting VM to recognize USB.
