  1. Yea...oddly though I really like the OSX operating system but that reason alone keeps me on Android for mobile. Love the BSD kernel (though mutated at this point), the familiar shell, ease of compiler use, workflow etc...but the phone scares the heck out of me. The future of mod to human data interface is at the phone level though. I know lots of folks now that generally do their "computing" with a phone primarily (news, banking, entertainment, video conferencing...and the list goes on). I made calls, share texts, love the camera (pixel), use the heck of out the hotspot, and use the internet for questions that pop into my head while I am lying in bed thinking about a problem.
  2. Now now now. I run OSX on my own hardware, install my own code and code from others outside of the "store" (which I don't use). I use my preferred shell, development tools and have a pretty good GUI. If I could get some of my 3d modeling tools to run in Linux, I would not need it at all, but I do like the general workflow of using it. Now for the "run it on the mac I bought" crowd...yea the OS has constraints. The applications I have purchased are all outside of the app store. If they end that...then me and many other tech geeks will drop them. Windows has gotten better (still a bit ugly though).
  3. Thank you sir. Any manufacture you know of putting a DNA75c in a decent mod?
  4. So they are back in business! Good. Can't click the Mirage link yet, but great that they have resolved their issues.
  5. ...also when I search for Mirage on their site I get zip. The mirage is my go to mod, but now that ebay is dead on vape, I can't even find used ones.
  6. Where are you seeing those. I can't find any of them on the site. Can you post a link?
  7. That is a bit draconian. Yes it still works with the version of mono in Ubuntu LTS, but not with most other distros current version. It will not work with my current install and that is "out of the box". An update would be welcome as a number of linux users stay current for many reasons. I for one upgraded to get the latest plasma so I could better use HiDPi monitors. Evolv seems to be focusing on some other product or issue at the moment. Perhaps we shall see. Based on the number of devices commercially available with their chip, I am not certain they are even aggressively still in the game. My daily mods are well worn and I have had to resort to building some to keep working ones on hand as I can't find "off the shelf" replacements.
  8. Not too hard. https://www.mono-project.com/docs/compiling-mono/parallel-mono-environments/
  9. I have run linux constantly since 1994. I have two primary systems at my house, a Linux desktop and a Mac desktop. I have had to update Mono on the Linux system as it is also running my home automation system, but the only time I need to run eScribe is when I get a new mod, and that is rare since the company that made the ones I like closed and I can't find a manufacture of DNA75C equipped mods.
  10. Made a nice smallish mod. Going to put a 250 in one with a 3 cell lipo.
  11. Thanks. Been a while since I put one together...been buying LostVape gear but they have imploded and I can't find a decent mod with an evolve chip for love nor money.
  12. I am building up a ABM-1 enclosure and they supply a try for a 20700 that joins the battery negative to the case metal/atomizer. See: http://analogboxmods.ca/image/cache/catalog/parts/battery_holders/20700/ABM1-1x20700-2-800x700.jpg So, I will still run a negative from the battery to the chip for charging, but two questions: Will this work? I have never run battery negative to the case before Do I need to also wire it to the chip output end ground? I think not since the case is metal and the ground path would then be the screws. Thanks for your input. Not clear on why the battery negative is run to the case.
  13. Thanks. I have seen those, and am looking at these: http://analogboxmods.ca/Box-Mod-Parts/Enclosures/ABM-1-CNC-Aluminium-Enclosure My real preference is just to buy a mod with an Evolv chip, but they are getting rare now that Lost Vape seems to be imploding. If Evolv is shipping them out, I have no idea where they are ending up as a mod is getting harder and harder to find.
  14. I was going to pickup a few mods as my regular ones are getting a bit beat. I can't for the life of me find a DNA mod to buy that takes one 18650 or better yet one 21700. I use two Mirages in rotation and love the 21700. Where are all the chips going? Even the enclosures from protovape are out of stock (I have several boards so just decided to build some, but alas no). So if you know of 75C, 200C or 250C mods other than the 3x18650 or 2x18650 beasts let me know. If you have some of the 75C enclosures to part with, that works too!
  15. Odd. What I quoted was the target from Apple. Perhaps they have changed plans?
  16. Running on mint19. Just jumping in here to be subscribed to the thread.
  17. It appears that 32 bit applications should run in 10.14, but not 10.15. If you have a developer release of 10.14 and Escribe is not running, I would look elsewhere for the problem.
  18. Ah...I did not know you were using an external button. That adds a few more layers of things that could go wrong. In addition to the above possibilities, your external button could be hard shorted for "on" or you could have build a solder bridge on the DNA chip when installing the button. So bad built in button, bad external button or solder bridge. All of which should be able to be tested with an meter. Yes, if it is the built in button, then it goes back, but my money is on a fat solder job or a bad external button. Test with a meter for an open short when the button is not pressed. If you get something other than infinite resistance, then you have a short...bad button or fat solder joint.
  19. I have had this issue with a fire button that was depressed due to build issues (button was too thick). Other than that, you could have a defective fire button. If you have a multimeter you can check the button.
  20. Try another cable. All my devices connect to my three Macs, but not on all of my cables.
  21. Using the "tab" key, at times it cycles in reverse (moving up a box or button vs down one). I have not figured out what triggers it.
