Translations

If anyone is interested in helping translate EScribe into their native language, I've posted a Github:

https://github.com/Evolvapor/EScribeTranslations

You can edit these and send pull requests for changes. (Or use a software like TortoiseGit, or e-mail.) It being on Github should make it easier to make corrections etc. hopefully. (Does anyone know if there is a better service for this for translations?) Thank you! :)

Sorry, too lazy to learn how to work with Github but here's the Dutch translation (v1.0):
(download link removed)
EDIT: Solved; Problem was due to the non-acii characters. I saved the file in UTF-8 and it all works.

Here is the Dutch translation file v1.1:

Hello,

Thought I should clarify one thing:

I noticed Material Profile is translated as TCR-curve. This is not technically correct: a graph of temperature coefficient of resistance would be the derivative of this graph. With a constant TCR, a TCR-curve would be flat, but our curve (the scientific term of the Y axis is electrical resistivity) is linear in that case. Steam Engine has been calling this table TFR ('temperature factors of resistance'). We called it Material Profile. TCR-curve would be a different curve.

Thanks for the input.

I changed it in file v1.5 to "TFR-curve" and to avoid confusion, I also changed the "TCR-wikkeling" (=TCR coil) to "Temperatuurvoelende wikkeling" (=Temp sensing coil).

Hello Bobby,

I've added this to the latest EScribe (1.0.35 2015-10-20). Thanks!

James

Nice James, I feel honored.B|

I have added the extra entries of EScribe v1.0.352 to the Dutch translation (file v1.6 see my post #3).

I cannot get the following translations to work:
Nothing connected window: everything except button labels (you already know this)
Atomizer Analyzer window: explanatory text and button labels

Hmm. The issue might be, the lines in Nothing Connected are all separate translations instead of being a single message.

Hmm, before it was multiple lines in one msgID.
Anyway, that did the trick. One down, one to go

Working on a German translation of EScribe 1.0.35.2. But one msgid is missing. In options menue “Automatically Connect to Device”. Tried to add it, but it won’t translate. I guess, I’m typing something wrong. Could somebody provide the correct msgid?

Thanks, tc

There is & in front of the D in Device: "Automatically Connect to &Device"
(This is to give it a shortcut key.)

We actually received two German translations. I was going to put in soulvape's, from GERMAN DNA CREW, but miwu sent me one which is exactly the same except that the credits, GERMAN DNA CREW, is instead his vendor website. He is claiming his is the original. We've not had a conflict of claimed authorship for any other language. Still haven't decided what to do. Thoughts are welcome.

James, who has send it to you first ?  Please read my PM's...

Has soulvape even the new translation for version 1.0.35.2? No? Ask yourself why;)

I just added v1.7 of the Dutch translation (see post #3).

The following MsgId's are not accepted and are therefor not translated:

#. General tab -> Atomizer Analyzer (already reported)
msgid  "For an atomizer to work reliably with temperature ............. being used for power control only."
msgid  "Many atomizer designs provide stable Ohms, but .............. will measure once per second."
msgid  "To test, slowly change how tightly screwed in your ..............atomizer Ohms should be stable."
msgid  "Note: Recent puffs may mean the atomizer is still ................will slightly warm the atomizer."
msgid  "{0} (Kanthal), {0} (Temp)"
msgid  "&Lock Ohms"
msgid  "&Unlock Ohms"
msgid  "&Override Ohms"

#. Device Monitor --> Debug
msgid "Bandgap:"
msgid "Sample Ohms:"
msgid "Sample Ohms (T.C.):"
msgid "Modeled Temp:"
msgid "Screen Disconnect:"
msgid "Timer:"

#. (The next two are not absolutely necessary but would make it perfect)
#. General tab -> Ohms locked
msgid  "? (70 °F)"
#. Theme tab
msgid  "All default screens Copyright 2015 Evolv Inc. For use only in Evolv electronics."

Suggestion: If temperature is "off" in the profile, hide all the Material and Preheat settings.

It would also be nice with future Escribe releases to include a full English EScribe.po file with all MsgId's. It would be a huge timesaver.

Hmm. soulvape, that video shows for the 29th?
The first e-mail I received from you about translation is indeed earlier, on the 19th (but the link didn't work when I tried it, admittedly a week later - is the 23rd the same link?), and the first from miwu is the 30th.

Bobby, the "Example Language File.po" is fairly complete I believe. I should probably just rename that one to en\EScribe.po

Well... I guess 'fairly' is the right term ;-)

I added 86 MsgID's more (of which the previously mentioned 16 are not recognized).
I took them out and put them in a text file: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=20146860099364243548

@ Bobby,

You see our Polish translation

e.g
# ©
msgid "All default screens Copyright 2015 {0} Inc. For use only in {0} electronics."
msgstr "all default screens Copyright 2015 {0} Inc. for use only in {0} electronics."

msgid "Customized screens are copyrighted by their respective creators."
msgstr "customized screens are copyrighted by their respective creators."

#. The default example just changes everything to lowercase.
