New to Dna chips my vt 200 never asks if it's a new coil when I change why is that ? And in temp mode I'll have it set to a wattage and it will never get to it even if I have it at like 50 watts and 500 degrees do you have to make a tcr curve for every coil? And is it better to lock ohms or not because I've seen quite a few posts saying don't lock them? Just using ni200 for now

If you are not in temp mode it never asks if it is a new coil as you are vaping in power mode (wattage).  In temp mode you only get enough wattage to reach and maintain the temp setting thus a 50 watt setting may not be needed.  Example: I vape at 400F @ 24 watts with a nickel coil. It briefly hits 40-ish watts (during preheat) and immediately drops to 20-ish watts and then 13 watts and lower after reaching temp. It only uses the wattage needed to maintain temp.

Some folks lock ohms and others don't I never use ohm lock as I want the device to "refine" along the way.

It only asks new/same coil if the resistance is within 25% of the last coil (this can be changed in Escribe)
You only need to make a TCR for wire other than Ni200 or Kanthal
I almost never lock ohms, if you lock them then the DNA can not refine them for greatest accuracy.
