14ga vs 16ga 510

I can't possibly fit 14GA wire for the firing pin on the 510 connector I have. How bad is this? Should I worry and set my MOD to lower Max limit? Thanks!

I used 12 gauge to the 510 connector, an FD version 4.  What I did was bring the wire in at right angles rather than straight in to the center pin.  I pulled out enough wire to filled the center hole and "fanned" the rest out around the pin.  After soldering, I trimmed the fan flush with the sides of the pin.  Took some time and fussing, but it worked out really well.  If you cn bring the wire in at right angles, it might work for you, either that or get a different, Evolv, 510 connector.

On Varitube you can drill out the bottom brass cover/spring-retainer a little to get a bigger wire in.

I have the veritube wasn't sure if that lip was 100% needed to to hold the spring in place, guess not thanks! Evolv needs to get their 510 out.

You can just about drill and keep the lip, but with the big wire it is not essential IMO.

That is a good point. I wish I went with the FD but due to shipping it didn't make sense. I'll patiently wait for a local source of the evolv 510 and upgrade then if needed...

I prefer the VT to the FD any day, but as you say the Evolv 510 is a class apart.

Yeah not paying like 40 cnd for a 510 connector after shipping and conversion...and than waiting a month due to holiday shipping delay
