  1. OK, that sounds good.

I just was confused abbout the explicit mentioning of the 18650 in the battery settings.

Then it would make sense to just mention Li-ION in that dropdown menu instead of mentioning a specific battery-size.

With "my theme question" you mean my post in the themes section asking for confirmation that the "Simple Theme xxx.v.2.0.4" is working on the Therion ?

    *confused again!*

    😉

... anyway... Thanks for the clarification about the batteries !

  2. Just wondering,...

since there is no update on EScribe since the release of the Hyperion model; shouldn't it be updated because of the different battieries I can use in the mod ? (20/21700) I still can only choose between Li-Ion18650 or Li-Po in the settings, but no 20700 or 21700 Li-Ion which (should) have different curves and other characteristics.

I inserted a 21700 curve anyway, but it would be nice if the software can correspond to the correct hardware/values. Maybe also some other values/internal calculations need some adjustment, but I am no battery guru... just thinking, because its a different size/volume of the battery so there should be differences.

The problem with EScribe on Linux is (technical explanation follows): in its library HidSharp. Specifically, since Mono (and Xamarin) were purchased by Microsoft, they've been making the code on Mono act more like Windows. They altered how ICustomMarshaler operates on Mono (now its behavior matches Windows), and it broke HidSharp on Linux. Newer versions of HidSharp fix it.

It's working fine on Linux in my development version. We could make an intermediate release for Linux, as long as folks are fine with it being explicitly a test version. Well, I guess this thread has always been named Beta Thread? :)

As long as it works on an out-of-box ubuntu installation I don't care how you call it, beta, test, developer or whatever version 😉

I want only 2 things: It has to work (I even don't care about the designer plugins or that puff counter stuff),

and it should not F*ckup my system.

As long as these points are granted I would be happy 😉

BTW: Would it be easier to make a snap install ? I'm not a linux guy but I recognized that a lot of software isnow a snap... whatever that is :-S

You have the option of fixing what you broke or install a VM or a clean machine on which it will work.

Or I just use my 2nd OS which is a stable windows ;-)

Not that I wanna excuse myself, but when you grew up with windows (I started 94 with win 3.11 for workgroups) then Linux can be a challenge.

Yes, its nice and (hopefully) more secure and less intrusive, but I don't heve the time to get deeper into it to frickle around with it to get something running that WAS running fine until the last upgrade.

I expect from an OS that it runs and do what was advertised. I expect the same from a software (even if its free). If it stops working, then I switch or doesn't use it anymore.

Evolv seems to be focusing on some other product or issue at the moment.

If you go to the Lost Vape webpage and try to look for any DNA X Mod (and I mean REAL Mods, with removable batteries and DIY Coils, like DNA75, 250...) then you will see where the focus is.

I already wrote an email to them that it is a shame to remove all content of these (sustainable) devices and go for these "throw away" shit pod systems (like everybody else, it seems). I am also shure that humanity will end soon because no one seems to care about waste production, saving energy and ressources, clean landscapes and water, health of millions, or whatever makes/made this stinking pile of plastic-shit called planet eath attractive for living.

Well, China and USA for shure do not give a shit. Others only as long as it does not interfere with their capitalism system. So it seems we will all die in a pile of used pods and empty coffee-to-go cups ;-)

  5. I removed escribe completely... as it wasn't working with mono 5.18, and I don't have time nor patience to go deeper into that problem.

I will keep an eye on this thread to see when there is a solution for it so it will work again on linux.

BTW: Why isn't there an android app for it ? Would be nice to attach my pad to my mod and change settings while I am at work or in a train... just a thought 😉

    Glad to help you ;-)

    @zark

Sorry, but I don't understand you when you write kyrillic.

For this reason I don't allow the combination "Temp Sensing Material"  AND "Replay" in my enhanced themes.

"Replay" is only provided for power mode with material selection "Watt".

Thats a good idea. The developers of the mod-software/escribe should think about implementing this as a standard !

  7. Still not working on the latest ubuntu (and I installed and locked the Mono version to 5.18)

It starts, reads the settings of the attached mod, and then shuts down after a few seconds.

    😞

Did someone contacted the helpdesk in the meantime ?

You might open a ticket with Evolv and explain the issue and give the crash log info.  Ask that this be given to James........  he doesn't get by here that often.......  here is the link....

  8. Hi Guys,

I was visiting the SmokerStore Shop in Dortmund yesterday (very nice and competent stuff working there) and we talked about some things.

When I mentioned that I am experimenting at the moment with high ohms coils the guy behind the counter told me, that the general problem would be the max Output Voltage comming out of a regulated mod.

As the manual (of the 250C chip) is not really going into details (it only says in general min. Output Voltage 0.2 Volts max. 10.0 Volts, but that (I guess) would be in a 4 batteries setting).

So I searched this forum (and online) and I could not find a definitive answer to my question, which is the max Voltage output of the (triple battery) Triade, (and maybe also the dual battery old Therion 75).

    For example:

I like to build a 1.3Ω single coil with a standard 26AWG/0.4mm Kanthal A1 wire, ID=3mm, so steam engine calculates 9 wraps, and a mod setting of 28 Watts with a Voltage of 6.1 V.

Can the Triade deliver the 6.1 V or what is the max possible Voltage limit ? Would be nice to know because if there is a limit to it it would rule out some other builds if the mod can not deliver.

As always, thanks for your help in advance !

PS: If you know the limits of the old (not-c) therion 75, I would be interested in that value too ! As it would make sense to vape a high ohm coil on a small 75 W (2 battery) mod, as only +-20 W are needed, for example with a Flash-e-Vapor atty.

Also if there is a way to calculate the value, pls enlighten me... (at least from the manual it could not be the voltage of the batteries x number of batteries, as that would give the max Output Voltage of the DNA250C with 4 x 4.2 V a higher value as the mentioned 10.0 V)

  9. Its shurely just a question of getting used to it.

When you start up your mod it will start with the last used profile.

To switch through the profiles you just highlight the top entry (profile name) with the middle button) and then go forward or back (top or bottom button).

If you found the profile you want to use, un-highlight it with the middle button.

It shurely helps to give the profiles an informative name. I use the atty names, like Phobia, GT3, GT4, etcpp.

  10. Got a new Drone 2 weeks ago, and also own a Phobia. Running it with simple round SS304 dual coil wich gives me 0.111Ω.

    TC and Replay working fine.

So, dual coil and/or material is not an issue. Also its not a problem of the atty.

But I have a PulseX with a "fancy" Alien SS316L dual coil (0.214Ω) where Replay is also not working, not giving me the "SAVE" option on the display.

So I guess its the complex wire which creates the problem with Replay.

    @drjohnson61

When you do Replay, do you run it in SS316L mode or do you switch to Watt  as material ?

Because Replay combined with TC is a mess, as they work against each other, because TC tries to calculate the optimum Temp/Watts, and at the same time Replay tries to recreate the last saved puff.

So try to run Replay with Wattage, or TC without Replay.

Replay is NOT TC ! So use only one of them at the same time.

Lots of people are getting confused with this. I did this in the beginning too, as I thought it would be "common sense" to use the correct material and then use Replay on it.

    But in practice its counterproductive.

Hope this helps to solve your problem.

If not, then maybe try a simple wire.

Also the source of the problem could be your low resistance.

The official manual is not very clear on this, but I found a review where these numbers are mentioned (related to the DNA250C chip):

    • Min Kanthal Resistance: 0.1ohm
    • Min Temperature Resistance: 0.08ohm

So your 0.058Ω is out of that range. But I wonder why you don't get a "Ohm too low" message...

Did you try this atty on a different mod ?
