1. Yes, assuming you're connected to the internet and it's pushed as an update. Sometimes, the new firmware comes with an updated version of EScribe. If that is the case, it will be available the first time you plug in your mod after installation.
2. Thank you basilray! We use a XT-30 connector for the battery. And we do sell the replacement lipo pack separately, the XT-30 male connector will be pre-attached to the power cables on the battery. So if users need to service batteries, they can just easily plug into the female connector which is attached to the battery terminals. Thanks Rocky
Nice! I'll take one in black.
3. This does look pretty hot. Question for the Lost Vape crew: What connectors are used for the battery? Will replacements be readily available, or will users have to source and then get connectors wired in order to swap/service batteries?
4. Warranty repair is generally handled by a manufacturer, so I'd assume that HCigar or whoever would be the ones handling that. My guess is that your best recourse will be going back to the source you purchased from. I'd assume they have some sort of replacement plan in place w/ foreign manufacturers, and in turn, those manufacturers will warranty boards to Evolv. But I'm just guessing...
5. Interesting! Can you link us to some of those batteries that you've found? I'd be curious to see what's out there.
6. I may be in the minority, but I have a nickel Opus, and kind of like the smudgy patina'd look.
7. Are you saying Escribe is not working for you on Windows 10?
I've been using EScribe on Windows 10 since the OS was released on 7/29 with no issues whatsoever.
I haven't been able to use EScribe since upgrading from Win Pro 8.1 x64 to Win 10 Pro x64. I was in the beta, and had zero issues w/ the software in Win 8.1, so it's weird. The app opens, but is 100% unresponsive after it opens. I have tried everything short of a new install of Windows...
8. Still no Windows 10 love. I think James doesn't want me messing w/ my profiles.
9. What is your lock resistance set to in EScribe? I believe the default is 25%
10. I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64. I did the in-place upgrade from 8.1 Pro x64. Across all the versions I still have from Beta and the most recent ones, I don't think any of them with profiles worked. The only one I KNOW worked was a very early one pre-profile. Feel free to DM me for more details or if there's anything you want me to try, James!
11. Just a bump back up, while I patiently await a fix.
12. I'm not sure I understand the concern here. While China may be able to produce a device at a lower price point, that won't and doesn't stop people from buying more expensive devices. Now, if your plan was to produce something targeted at the low-price end of the spectrum, then perhaps that cuts into your sales numbers. But it would seem anyone selling a product or service should expect to have competition, assuming the product/service is a viable one. However, if your plan was producing a low-cost DNA200 device, shouldn't you have been just as worried around the 350J chip coming out? Shouldn't you be just as worried about the ever-growing number of China temp limited devices (regardless of how poorly many of them perform) being available at such low prices? At the end of the day, electronics power a mod, but they don't necessarily define it. People like nice things and they like choice. If that's what you're offering customers, then China can't really compete with your product. Service is another crucial aspect. People will pay a premium for better service...just ask Verizon. Just because you can't match a Chinese mass-production price, if you're still providing a quality product backed with good service, I would expect some success to be realized. On the flip side, if the concern is "mouths to feed"...don't you think Evolv has mouths to feed as well? Should they limit who they sell a component to in order to give you a leg up? Does Evolv "owe" some sort of special treatment to American manufacturers because they are based in the US? That seem short-sighted. It is also not a very profitable business tactic. Are you ONLY allowing YOUR products to be sold to Americans as well? Or are you holding Evolv to a different standard?
13. IDK, I'm running Win 10 Pro x64...
14. You should be able to disable the temp protection warning in EScribe. Sounds like that's what you're after.
15. I did check last night, and there were a couple of pretty innocent looking x64 updates that were out there. I just uninstalled EScribe and did some registry purging, and checked again for Windows updates. Same result. The app installs, opens, then basically becomes unresponsive. I've also tried a few of the past versions of the software, to see if compatibility with Windows 10 MIGHT have been there, but something in a more recent software release is causing an issue. 7-16, 7-14, and 7-09 all have the same issue when running the app...which is exactly what I expected (not sure if all those versions were made public...so if you are all "where did he get those!?!" my bad! ). As a test to see if it has something to do w/ modifications to the way programs are allowed to run from the user profile location in Windows 10, I installed it to C:\EScribe as a test...and the result was the same. Interestingly enough, one of the very first versions of EScribe that was released DOES look to work. But so many features have been added since then, that it's unusable, really. At this point, from a software troubleshooting standpoint, I feel like I've exhausted the standard line of options. I'm sure the brains over at Evolv will sort it out in short order.
16. I grabbed what looked to be the latest version of EScribe, and reinstalled. Tested every possible compatibility mode combo I could. The one thing I haven't done is tried installing to a different location. I also haven't looked for any registry keys that may have been related. I could see that being an issue based on upgrade.
17. Same boat here. Upgraded to Win 10, and EScribe hates me now.
18. Just to be clear, you're keeping different profiles for Ni200 and Ti, right? So what you're saying, is that you're switching between two profiles on the mod when you switch atomizers?
19. Likely a build issue, or a connection between the mod and atomizer issue. If the device can't accurately get a reading on the fluctuation in resistance, it will assume it's kanthal and the wattage limit will kick in.
20. If this is a DIY mod, shoot us a pic of the wiring. I'm curious how you have it grounded. If you ran a negative ground from the board to the negative on the 510, you wouldn't need to use the mounting holes w/ screws. However, if you did have a metal enclosure and used those mounting holes to ensure a ground, that ground wire to the 510 isn't necessary. Your pre-heat settings will make a difference here as well, so a quick rundown of how you're set in EScribe would be nice.
21. UGH! No more changes, John! I swear...if you keep making this thing better, the tutorial will be useless.
22. Version 9.5 is going up now, but sadly, I couldn't accommodate the addition of a full-screen option for the video.
23. Uploading version 9.5 now. No real content changes/additions, mostly just a few tweaks...hence the .5 increment in revision numbers.
24. I'm going to be doing a round of tweaks on the course later this evening. I'll see if I can modify the video to allow for a "full screen" option, though I think the design software that I'm using to build the overall course framework is a bit limiting in that respect I think. I've already enforced a policy that when you launch the course, it should resize your browser to full-window, then expand the course to fit within...so if it's not behaving that way, let me know. Right now, as it stands, that's the best option for viewing. I did float the idea of cross-posting the videos to my YouTube channel by Brandon, and he didn't object (but didn't say "Do it!" either). What I MIGHT do is either re-record them or upload the copies that actually have video of me narrating along with the video in the lower corner.
