  1. looks good to me, I like the 2/3 choice, would have prefered a lipo option like the duo but the 2 cell looks very similar to the smoant batttlestar. which is very easy in the hand. Yep, could be one on my wish list.
  2. could be the fuse? Someone might be able to expand on that thought but no screen points that way. cell 2 voltage is too high, should be 4.2v have you checked the battery profiles? Have you checked the batteries or at least a different pair
  3. great news, it can be a pita getting everything to work all at once. I knew that there was a problem with one of the high end atomisers but couldn't for the life of me remember which one. I've been using SS316 since the SP series of updates, before that SS was terrible, just a huge spike Now it seems to take a little while for the coil to settle possibly only 0.01 in it but enough to make 40-50 degrees C difference. And then like the atomiser I'm using now, it reads 0.16-0.17 probably goes from 0.165 to 0.171 on escribe cold and that can vary 10-15C from day to day. Actually its reading 0.18, must need rewicking?
  4. hi, didn't the snapdragon have a base/ 510 spring issue with TC or am I thinking of a different atomiser? the constant over heating/ under heating is a resistance fluctuation, either a loose screw, the 510 or the coil shorting between wraps. It could have been warm when you swapped meaning that the mod took the warm resistance as "base' and had to overpower to reach the calculated limit , then when it was cool it was running true and only heating to 120c. TBH I don't mess with profiles swapping between atomisers , I don't use preheat either . The SP updates have smoothed out power delivery enough to set a power, a temperature and let the board regulate itself.
  5. The kanthal trick works because the resistance doesn't change, simply the board goes preheat>not TC>powermode. I can see what you are hoping to achieve but I would guess that you need to set preheat to reach your desired max then adjust running power to a level that does not allow TC to operate whilst still heating up the coil. Then when you would have to set it up by the live result of mod monitor? It can't be that big a coil not to work in power mode without preheating it. I use a 26g 3 core parallel fused juggernaut claptrap in an aeronaut. But I still wouldn't want to flash 150w through one even for half a second.
  6. thanks for the reply Mr Bad, I'll revert to OE soft cut on the next battery change. The contacts are clean, its a new mod but I've taken to making sure everything is these days, mods, batteries, atomisers. I'll see how things go with the VTC4s and consider setting aside a pair of the new VCT5s that I use in my Tesla series mods.
  7. 2 days into DNA75 ownership... initially I reset the soft cut to 3.2 and the board decided to start flashing the battery bar at the half way mark. That was at 30w 9amp load. When I put the battery (vct4) into the charger the display read 18%, which was pretty damned close to the discharge curve. No issues with the curve, but disappointing that the meter seems to be either way off under load or at least optimistic off load. Will this mean another upcoming bug fix update? I've now reset the soft cut to 3 volts but my concerns are that the battery could be discharged to under 15% and still show 50% on the meter. peak amps... I think that the mod would have to be running dual 18650s or a lipo? to give any hope of any decent vape time. But there you go, it's only a maximum number not a necessity.
  8. Thats pretty much the coil dimensions I came up with using 316, but using parallel 0.4mm with a 0.18mm wrap. A pair came out at 0.14 ohms. I don't use any preheat with SS, prior to the SP updates it used to make the limiting very peaky. There is a tiny temp bump coinciding with the preheat spike, the rest of the temperature climb is power over time. Otherwise escribe is mostly registering the power spike and drop with the same rate of temperature increase. Going only on what I use myself, horizontal coils not vertical; I'd say drop the preheat, try 100w maybe 110 and you should hit the limiter, call me pedantic but I found that twisted core seemed to have unstable resistance. If you are happy with the vape you could always drop the temperature limit to 410, turn down the preheat to 100-120 just to see where your graph stats are. You could just be taking an initial vape off the P/H?
  9. just had a Vt-inbox delivered and trying to set it up. The first onscreen message was weak battery I've now installed the latest firmware, so much for out of the box vaping a) max input is OE set at 32amps.... really? Is there something I'm not expecting from my batteries b) soft cut off was 2.8v? on top of which....it looks like my 'in daily use' single cell 30Qs and 25Rs won't cut the mustard. @fully charged' 4.19v sagging to 3.4v VTC4s looking slightly better sagging to 3.6 @ 15a before TC cuts in and holding 3.9 @ 9a
  10. could be one mod, the lipo is nearly 12 months old now, perhaps the VCT5s in the Rolo are getting tired but I don't thrash them and tbh they really don't even get constant use as it only gets used odd evenings, fairly new lipo in #3. Coil appears OK, wouldn't be surprised by an imbalance with a dual coil set up but not so much a single parallel. No apparent shorts between wraps on dry burn, plenty of solid clamping on the Aeronaut and the contacts are clean. I'll run escribe again and check for any cell drops or resistance changes. Still not utterly convinced that the SP3 update hasn't made lasting changes to the non-user progammable side of things.
  11. Thanks Cloudchaser....this was the post I was about to make, all three of my DNA200s are doing this now in wattage and seem to be taking their time ramping up too. I'm using a single 0.34 ohm parallel clapton at 70w and the display is holding for a moment at 44.5w, sure its its smooth but not what I have become used to with 11-12v and 50 A in reserve. its definitely a two stage event. I used a steam engine profile for Nichrome and Kanthal to see if they were any different to the new 'watts' material setting. No change. And call me a 1/1000 difficult customer because I have noticed it since the latest SP3 update. I still keep losing the battery meter when I update profile settings on Escribe and the I still can't measure the internal resistance because it just registers ???? Has the DNA board somehow been newtered by refining TC modes? is there any way of actually removing ALL of the SP firmware? I've tried stepping it back and I'm left with the new SS, Ti and Watts profiles and I'm still experiencing the niggly bugs that came with it.
  12. update. All have been to zero, cleaned the 510s again and taken the surface off the copper tool. Its clean. All have been checked prior to reboot, the soft reboot performed and re-run the analyser and the results are wismec Rolo, OE 0.003 before update 0.004 before reboot 0.007 now 0.007 DNA200 before update 0.007 before reboot 0.012 after reboot 0.010 but not holding steady reading its flashing ?-0.010-?-0.011-?-0.012 and only reads ? when fully screwed in. SMY-DNA200 before update 0.004 after update....0.009 after reboot.....won't give a reading now with the copper tool in any position
  13. I'm having a moment of regret, admittedly the temperature protection has improved. I can now use SS with the confidence I previously only had with titanium. (I just can't get on with ni200). However there seems to be a cost in power mode, I never thought I would say it but at 45w my evic mini now gives better delivery than my DNA200s. I've had to up the power to 65w to reduce rampup, something that I have never had to do. Which brings me to some questions. Why has the internal resistance changed on my mods? Is this part of the firmware smoothing that has improved the response of temperature protection? I have 3 mods 0.003, 0.004 and 0.007. Checked regularly enough but are now 0.007, 0.009 and 0.011-12 Atomiser analyser won't actually register a constant with the copper tool screwed in and only then give a reading as the tool is unscrewed. surely my mods can't have zero resistance now? Is the board now compensating? How do I remove the old material profiles? The old preloaded steam engine profiles of ti, ss and ni200 can't be removed from the system. I've noticed that the ss316 profile is slightly higher than the previous steam engine profile by about 0.02. Reading into this (could be wrong) but this is now a generic SS profile?
  14. yes the 316 profile is superb, running dual 0.5mm coil 0.14ohms @100w and its almost faultless... ......'temperature protection' doesn't flash up to show that its working.....but it is
  15. Ok so the new update is ok but kind of PITA? You need to go to OPTIONS-USER INTERFACE-MANUFACTURER to access battery settings. then so far on all three of my mods it has wiped the battery charge and both escribe and mod are now showing the battery as 0%. you need to reset the WH total otherwise the battery will probably continue to charge?
  16. http://www.smyrepaircenter.com/contact-us.html
  17. hi just relaying my findings although the US SMY service centre (who still haven't replied to my ticket) SMY changed their warranty policy in March 2016 so if you purchased it before then you should have a 12month warranty. Who is to say that they are not prepeared to honour the prior agreement? My vendor has chosen not be retroactive in regards to this and SMY warranty service (China) have not replied The US service centre charges $40 for repairs within warranty, $50 outside of warranty or if they consider the seal to be broken. Kind of really throws dispersion on their whole warranty system.
  18. I'm another titanium TC fan, quite happy with pairs of 26g/32g claptons, fused parallels and single spaced 0.6mm in subtank RBAs. Haven't intentionally tried without TC but having mistaken contact coils in a dripper for nichrome its given a decent vape. More of a **** that warmed up quickly...Doh the resistance is rising.....
  19. looks like Cigabuy won't help first reply Thanks for your support and cooperation. Sorry your device is already out of warranty, so we can't ask compensation for you, hope you can understand. So if you want to repair it, you need coverthe fees by yourself, please send me a short video to clear show the question, and we can tell youwhich part you need to replace. second reply after pointing out the 12 month waranty it was advertised with the representative of Cigabuy Customer Service. I am honored to assist you furtherBecause e-Cigarette is Fast Moving Consumer Goods, so the warranty will not last 12 months, hopeyou can understand. Ok! If you have more question please contact me freely. I see no point in arguing with someone 6,000 miles away on , the joys of foreign vendors. No reply from Simeyue yet, I'm not sure but for some reason I don't really expect one. Ticket raised with Evolve
  20. great........ Ciga-bye-bye, SMY offered 12 month warranty but its not on this page Unless otherwise noted on the product page, product warranty is 6 months counted from the date of shipment. Within 3 months from shipment: Upon returning, defective items are replaced and shipped back to customers for free. Return shipping reimbursement is USD 20 or actual value of regular airmail, whichever is lower.Afterwards: Customers may still send defective items back to CigaBuy. CigaBuy passes those items back to their manufactures and helps coordinating the repair. Customers are responsible for shipping charges both ways. Depending on the problem, fees may be assessed by the manufacturers. CigaBuy will contact customers before committing the repairs.Looks like a quick mail to CB then chase up SMY, for what its worth I'd be prepared to gut the box and accept a new board.
  21. Cigabuy-SMY-Evolve it is then. not particularly fussed about the carbon scale, in regards to having a scuff or a working mod. I figured if I got 9 months out of it to start with I'd use it as a donor for a project. Was expecting either the battery or the wonky 510 to be the first to go. Second dead dna in 3 months
  22. the screen has just gone off, the display works when put it on the charger, shows 75% battery. I've had it for 9 months, so not so bad for a special offer mod.he but annoying all the same. I'll put it on escribe tomorrow but I'm asuming its the fuse? Cigabuy don't stock them anymore should I put in a warranty claim with evolve? probably easier to cut the battery leads and return the board?
  23. Try steam engine for profiles, if you don't get on with those you can enter the TCR rather than a whole curve. SS can be a difficult material to set up, very spiky either works well without preheat or with lots of preheat. Best to fine tune the power delivery so that it runs just under the temp limit. the various grades 304/316/316L ect vary from source to source, its a more complex alloy unlike GR1 titanium with a purity of 99.6? or Ni200 at 99.8 316 as chemically defined has a TCR of 880 but thats not to say 316 from source A is the same as 316 from source B. But they both meet the standards for 316 on composition.
  24. Have you set the mod resistance to zero and uploaded it to the device?
  25. thanks for the linky, I've been playing with twisted 30g x2 /32g wrap but haven't been able to get any 0.4/26g Ni200 for a single core, seems to have been out of stock at the suppliers I would prefer (at least in the smaller spools).
