1. It is a 10 W/H battery- Escribe suggested 9.99 W/Hs though so I went with that. That will be OK yeah? If I went ABOVE the W/h's I guess it would try and overcharge the battery would it? Or would my battery meter just be off? Thanks everyone, Conan.
2. Hi people. You may remember I had to RMA my hotcig DNA 200, that came with a bad battery as well. Well, today I finally got the hotcig in the post (It was 8 days, well within what Evolv said) I connected the new battery-and for the first time ever was welcomed with a DNA200 that turns on without a computers help! I am currently charging the mod, I am doing the first charge in Escribe, and have created 4 profiles for NI200, TI, SS, and Kanthal. I have changed the preheat from 200W to around 80W, with a punch of about 6, across them all (apart from kanthal, TC is obviously off for that). Now-I can safely charge my mod without Escribe cant I? I am only doing the first charge in Escribe as the battery was ever so slightly out of balance-not damaged, but cell 1 was .2V less than the others. Once I have it all set up, how I like it-can I just charge with a 1A , 5V usb wall adapter? As this will be much faster for me-double the speed than in escribe. I just want to make sure I wont damage my DNA 200 charging it this way. I was so impressed with Evolv-that I ordered a DNA200 Wismec Realaux, from the UK. I shopped around for the best price, but got it from a reputable store-it should be in stock the end of next week-so for now its just the hotcig I will mainly be using. So, I am safe to use the 1A, 5V wall USB charger yes? I want to say a huge thank you to Evolv, and also paypal. Gearbest and hotcig screwed me over, but paypal refunded me everything that I lost and no cost to gearbest-as gearbest would not even refund paypal, let alone me. So, could some people please let me know after this first charge on Escribe, can I use the wall adapter safely? Thank you all.
3. Ok that was my main worry-the charger. I didn't want to damage it-but I mainly wanted to set to how I like in Escribe, and charge from the mains really, and only use Escribe if I want to make changes, update the firmware or make a new custom screen .
4. Hi people. My DNA200 was last updated at O'Hare airport yesterday-so may well of flown already/flying tonight. Once it is in the UK it usually turns up the next day or two, so I may even have it back tomorrow if I am lucky-If not definitely beginning of next week. Now, I have a charging question. I want to set my device to how I like it, then leave it, unless I want to tweak it or update the firmware/create a new custom screen. I have a fused (UK, all plugs have fuses) 1Amp 5V wall USB charger. This would be preferable to use for me, I just wanted to check this is the right type of charger? I don't want to break my repaired DNA200-so just want to make sure this is OK. The first charge will be in Escribe to check the battery and upload settings, but future charges with the mentioned charger as long as it is correct. Thanks everyone, Conan.
5. Hi people. I am very impressed with evolvs service, and want another DNA 200. This time though-I want one that takes 18650's. I understand a dual 18650 is limited to 133W, but that is well enough for me-I am very unlikely to go over 80W if I am honest. I am thinking it will charge quicker in my D4 with dual batteries, but the wismec should have an insane battery life. What would you go for if it was you? I dont need the 200W, so do you think a dual setup would suit me? Thanks, Conan.
6. It shouldn't be too late-I think you get a good few months to make a claim-explain whats happened, and if it isn't working, phone them and explain properly. Wish you luck mate. Got to agree the only help was Nick and Evolv, and Adam from paypal. Honestly-gearbest wont refund you, and WILL ask you to drop the claim and they will pay you-whatever you do don't do that, as they will NOT pay you, as they did say they was issuing a refund, but would not. Paypal has refunded me-they couldn't get it from gearbest-so if even paypal can't get it from them, I don't think we stand any chance with them. On a lighter note, I got a goblin mini today and a nice curved glass drip tip-I understand the hype around it now, very flavoursome, and I am using it in single coil mode.
7. I just wanted to write a message showing my gratitude to Evolv. You will not believe the nightmare I had with a hotcig DNA200. My friend told me about it, £80, I thought 'wow, that is cheap', from somewhere called gearbest, I had used it before to buy high powered torches/flashlights, so though it would be ok- my first mistake was I forgot the discount code-and payed £100. Ok I thought-£100 for a fully working DNA200 isn't too bad. Then the lies started about shipping, the item is in stock, is not in stock, it is, and so on, until it finally shipped. It was sent via British Express, and from actual dispatch-it was here in just FOUR days. It was about a week and a half from order though with the lies. Straight away it would not turn on. Bad feelings arose. I got my multimeter out, and the battery was at just 3.71 volts. I used escribe to recover the battery-and it did, but I was still getting a constant error pop up every ten minutes or so-saying DNA 200-Warranty-Battery- so I got a turniguy Li-Po and made my own pack. It was a brand new turniguy nanotech, it was perfectly balance in Escribe, and charged to 12.6V. If I tried to fire-it come up with the error 'Ohms too high' when they were 100% not, and would fire at a max of 4.5 Watts. I had already ordered the hotcig battery-as gearbest lied to me 5 times about replacement, until finally admitting they never had any of the mods in stock, let alone a battery-and wouldn't know when they would. Would I mind waiting? I thought would I mind waiting took the absolute mick, so went to paypal and Evolv. Evolv kindly agreed to fix my chip-and paypal agreed to refund me the full amount if I sent the item back. Small problem-the item was in the USA, and I wanted to keep it, I just wanted refund for what it cost me to get a Defective item working. I phoned paypal and a nice man called Adam immediately said "this claim has been going on a long time, and I can see how many times you have tried to contact gearbest-we tried a 45 dollar refund from them, but they refused. You are not at fault, and as a goodwill gesture we would be delighted to give you 50 dollars" Sure enough-I checked my email, and paypal have said its in my favour, and due to the unique circumstances, they are paying me at no cost to the seller. I feel bad on paypal a bit as it should be gearbest paying-but I guess paypal know gearbest is dodgy now, as I know 2 other people (the only I know who ordered at this price and batch) who ordered at the same time as me, and our device numbers are extremely close, mine is 0539, so quite an early one, they all have the EXACT SAME problems that I have had with the device-my friend is screwing-he waited over a month for his as he got a cheaper shipping method, and he has to go through all what I went through as well. The only good in this was paypal and Evolv. Evolv got my device just yesterday-fixed it-and sent it back out, WITH a tracking number, on the same day! I really don't know how they are this fast-but I like Evolvs customer service. I've never experienced service like Evolvs in the UK. So-I have learnt my lesson. My next DNA200 will be after christmas, and highly likely to be the wismec model that nobody can spell lol-but I will buy it from the UK, I will try to find the best price, but understand I will spend a fair bit-but I would rather that than go through all of this-it will of been about 2 months when I get the device end of the week-mid next week from purchase to get it working. So, I am NEVER using gearbest again-I use fasttech but only for things like drip tips and accessories, and the occasional dripper (Not many TBH). But my friend are now going through the same lies gearbest told me-I have saved gearbests lie sheet conversation with me and sent it to them so they fully know what to do. They are both going straight to paypal, not even bothering with gearbest-one is keeping the device, the other is so ticked off he doesn't even want it any more and is going for the full refund. This upsets me a bit-as he will of not tried the DNA200 and seen how good it actually is when it works. TBH I miss it now, my other 10 regulated devices are like poor imitations, some come close, but are not the same, and obviously my mechs are fun, but thats all really-for fun. I don't use them as an ADV for example like I would the DNA200. So, I would like to thank the whole company of Evolv, a very kind man called Nick who was dealing with my ticket on here, and a kind man from Paypal called Adam. Something else happened yesterday that at first seemed bad, to do with my medication-but turned out really well in my favour. They say it comes in threes-and it did. Medication, Paypal, and finally Evolv's amazing service. I wish every company was like Evolv, is it the norm for companies in the USA to be this good? As I have got returns in the UK before, but never that fast, polite, and just amazing really-we could do with taking a page out of your book and using it here . Thank you to everyone I mentioned, I can't wait and you have literally made my month.
8. Hi there, I do have 9 other regulated devices and 3 mechs-so I could vape, it was just the DNA200 was in a different league. I will definitely be getting another from another company as it is a completely different vape. The closest I can get it my Sigelei 150TC, but that is still a poor imitation. It won't just be DNA200 devices either-I will try some of the lower wattage options, as most of my vaping is for flavour, not huge clouds and done under 50W. I am currently vaping a lemo V2 1.2 Ohm coil at around 17.5 watts.
9. Oh my god. I just got a reply to my ticket-It has ALREADY been repaired and posted out! Evolv has the most fantastic customer service I have ever met! It has made my month.
10. Oh this has made my day. I got something great this morning, I got the hotcig battery refunded by paypal today, and Evolv have my device! They say it comes in threes. I am so happy, it does seem evolv have it by the way it is worded, I've been told it takes a day or 2 for repair-then it will be sent back to me fast as well. Hoping that next week I have my DNA200 back, none of my other vapes come close. I think once you go DNA200, you can't go back
11. @dc601, thank you so much. You do not understand how much this has eased my tension. So Evolv do have it, or at least it is in the PO box ready for them . My mind is at rest now, do Evolv usually pick up items from their PO box daily? As I know once they have it, it will be repaired quickly. I can't thank you enough. EDIT: Looking at that image, it states available for pick up, and then finally delivered. Does this mean Evolv has my DNA200? If so, that is fantastic!
12. Ok some more information from royal mail, I clicked detailed information and it says this: UNDELIVEREDADDRESSEE HAS PO BOX. I have no idea what this means-if it is in the PO box or not. I think it may mean the adressee was not there but it was put in the PO BOX maybe?
13. Could anybody explain what happens now, I beg of you. It is all I can think of, and I know I wont sleep tonight if I don't know whats happening. I've even prayed, how silly is that, that it gets to Evolv today or tomorrow. Could it simply mean it is in the PO box, and if it is not collected from there it will be sent back to me? Or is it likely royal mail have taken it back with them? I think the former is more likely though, as I understand PO box now stands for POST office box, so its a box in the post office. I don't see how that could go wrong, so it must be that mustn't it?
14. Hi everyone. As you may know, I have a brain injury that has affected my thoughts and emotions, and my item was attempted to be delivered to Evolv today. Due to my injury, I am really panicking now. Here is what royal mail has to say: A delivery was attempted for your item with reference LB221195974GB in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA before 08:57 on 09/11/15. If the addressee does not collect it or make an arrangement to have it redelivered, it will be returned to the sender in the UK. What happens now? Will Evolv make arrangements to collect my DNA200, or will it just get returned to me . It's all I can think about now, I don't understand PO boxes or how they work, so what is likely to happen? Will Evolv arrange for the package to be collected? Like it was attempted to be delivered today, but something went wrong. If its not re arranged for delivery or collected, it gets flown back to me, and I lose my postage cost, and still have a broken device. I am worrying about nothing though aren't I? I am sure this is normal-Evolv must have a form that says delivery was attempted, and they will get it collected wont they? Otherwise I wont have a DNA200, and will be £110 down . Please could someone set my mind at rest, I am really worried and panicking about this. It is so close to Evolv, getting repaired and returned, yet this happened. Its like murphys law. Everything that could of gone wrong with this has lol. Could someone from Evolv or a forum member explain to me what will happen though? Thank you all, Conan.
15. I am likely also getting the same mod, I live in the UK and have found a good deal-but not till after christmas. I am waiting for the Hotcig to be repaired-it is currently in O'hare airport-in chicago according to royal mail. It was sent on monday, it states 5-7 days till destination, so the latest Evolv should get it is tuesday. Then its repair, airmail back-and DNA200 pleasure again .
16. Hi James. It turned out my unit was faulty-I have sent it in RMA today from the UK via airmail for repairs. In atomiser anylyzer the ohms weren't actually jumping around- just the mod was stating the error ohms too high. The fuse is blown, and god knows what else is wrong with it- Hotcig DNA200. But I am glad it is being repaired, as it will probably be the best hotcig about after Evolv have worked on it lol.
17. Hi Nick, I have posted the Item just now-international tracked- it will be with you in 5-7 days as it is VIA airmail. I had to put a label on the package of the contents, so I just put 'Electronic device-DNA200- No battery' on the label for customs. I can't wait, in around a fortnight or so I will have a fully working DNA 200! That will be like my christmas present, it makes me unbeleivabaly happy! Thank you so much Evolv and Nick!
18. Hi there. I had an injury to my brain last year and I am not as good as I used to be-no way would I be able to make my own unfortunately, I would just ruin a perfectly good board and parts
19. We will pay return shipping. We usually turn the repairs around the same day we get them, the next day at the latest. You will be waiting on the courier longer than you wait on us.
Oh wow. You guys are actually amazing-I am sending tomorrow via airmail from the UK-it states 3 days to europe, and 5-7 days to other countries. I am sending it tracked and insured, but not signed for as its a PO BOX and don't know if anyone will be there to sign for it. Thats cool that you pay return shipping too. I should have a fully working mod again in a few weeks then, Woop woop! I will have to go to the library to print off the RMA form, as I don't actually have a printer lol-but I have the envolope with your adress on-I just added the adress you sent me, with USA at the end, that is correct yes? If you guys really fix that quickly, I think I may actually have it back before I receive the replacement battery from fasttech! That would make me impressed. I will ship just the half with the chip in-as the battery is completely dissasembled as it was buggered anyway. Thanks for your help. I really though I was buggered-but then remembered Evolv. Gearbest didn't help, hotcig didn't help-but Evolv have. I would like to say thank you to Nick for answering my question about shipping and turn around time. I look forward to having a fully working DNA200 . Thank you so much.
20. I am sending via royal mail tracked and insured airmail-it states 5-7 days to arrive in destination. So a week to get to Evolv-then a wait for it to be sent back. Do I have to pay for return fees? Thanks people, Conan.
21. I correctly set up a battery-its showing in Escribe at fully charged, all cells at 4.2Volts, balanced fine. The mod will only turn on connected to Escribe. Even then it will only fire at 4.5W maximum-after that it states 'Ohms too high' when they are 100% not in atomizer analyser. So-is it the fuse and time to RMA, or is it worth waiting? I can't send it right now anyway as I am broke for a few weeks due to christmas, I live in the UK and will have to ship to the USA. My family is helping me get another DNA200 next saturday ordered from the UK, so after RMA, which evolv have agreed to repair-I will have two DNA200 mods. Thing is, I am holding out hope it ISN'T the fuse, as surely it would not fire at al would it if it was the fuse, even though it is a minimum 4.5W. Any idea why it is displaying Ohms too high when they are not-and only turning on connected to Escribe? Or is that a definite indication of the fuse? Either way, I will have to send it off in around 3 weeks for RMA if it is the fuse or another issue.
22. Hi everyone. I have contacted Evolv, and they have been extremely kind, and offered repair. I have obviously had the mod opened just to test the fuse-but that is just for the warranty with Hotcig yes? Not the Evolv warranty? As they sell the chips seperately don't they with a 1 year warranty, I guess this is the warranty they are using. I need to ship from the UK to the USA, but as I am just shipping the half of the mod with the board in, it can be a small package, so should not cost too much to send. Does anyone know the turnaround time for Evolv's repair service, and how long to expect it to take? I have said it appears to be the fuse but have another battery on the way-plus I have zero money due to christmas right now, so it wont be sent for a few weeks-but that does not matter does it due to it being a 1 year warranty, and my battery should be here in about 2 weeks most now, for one final check to make sure it isnt the fuse-but all indications point to it being that. I am very happy that Evolv have agreed to this and to help me. I must say Evolv are a company I know I can trust.
23. I tried again today-cleaned all the contacts correctly, used the correct flux, and got it connected. In escribe it is charging normally, cells are balanced, but it wont fire over 4.5 watts, above that it states 'Ohms too high' when they are most definitely not-I used atomozer anylyzer and it was at around 0.09 for NI200, and 0.155 for dual coil Titanium. If the fuse was blown-would it even fire, even at such low watttage? I am hoping when the real battery arrives in a few weeks, it will work, but I have doubts it will. If I try to charge not using escribe, using a standard USB wall charger it just stays on warranty issue and does nothing. Next saturday I am ordering the Hcigar VT200 from the UK. It is the only DNA200 device I can afford and I wont be happy untill I have a working device. If a week later the battery turns up for the hotcig, and it works, that a bonus, two DNA200 devices. If it doesn't, I know never to use gearbest again or buy a hotcig product, as their customer service is lacking extremely, it took 3 emails for a reply, and hotcig gave me basic information which I already understood. He asked for the model number and then would start the warranty process, so I obliged-4 days later and 2 more messages, no contact. I think Evolv really need to get onto these Chinese manufacturers who are causing problems, such as hotcig. My friend in the US is having the exact same issues as me-mine is model 0539, his is also the pre facelift version-I wonder if there was more than just a change of buttons as the early batch had so many issues? Gearbest have removed it from their site and no longer stock it due to the issues. What would cause my mod to display 'Ohms too high' when they are not, not allowing me to fire above 4.5W? If it was the fuse, it would not fire at all would it? It only powers on in escribe. I was tempted to bridge the fuse but knew not too-if the fuse did blow, it blew for a reason, and I would be putting myself in danger, so I am not doing that. Anyone that can answer the ohms too high question would be a legend, and as it is still firing up to 4.5W, it can not be the fuse can it? It must be the battery. It only turns on when connected to escribe. I have just been messed about so much by gearbest and the company, I just want another device even if it means paying as much as I can afford to get a device. A different mod is out of my price range-it will have to be the Hcigar Vt200. My US friend has two, one still boxed as he got them at a steal, and after correctly doing battery anylyzer his battery was indeed 1300MAH, worked out by the W/h's.
24. Powering only while plugged in to a power source is either a fuse or battery issue. While in escribe, what to you see for cell voltages?
This makes me really hope it is a battery issue-my Hotcig DNA200 is only workiing in escribe, and will only fire up to 4.5W, so I am thinking the solder job I did is what is causing the problems-as before this, it had battery errors, but was working. I hope the replacement battery solves my issues, as Hotcig are not helping and gearbest is even worse. Thing is, the battery is showing fine in escribe-perfectly balanced and fully charged. Thing is, the solder would not adhere to the lugs from the battery casing and was extremely hard to get it to adhere-so I think it may be the wrong type of solder for the brass pins. Seeing as it failed completely when I unsoldered the battery to try another-it is most likely to be the battery isn't it? As I have done nothing to make the fuse go wrong, and on inspection it appears to be OK.
25. That is what is happening-but it will vape on USB with my home made job-Albeit only at 4.5W maximum-which leads me to think it is the battery/my solder skills. Surely it would not fire at all with a blown fuse? I am going to order the Hcigar vt200 next saturday from the UK, as the shop covers warranty issues and I just feel better doing that. But-it DOES only power on on USB. I have contacted Evolv to tell them the issues I have been having and suspect it to be the fuse-I have also added that I have a new battery on the way as well, so it is quite important to me to get it working. I have gave a very in depth explanation to them-as hotcig is not replying to me, and gearbest is just lying, I doubt I will even get the refund until paypal sort it-I have raised a claim, it's been 4 days I think and gearbest have not contacted paypal-surely if they don't contact them in the 10 days it goes in my favour? Hopefully, the new battery just sorts things, but if it only powers on with USB with a blown fuse-that is exactly what is happening.
