1. Yeap Rob does a great job. Good prices, really good service, very responsive and helpful. Cant recommend them enough.
2. Much easier to solder with the solder points on this board. However it's a shame they still don't release boards with screens mounted on them. AFAIK most failures come from damaged ribbons from the screens
3. Just an update from my part. I submitted a ticket and they say they will be releasing new Escribe and theme manager to very soon so we can start playing with it. Will be nice to play around with different themes to cater for yourself.
4. Nice thank's for the info. I was unaware that there is no admin in the forums that's employed by Evolv.
5. I've got mine shipped already from a retailer in the UK; that was fast! It would be nice if we could get come CAD files up ...
6. I know it hasn't been released yet but it would be nice if we could get IGES files for the board
7. So I've put the DNA60 in a 3D printed case that I made myself. It's the first iteration so I'm going to make improvements to it. It hasn't been polished yet and the front panel is taped because I haven't had time to place the magnets. Otherwise it works perfectly, it's very light and small.
8. Waiting 5 minutes for refinement to kick in is obviously not an issue. But the DNA has onboard memory for the profiles right? It should be able to keep value of the atomizer right?
9. Thank's for the quick reply. Yes that is what I assumed it was doing but I thought it was just a bug in the DNA60 firmware; apparently it is not. This sucks since there is no way for you to actually power down the DNA device so that it doesn't lose the cold reading on the atomizer.
10. I'm getting some strange behaviour which I assume is a bug? I lock my DNA60 and then remove the battery but not the atomizer, which is warm. When I put in a new battery and fire it and instead of keeping the old initial resistance, it changes it to the resistance of the atomizer just before I removed the battery. Does anyone else have this happen to them? If yes, anyone care to try with a DNA75?
11. That's what I'm wondering, since Evolv is selling the DNA60 in a reference case but no further details or photos.
12. Yes I have a 3D printed DNA200 with a Fulymax in there. Very light but it's definitely not tiny, especially if I'm going to put a DNA60 and a 18650 in there
13. Finally they're doing that! However, are they putting the DNA60 in the same case as the DNA200? In that case, it would be worth it just making a smaller one on your own.
14. Really like the case. Where did you get it printed?
15. Thank you very much. This is very interesting. Plenty of empty space in there to make the mod even narrower. Can't wait for the board to be released so I can slap this in a 3D printed case.
16. That looks quite smaller than the VTC mini from this angle. Would you mind posting more photos?
17. When will the reference cases be back in stock?
18. Yes and of course I can understand this but from my experience you fall in the minority of cases, most people want to reach the desired vapour production and temperature asap.
19. Temperature protection prevents burnt hits and unsafe temperatures. When you are not vaping, or looking at the screen, yes, this does bring the power level low. (Or if the atomizer design in question is incapable of decent vapor production (wattage) without getting you into unsafe temperatures.) A legitimate use I _have_ seen for hanging out at the temperature limit is targeting particular flavor components that are brought out at specific temperatures. The purpose of preheat is to quickly bring the coil up above the boiling point. Once boiling, the thermodynamics change. In this region, wattage is _the_ determining factor for maximum vapor production.
I think of it as Temperature control and not protection. Temperature dictates your vapour production as well as the changes in flavour. With a suitable preheat you reach your desired temperature in less than 1s and after that the main Wattage helps you maintain that temperature. If the chip works as it should it doesn't matter if you set your main wattage at 40W or 150W, as it will be regulated accordingly to keep you at your desired Temperature. You can show this pretty clearly from Escribe.
20. I don't understand people who adjust wattage. Do you realise how TC works, particularly on the DNA200? You can't change the preheat on the device. I'm assuming most people have a higher preheat value than their standard value. Once your device reaches set temperature, the required wattage drops quite low. So for the majority of use cases out there, you can keep changing those Watts all you want, the resulting vape should be exactly the same, the rest is just a placebo effect.
21. Many of us have praised Evolv for all their good work they've done on the DNA200. But you have to admit that they have very slow in replying to a feature that has been requested so often and by so many users.
22. There has been several version of escribe and lots of beta firmware on this forum. Failing to address this issue, in your opinion, negates the responsiveness of the firm entirely? This is a significant change and will probably be rolled out, but right now I know that Evolv is working on a research project, digesting the draft FDA rules and analyzing the first corpus of significant data from the first round of chip replacements. This request has to be important, but admittedly of low priority at the moment.
Agreed but it would have been nice if they had even responded to the request; afaik there hasn't been an official reply from them. It also doesn't take long to change something like this. If i's only a matter of time I guess they're quite low on resources.
23. This is probably the number one request I have right now. I don't understand how this isn't obvious when you design the onboard software. I guess it's because people are stuck in the past.
24. Could you please post a few other photos from other angles?
25. Escribe is very feature-rich. If they begin adding its features to the onboard menu then it's a slippery slope, where would you stop? You said it yourself, get a better thank
