Escribe for Chromebook

Recommended Posts

Chromebooks have been out for over a decade now or almost as long as Evolv has been a company yet there is no Escribe for Chromebook which is truly disappointing. Newer Chrombooks like the one I have is Linux capable but most vapors don't know a thing about Linux and learning enough to successfully install Escribe on a Chromebook and use it isn't feasible for most vapors with DNA mods. Escribe as an Android App would certainly work for Chromebook as well as the much larger Android market but Google will not allow it in the Play Store according to Evolv customer service. That shouldn't deter creation of a sideloadable app that can be downloaded from this site. Since it doesn't seem like Evolv will develop Escribe for Chromebook, a sideloadable Android App, or a Linux version for tech illiterates; I guess the only hope is some developers reading this will create a solution. A Chromebook specific one is the least likely due to small market share. A sideloadable Android app would reach the most users but is probably more time consuming than creating a Chromebook Linux version for dummies not much more difficult than installing commercial software on Microsoft Windows or Apple Macbooks so I am guessing that would be the most likely if any were to happen.

Someone please develop something tech illiterates with Chromebook can use. I know this has probably been disxussed in numerous threads over

e past decade and is futile but I am desperate. Hopefully someone(s) can come up with that solution.

There are very few things you need escribe for with these color chipsets/boards. There are some full featured themes that have just about all the options, mind you they are 20+ screens.

You really only need any special 'material' files like NiFeXX or other TC capable that are not already on your mod. And the latest software update. Some have friends that will allow them to use their PC/Mac, or even a library.

As far as a sideloadable app, WE might allow a link but doubt we'd allow the app itself. We'd need to have Evolv's blessing.

Good luck in your quest. 👋

I have both a 250C and a 250.

The reason I need Escribe right now is due to problems with the latter. It is a 2/3 battery mod that needs Escribe to switch from 2 to 3 battery mode or vice versa. I need it so I can try to unlock it and get it out of stealth mode. It probably won't work and will either need to be sent in for repair or discarded. I need Escribe to verify I succeeded in getting it out of both modes and still won't go back into watts mode no matter how many times I select it.

There will always be a need for Escribe even if there are fewer with the 250C. I just with there was a version that would work with Chromebook.

A link to a sideloadable app would be great even if Evolv doesn't bless allowing the app itself. It is just a matter of someone developing an app. In other words, the hard part. A one click Chromebook Linux installing or at least a far simpler to install Chromebook Linux version seems far easier to do since a Linux version already exists albeit not specifically for Chrome and nearly impossible for tech illerates to install.

Luckily for you, you don't need escribe to get it out of stealth mode. Here's the link for a downloadble pdf with all the non color key combos. Once you're out of stealth, you can check it all. Escribe not required.

I can only think of 1 DNA250 that allowed 2/3 batteries, so yeah, you're stuck with what you've been using unless you have a friend or library nearby.
