Is is possible to charge my device at a higher current than 0.5A? I know that USB 3.0 supports 1A charging but I don't know how to enable it, or even if I can. Any advice?

At least yours is consistent.  Mine chooses whatever it likes when I plug it in, sometimes it's .5A and other times it'll go the full 1A.  It's a macbook, so I figured the easy answer would be if it was plugged into power vs. battery power - this unfortunately was not the answer.

If I'm understanding John in the thread linked below, if the device sees data lines it will limit the charge current.  That is also what I've observed, less than 500 mA when connected to a USB 3.0 port, up to 1A when connected to a wall wart.

Alright, another random question out of curiosity, is it OK to leave the battery charging overnight. Does the board cut off power to the battery when all cells are at 4.2 volts?

The USB spec defaults to 500ma while data is connected if there's no other instructions. The driver of any USB device needs to tell the circuit to put out more power (1a).

Yes. I've been doing it for the past week or so.
