Hello everyone,

I just received my Evolv DNA 200 on Thursday and straight out of the box I run into an issue of ''check battery'' error. As someone suggested on this forum I downloaded escribe, updated software and did a recovery charge. That worked fine. However after a day of use and battery running flat I noticed that I cannot charge it via anything else other than USB connected to my laptop with escribe running. When I connect it to mains, it seems that it charges only when the screen is on (the screen shows it's charging however I left it for 3 hours plugged in with no luck).

I am a DNA newbie and this is my first 'proper' mod (was using iStick 30W and 40W TC previously) so I am quite overwhelmed with all the functions of escribe software. I wanted to find out if I need to return it or is there something that can be done? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

If you like you could take out the battery and get it tested on a RC charger

this charger can tell you if the battery is malfunc.

then again i know the mod is new, its your call

I suspect you are being "fooled", as was I.  Check the screen tab in eScribe with the DNA connected.  You'll see a selection for screen brightness when charging.  The default setting is 0%, black screen.  Set it to, say, 50%, and give it a shot.  You'll see your DNA charging from the wall wart.

As Awsun140 said, also if you put USB current in one one the optional fields for the charging screen it enables you to select a charger & cable combination that supplies 1 A (probably 997/998 mA) as many don't.

This worked, thank you! Maybe the mod would go into sleep mode or turn off after the screen is off making it not wanting to charge or something.
