How much memory would this code require? I can't seem to find the post where this is confirmed; only the opposite. Apologies, if this is well-known, I'm rather new to this forum and the DNA 200.   2. I've been struggling with TC with several attys, and EScribe's Atomizer Analyzer has been very helpful in determining which attys I can give up on. Or, at least determining if there's a sweet spot. Having this feature build-in, on the chip / mod, itself, via a custom troubleshooting display where it shows the Raw Ohms in live, 1 second updates, would be awesome! It would allow us to troubleshoot without a computer and usb cable, even on-the-go (perhaps even at a brick-and-mortar when choosing an atomizer). And it would just be cool to look at. I could see myself leaving it on and monitoring it. Thanks for listening.
  3. Thanks for the reply, Gm. Let me apologize in advance for my incredulity, but can you point me to the post that explains this? I tried searching the forums, but didn't see it mentioned. Or, is it just a hunch you have? Because from what I've gathered, from this post where Administrator talks about what's possible for future updates, it's mentioned that, "...we have a fair amount of code space and ram left." /topic/68347-topic/?do=findComment&comment=914618 The textual information comprising the fields, required for a profile, is really, really tiny. Even by small, custom chip standards. So, I'd be stunned if a modest amount, like 8 more, isn't possible.
  4. I'd say doubling the profiles to 16 would be my sweet-spot (for being round-robin-friendly). User configurable would be ideal. We have so many wire types, different profiles to experiment with for a given wire type, atomizers, pre-heat punch settings, etc.; 8 ain't enough.

  6. I suspect so, but haven't seen any science to back up the notion. I know that our taste receptors do pick up on iron flavor. Some people like the taste of iron in well water. It can give it a "sweet" taste. I have a hunch that may be why people like the "taste" of Kanthal. What I don't understand is how wire that is not supposed to be leaching, decomposing or otherwise vaporizing can impart taste. The only studies I've seen mentioned seemed to imply the amount of material given off is nearly nonexistent. Kanthal is the only wire I seem to detect any taste. Nickel is tasteless to me.
  7. Thanks, Jaquith. In the SS family, it seems 304 may have a slightly better chance at success. I'll likely pick up a spool. Ni200 is working so well for me, using other wire is more a scientific curiosity. When I go back to Kanthal A1, I can taste that iron. It's not an unpleasant taste, but Ni200 is nearly tasteless once broken in (a slight fishy odor if dry burned and new).
  8. Related question for the group... Steam Engine's 316 and 316L look almost identical, except for a tiny change in the 2nd decimal place of that last breakpoint on the curve. Will it matter? I have both 316 and 316L wire coming soon and have maxed out my profiles. If possible, I'd like to only have one profile for 316 and 316L. Thoughts? (I'll share my results once the wire gets here.) We really need 16 profiles (or user configurable)! Also, great feature suggestion on the percent-based preheat, Jaquith.
