You might go to "Downloads" in this forum and download a theme for your device to your desktop.....  Open Theme Designer without a device connected.  Open the theme you downloaded and see if that theme gives you the same issue... if not then the issue is with the theme...

I looked at the original theme installed, authored by DJLSBvapes, the reviewer who creates DNA files for a few Mod companies, as well the stock theme supplied by Evolv. And if I click around on the 2nd, "main screen", I can SEE the same results. Seems some elements you can edit have more settings and thus can drop down below a readable area on the bottom of the interface. Some of these windows should be dynamic, so when the info is too long, you get the scroll bar.

So I'm going to stick with my original BUG report on SP12 on MacOS. Thanks for the logical suggestion though!

I think if the text is in there it will display in the status field, it just will not take up the whole screen, again not tested just an educated guess.  Showing the info message or not does not affect how temp limiting works and not a safety feature like temp limiting is IMO, these are really general 75C issues and not specific to EScribe for Mac.

I’m not sure about the text being needed in any of those fields to show up in any “display field”, since the theme I’m editing now let’s me show what I choose to show up in a field.  But since I’m just getting into themes, I don’t know. But it’s inclusion in the only two fields in that default Evolv theme might be telling of something?

As far as to whether this is only a DNA75c issue or Escribe issue, I would be happy to post it in a more appropriate forum thread. To be honest, I don’t see many new posts overall here in all but a few, “my mod won’t fire” threads.  Google mostly points me back here when I search on a DNA issue, and many of the results are still from 2017.  For example, I just created a new post on how to disable device charging while connected to a laptop. It used to be possible, but I can’t find any info online, or here regarding this.

I love my various DNA mods and boards, and consider them the #1 board. But the limitations of a relatively small company like Evolv in the underdocumation of the devices and now more importantly the software to get the most out of them has been glaring since I’ve been a customer. Relying on mostly volunteers to answer feedback questions is telling over time. Please, just hire someone to monitor this site and create updated online manuals, can it be that expensive? For my part I just posted a bug report with screenshots of an issue with a few of the Escribe MAC screens, hopefully I’ll get an acknowledgement.

  3. I’m using Escribe 2.0 SP12 on MAC.

If I recall correctly, in older versions, there was a way to turn off a setting to disable charging when you connect the device via USB to a laptop computer, NOT connected to AC power. When working with a device connected to my laptop, I don’t want it to be constantly draining my OLD laptop battery. I charge my vape batteries in a charger. Thanks!

  4. MACOS 10.9.5. ESCRIBE 2.0 SP12

Here is a screen shot from THEME editor. Noticed this in a few other screens here, NOT just the bottom, but on right side as well where you make choices based on selected window elements. Obviously, if there are "choices" OFF SCREEN, that is not good, and one cannot tell what other choices might be hidden. In screen shot, look at bottom right, near little "hand cursor icon", caught in screen shot. THANKS!

Forgot to add, the window in the screenshot was FULL SCREEN on my MacBookPro laptop, using the little "green" DOT, that makes programs and windows, full screen, so NO, there are NO scrolling bars to get to the cut off content.

I spoke from memory and think I am correct, though as my footer says I could have been wrong.

I strongly disagree with calling it a safety message, it was mealy an info message than most users didn't like and has absolutely zero impact on safety.  Every user is free to choose a theme from the gallery and ask the them creator to add the feature if it is missing, but I doubt anybody will.  I have not tested that setting and it is just an educated guess that is what it does.  If I get time this weekend I try and have a look and I report back.

Well, knowing the device did it's job in limiting my selected temperature, was a SAFETY feature in my opinion, in not over heating my juice to the point of releasing the potentially bad toxins. Now it seems more like blind faith in having immediate feedback on the device, sure one can take the time to review puffs, hook up to Escribe etc., but thats not the point. I think Evolv owes an explanation in removing a "message" that they obviously felt was important not long a go. And just to add to my confusion, if you look at the latest stock version of the generic stock DNA75c theme installed on the boards, look at the "THEME", and then select language. There are ONLY two fields with any text in them, one is "Temp Protect", not sure how this language screen interplays with the themes, I assume if it were important, more of the many fields would be filled in?

I'm not trying to be adversarial, but a quick message from Brandon or Evolv could put this to rest, assuming they see this message?

I'll add a screen shot of the "language" tab. Thanks for your interest in the topic, don't see anyone else even curious so far about this.

It handles these messages differently, there is no on/off for that, I don't think it is shown and if it is it would use the status field if that is in your theme .  You could add a field that was hidden by default and only displays when Atomizer - Temp Protect = True.

If what you are suggesting is true, and the only way to bring back the “Temp Protect” message, I doubt many would take the time and effort to revive a setting that was in previous Escribe versions as a simple ON/OFF setting.

Previously, it was a global “message”, and early on, you didn’t even have the choice to turn it OFF!I guess I’m just going to accept this latest development, and move on from seeing “Temp Protect” messages anymore, though I’m sure many may rejoice, and I’m sure Evolv is glad to not have to deal with the newbie confusion it has caused in the past.

I hope and assume all the other, previous SAFETY messages are still hard coded in the firmware. Sure would be nice to hear from Brandon and Evolv on a topic like this that I find a major departure from the previous way the DNA’s worked.

  7. MAC OS 10.9, EScribe Suite 2.0 SP12, new Lost Vape Mirage DNA75C.

Just want to confirm, it seems the newer versions of Escribe, NO longer have a menu option to ON/OFF the “Temp Protect” message. I know from the older threads on this subject I participated in, that this message caused some confusion, but I liked it, a visual way to see I was hitting my desired temp limit. In the theme editor, I saw in the long lists of command choices, one for “Temp Protect”. I’m just learning theme editor, and since there is no manual, does this mean I would have to create a place for this message somewhere on the main screen? So far I see no other way to bring that old message behavior back.

If anyone that’s enabled this message can briefly explain the best way to do this. THANKS!

    Running 10.9.5 OS X

    DNA 60, DNA200 and DNA250 working

    Service pack applied to DNA200 1.2 SP5

Thank you for all your efforts

Seems to be working on 10.9.5 here as well, have to put it through the paces. NICE job, Apple has moved well past this OS version, very HAPPY you were able to make Escribe work on this older OS!

Support for other devices not changed! So Still 200 and 75 missing!

Guess I missed it, but now see Escribe for Mac working with DNA75's! With so many waiting for Mac support for these devices, I'm surprised there was not a major announcement. Spread the word, HOORAY!!!

I'm just starting to play, seems like the mac version can open my Windows saved versions, only tried this once as I have to copy over all my windows saved files. Anyone else try doing this, do the windows saved files transfer accurately?

@peraspera, @Lowbytes: I've updated the link with a version that supports OS X El Capitan. Let me know how it works for you :)

@ndb: EScribe caches data the first time it downloads it to speed up future downloads. (Though, I should probably include a pre-filled cache with the download.) So, the first time it is fairly slow. COB is 0.63? It should be 0.063.

Unfortunately, my computer is stuck on Mavericks 10.9.5, and I don't have a DNA Color yet, waiting for more companies to start using the new chip in their mods. I just downloaded and installed the latest version, and the apps did LOAD, hopefully they will actually work for me when I get a "C" DNA. Thanks.

Well, I thought I had tried everything but using the preheat instead of no preheat at all may have solved the issue I had with roasting the cotton in the middle.  I've been using one of the same twisted 24g build for a few days now and no sign of any char on the cotton.  Kinda sucks since I like the heat to come on slow but if it works I guess I cant complain.  After using the premade coil heads for some time its nice to come back to the world of superior flavor lol.

On topic. The 316L I had was so springy that it was nearly impossible to make even dual coils out of.  The Ti was not springy whatsoever and stayed in perfect coil shape, its incredibly easy to work with. I just received the clapton 316L I ordered today and had none of the troubles I had previously with steel, i'm pretty happy with both now.

I agree that Ti does have a different taste to it, however in my opinion its not a negative.  I think it brings out the flavor in some juice better.  If it doesn't work with your favorite flavors best to just avoid it.  As for burning coils to clean them, I really never had good experiences with that. It always made my flavor a little more muted every time. Even back when I was building with Kanthal I would rather just make a new coil than try to clean them.

Anyway, Thanks KISS V. for resurrecting this thread, It gave me a little motivation to try again and so far it looks like it worked :D I like your American Psycho pic btw.

Try Temco SS, it's annealed (soft) https://www.temcoindustrial.com/stainless-steel-wire-316l-non-resistance.html

Giving up on Ti, yup.  Been there, done that.  I recommend SS 316L.  It is as easy or easier than kanthal and grants all the benefits of TC.  I can taste titanium.  It's springy and annoying, even twisted.  And I can't burn it and clean it properly.  So... it's annoying to work with, I can't clapton it, and I can't clean it...

I immediately stopped wasting my time with it.

SS is certainly easier, and if you can taste the brand titanium you have tried, good reason to avoid it. But, there are versions of G1 titanium that are not hardened, and just as easy to work with as Kanthal. And with a proper TCR custom setting, it can be dry burned. So while I don't recommend it for beginners, or lazy folks, the debate is really, is it a better wire to use "health wise"? Many are allergic to nickel, and the jury is out on SS, though I use it as well. Titanium wire for vaping is something you'll have to research on your own, but from my own research I believe it may be the best so far, in regards to having the least toxicity to the human body, when used properly. For most, at least for now, the recommendation to use SS, is a good one. When not using a lazy pre-made SS notch coil, I still prefer using titanium over all the other options, then again, I've read and learned a lot about it over the years, and use it properly. Have fun!
  13. Folks can vape on guitar wire if they like it. Not my concern. KISS V. said it best: "SSV Titanium is not a off the shelf general graded titanium, not going into the fact that once it is drawn it would need to be regraded. It is a alloy that was developed specifically for vaping." It's an ALLOY! The titanium I prefer to buy is G1, NOT an alloy. So if you like it, price aside, then enjoy it, just don't confuse the actual differences. And I also agree with KISS V., people can post all kinds of credentials, but without proper investigation, we are forced to place our faith or not, and that's one of the reasons there is so much misinformation all over the place. I' have read all the posts on ECF concerning titanium wire, and I have made the choice to trust what I've read there, and personally choose my G1 titanium from sources like Unkamen, but more recently Temco, sources I trust. The TCR of their titanium matches my DNA mods perfectly, without the need to download any custom SSV TCR profiles, which are needed as it's an alloy. For those sensitive to other "metals" in their vapor path, you'll have to figure out if any of the alloys could be an issue for you. Seems some may have a horse in the race here?

This particular behavior is mostly an artifact -- on-screen Ohms is Cold Ohms for temperature-sensing coils and Live Ohms for non-temperature-sensing coils. In Device Monitor / EScribe fields on-screen Ohms are labeled Cold Ohms. The underlying query is R=GET. So, for non-temperature-sensing coils, you are always seeing Live Ohms.

As for 0.29 vs. 0.26, does this occur when you have preheat off as well, and if you fire at only a watt or two?

I believe preheat is off, and SS in power mode at 1-2 watts does show the 26 ohms, properly. Not sure what that means, but it is as you say.
