1. Did seem odd no mounting scheme was evident in drawings or 3d files that I saw.
2. Awsome. The long awaited small format Escribe compatible DNA board becomes a reality! Yeah!
3. Lots of people would like to see that as well. You would think now that the cat is out of the bag specs and pics would be released to stop all the rumors from floating around.
4. Judging by the mod pic of the flyer they took at TPE it looked like the board was same height, but possibly more narrow with the up/down buttons no longer side by side but one above the other between the screen and the usb.
5. Yes it would, however the fact that it is 75w would imply that a 2S is unlikely. If you need 2s they already have the DNA200 that will service that need. Perhaps I'm wrong but, I would think if they intended this board to work in 2S mode it would have had 133w or 150w on that screen pic that was leaked. It really would make a lot of sense to design the board for dual use in a 1S/2S configuration at 75w/133w from a versatility standpoint though. Evolv has certainly proven in the past that they do take these types of things into consideration in their designs so I'm not discounting that they did. It would be the right way to go for sure. It would make a lot of sense to design the board in that manner though from a versatility standpoint and Evolv certainly has proven in the past that they do take these types of operating parameters into consideration in their designs. It would make a lot of sense to design the board in that manner though from a versatility standpoint and Evolv certainly has proven in the past that they do take these types of operating parameters into consideration in their designs. Evolv will offer just the Board. Some sites in UK are already listing them as coming soon with pricing posted. It would make a lot of sense to design the board in that manner though from a versatility standpoint and Evolv certainly has proven in the past that they do take these types of operating parameters into consideration in their designs.
6. That was a Tobacco Exhibition TPE in Las Vegas and they weren't selling them AFIK, but promoting them with flyers as a coming soon product with samples for inspection & in a display case at their booth as I understand it.
7. No, They really can't due to NDAs
8. Doesn't look too bad. Have you tried putting it in a wood vise and persuading it back into shape?
9. When you guys are swapping DNA200 into the RX200 what are you doing for Reverse Battery Protection as the RX200 sled did not incorporate the Jaybo RBP raised battery rings on the positive terminals?
10. Wondering if that ideal solution has been found for 3s series 18650 reverse battery protection. Wismec Rx200s will be failing in ever greater numbers due to various issues and their owners will be seeking to convert them to DNA200 when Wismec/Joyetech support lets them down on warranty repairs due to purchase from unapproved vendors. Might not be a bad idea to have a guide set up for them to include proper protection into the battery sled when they do since the RX200 sled did not incorporate the raised protection rings that the DNA200 sled did. Here is one recent example. Any help toward this goal would be appreciated by those soon to be affected.
11. they were the links in Mundy's post then? Thanks for your help.
12. Appreciate the reply. So if I understand this correctly, it is easier to solder the display on, less time consuming (as I don't have to waste my time trying to divine where to get this connector its part number or if I even have the right one) and cheaper (because I don't have to buy it in the first place). Seems like it is just unnecessary unless you want the ability to swap displays easily. Hoping I wouldn't have to do that too often Any advice on methods of or techniques for successfully tinning the traces & soldering it together? Did you buy your cables without stiffeners & insulation at the ends or did you strip them manually? Where did you pick up your cables? Links?
13. So if I understand this correctly you were able to solder a screen to a .05mm pitch cable and extend the display on a DNA200 but by soldering directly to the contacts you need to have a reverse or opposite side contact cable to make it work with the zif connector on the board. Can you confirm this assumption on my part. I believe I found a correct cable on digikey http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?KeyWords=150200084 to accomplish this for $5.83ea w/ about $4.00 shipping. While I have no idea of the quality but these are available on ebay much more economically: http://www.ebay.com/itm/25pcs-Reverse-Direction-8-Pin-0-5mm-Pitch-FPC-Flexible-Ribbon-Cable-Wire-0-66ft-/161775574752?hash=item25aa935ee0 . I've asked the seller for more information and pics of the cable ends but have not heard back yet. Do you have any more input for those of us looking to follow in your footsteps? What cable did you use (link) and what was your procedure for soldering that joint? Did you just flux the hell out of it and drag your iron down the ribbon contacts to tin them on both the extension and the display then line them up & heat up the display side using a wide tipped iron & a lot of pressure just like you were soldering a new display to the older small screen dna40?
14. So it sounds like yours may be centered around a failed cell or bad connection in your 3s lipo. Hopefully your board may be salvageable! Realizing now that my Hana Modz V200 that wont do any firmware updates for quite a while now (DNA200 Board SN#DTKTBYZTMPNS Mod Configured: Monday July 27, 2015@4:19pm Board Programmed: Tuesday, June 30, 2015@4:56pm) has battery power & Battery charging with no issues, however when I finally took apart the JST RCY connector at the lipo, following your advice, the board completely shut down, but would not light up at all with the usb cable alone hooked to Escribe. Communications with the Hana USB cable have gotten steadily worse, but it communicates just fine with a few other usb cables I have at the house. None of these usb cables will light the board display of the Hana V200 at all with the JST RCY connector disconnected and I'm convinced that this is the cause of the firmware update failures I have been experiencing for quite a while now.
15. All my computers have been set up to run VLC on a HDTV as a second monitor, however neither was connected when problem occurred. As I said the firmware up load shuts down mod and no communication occurs. When I close the error box and press fire button, the mod lights up and Evolve will display the connect box restoring communication. Not sure reboot was proper term to make you understand what I am saying but it was the term I used, probably in error. Sorry for my stupidity. It will then download settings and allow Device Monitor to be started. My problem is not with the window not sizing properly in the 8/7 update. t is with the firmware updates not uploading to the mod as described in the early firmware section.
16. Well I'm up to 10 cables I have here in house w/ same issue. It would be really cool diagnostic tool if the Dna200 had a loopback feature so a USB cable's integrity could be tested from within escribe to rule out a bad cable. That error box goes away when the fire button on the mod is pressed and screen display lights up again.
17. Forgot to post 1st error message screen experienced after Hana screen goes dark on firmware update. this happens on any firmware update (no matter the firmware version date) attempt on 2 separate computers with 2 separate versions, 2 separate operating systems, clean installs, stable version vs 8/7 version. I'm at a loss. I had previously sent service tickets to hana about how the plan to swap out the substandard jst rcy connectors on 2 occasions and they have not seen fit to reply. Their customer service is horrible & I think Evolv should threaten to stop selling to them if they don't get their act together.
18. How do you know pressing the fire button reboots the device specifically? What behavior are you seeing? Does something display on the device screen? If you see anything on screen, that rules out it being a firmware issue. If Device Monitor works then your firmware is working. What are you seeing for battery voltage? I wonder if something is wrong with your battery connector. When you use Device Monitor, are you able to fire? Or does it say CHECK ATOMIZER? (What are the battery voltages reading? Keep in mind, battery voltage is read over the balancer taps, whereas power actually comes from the main connector (JST in the Hana's case).)
My issue unfolded in this thread:/topic/68330-topic/?do=findComment&comment=914505 On firmware upload the "Please Wait" progress box will flash for a minute, device goes dark & will not respond to any communication. Pressing fire button on device powers it up again and will restore serial communication but not in firmware update. I have tried pressing fire button to repower device through the firmware update but it will return error on computer screen command failed. Unit appeared to be operating correctly independent of this vaping a Lemo 2 with twisted 28ga ni200 .07ohm build @ 360deg until on one vape I had 2 separate 1sec full 200w spikes on the preheat graphed on the device monitor that blew apart my build in the lemo and gave me a lungful of fire the taste of which I cannot describe. I was so busy choking on the lungful that I did not think to do a screenshot before it timed out on the device monitor. Apparently it slipped into kanthal mode and blasted 200w even though unit was set for 24w. Perhaps under vaping conditions my build loosened at a screw contact but that never should have happened. Since then the Hana serial cable has developed communication issues and I am using another serial cable I happened to have around. All this happened yesterday afternoon. These were done with a subtank equipped with a ni200 occ as I have not rebuilt the Lemo2. This hana is equipped w/ jst rcy connector that does not appear melted down but i am having trouble separating it. Prior to the Lemo2 coil burnout my preheat spikes were approaching the height of the power checkbox on the left. The double spike when the coil burned out went above the battery indicator line as high as the charge box.
19. Just did same thing with the 8/7 update. Accidentally left my Hana V200 connected via usb while I ran the https://www.dimensionengineering.com/software/SetupES_2015-08-07.exe Everything went fine on install but when it prompted to update the firmware to the 2015-08-07.sw-update it started to download, the little box flashed, screen went dark on V200 & got error message that no device was connected on repeated tries. Pressing fire button on device reboots device and escribe can see it if I connect through device monitor & appears to work. Pulled cable & reloaded https://www.dimensionengineering.com/software/SetupES_2015-08-07.exe completely same thing happens when I try to update firmware, even when I try to roll it back to 2015-07-16.sw-update. Rebooted Win8.1 64bit computer & uninstalled escribe completely reinstalling program...no change. Tried installing same update on win7 64bit machine. Same thing. Cannot update firmware at all on HanaV200 due to unit shutting down during firmware update. I can only access unit in device manager after hitting fire button to reboot. Just pulled escribe from win7 machine & rebooted w/ intention to go back to stable release escibe & load it but that is release I had on win7machine when I first rebooted the win 8.1 machine & had communication issues there too. Cable is one that came with hana & have been using without issue since I got it. Just tried to roll back to 2015-07-16.sw-update on the clean install of stable release & same issue exists. Think I screwed up the Hana? What process did you kill in Device Manager to Fix yours?
James, John, or Branden do you have any advice on how to proceed considering conditions described above? is there a command line command to diagnose integrity of board programming & operation of device itself to determine why it will not accept firmware updates?
20. Updated firmware from 2015-06-26.sw-update it came with to 2015-07-16.sw-update right after I got the unit w/ no problems. 23. Thanks for the quick reply. I had my escribe box checked to automatically check for updates and got no prompt of such an update. Thanks again!
24. Escibe and Device Monitor always seem to want to always open in Full Screen Mode and I find this really, really annoying. Any other Windows programs I have with exception of a few cad programs I tried will open with the last sized window view I was using it in. Is there any way one can customize escribe to set it up to remember what screen view settings were the last time the program was open and have it open the same size next time? Is there something in options ot tools I am missing? I'm also curious if the device monitor could remain open while I edit settings in escribe instead of having to close it before changing & uploading a setting only to have to open it again and then resize the window twice to see the effects of the changes I made on the device monitor graph in a window size I can keep open on the right of my screen While I work on other projects on the left of my screen. Thanks for your help. TP
