Conanthewarrior Posted yesterday at 06:12 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:12 PM (edited) Hello everyone, for the past few days I have been using an OBS Crius RTA with a dual coil, 10 wrap 2MM ID 26G SS316L build coming in at around 0.29 Ohms. TC/Temp protection was working until just now, when the mod displayed the resistance as 0.32 instead of 0.29 Ohms. I took off the RTA, let it cool, and put it back on and it is again reading at 0.29 Ohms, however where it shows the temperature on screen 3 small lines like this --- come up instead of the temperature rising for the temp protection to kick in. What could have stopped temp protection working, as I was really enjoying the vape I was getting at 40W with the temp set at 240C. EDIT: I have connected to Escribe, and live Ohms the reading is rising as the coil heats and TC is working sometimes but not others, it was working constantly before. Wayneo Posted yesterday at 07:06 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:06 PM Sounds like your coil. Maybe a small hotspot has developed. You can run Atomizer Analyzer to look at the stability of the coil. It should fluctuate a few thousandths of an ohm once it's cooled down.

It seems like it must be, it is fluctuating from 0.29 to 0.34 when I turn the atomiser a bit as atomizer analyzer tells you to do, is this likely the coil or the RTA? Wayneo
Those numbers should be decreasing while you make a snug connection. Then you should watch the values. It'll be noticeable when the mod applies low power to the coil. It can be dirty threads on your mod, atty or something with the coil. Hotspot, coil not actually centred under the holdown and shifted a bit.

Hotspot, coil not actually centred under the holdown and shifted a bit. The number does decrease as it gets more snug then settles at 0.29. When I run atomiser analyzer only the final digit is shifting when the mod is at rest by a couple of numbers.

That would be the third digit (thousandths) of an ohm. I'd say it's stable. As your mod and atty both come back to the ambient temperature they sync up. On mine, if it's near the midpoint (like .284Ω) it might fluctuate from .28Ω to .29Ω.
