DNA250's reading different ohms

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm new to the forum and fairly new to DNA mods. Looking for some help with a issue I'm having.

My RDA reads 0.13ohms on my VaporShark DNA250 with 3S Lipo Pack. But when I put it on my Rebel DNA250/167 it reads 0.16ohms this mod uses 2 18650's.

I tried to be as detailed as possible for the best answer. Is this an issue that I can fix? Or is it not a big deal and ignore it? Thank you.

So your Rebel has not been setup. Search the forum for giz_method mod resistance and hopefully you'll find it. Otherwise I'll find it and send you a link tomorrow. It'll take about 15 minutes tops to find and set (10 of 'em to make sure your coil is back at ambient temperature. Your still perfectly fine to use your mod.

Mod resistance calibration (giz method) without pictures

A coil will work, but the Test is best run with about a 4in. - 6in. piece of TC wire across an RDA build decks posts. (like a baseball shape, not a coil)
In Escribe (mod tab), set Mod Resistance to 0.
In wire profile, Power = 1 Temp = 0 / Preheat temp = 1 preheat Punch = 1 Preheat Time Limit = 0.
Upload To Device ... attach deck with coil or wire to mod ...pulse (quick) fire to get mod to check cold ohms (if new coil question asked, answer yes)
Run Atomizer Analyzer ... allow wire to cool back to room temperature (extremely important) & subtract the Cold Ohms from the Raw Ohms
The difference will be the Mod Resistance..

Thanks I'll give this a try tomorrow. I don't have to use TC only wore right? Kanthal will work also

For the test mod resistance calibration you need to use TC wire - of course your mod will also work with Kanthal coils

Please make sure that both mods are using the same wire material curves!

Ok I guess I'll have to go grab some TC wire from a local shop. I'll only be doing this calibration on the Rebel mod since it shows 0 and was not done to it.

You´re always welcome!

(b.t.w i´m not a specialist - so following my tips is on your own risk)

So in order for my Rebel mod to read the same as the VaporShark that was tested correctly the Rebel needs to be at 0.019 ohm mod resistance. Is that normal or a high number?

0,019 ohm????? Normally you use a copper tool to read the internal mod resistance - the copper will shorten the 510 connector with no external resistance - so your measurement will only read the internal resistance of the wire - 510 connector - usually it will come out with 0,003 ohms - this 0,003 ohms are part of the total resistance measured with an attached atomizer - if your atomizers coil is 0,16 Ohms you´ll have a total resistance of 0,163 Ohms - the DNA knows that the 0,003 Ohms are not the part of the coil resistance - So without copper tool you´ll never get 100% accurateness - the lower the numbers of the mod (mod resistance) the better it is.

But thats my interpretation of the function - as i told you i´m not an expert - stay tuned until someone from evolve follows and answer your question............or someone else here in the forum

Mikel

Yeah I ordered one of the tools last night. So once it's get here I'll be able to do the proper test. I just figured my VaporShark DNA250 is showing true ohms since they actually did the resistance test to get the 0.007 that shows in eScribe. Where as the Rebel showed 0

So - one more try - i´ll take a look into your problem - can you please upload your ecig file of both mods - maybe we can discover whats up............

Idk how to do that lol. Sorry

Normally Boxer/Rebel using Fat Daddy 510 connectors - for me the best 510 - so if you have problems to tighten the atomizer completely the problem is related to the threading of the atomizers 510 ----SMOK crap?

Sorry - maybe others having different experiences with SMOK Atomizers ...... i do´nt like them - to much trouble ;-)

I have 3 mods and they all read off from the VaporShark. Reload RTA, Goon V1.5 and Cosmonaut RDA. All good quality atomizers. Idk what 510 is on the Rebel but it seems they out a black plasticish type thing over it

Seems very high compared to the mods I own. Your VS was probably just populated from the values obtained from a batch, but you can test it using this method to validate, after setting it to 0 and then uploading. AA has not worked for me with the copper shorting tool since Feb 2016 on any 2xx series board, first going down to .006 followed by a ?. Now with the latest escribe v1.2 sp5.2, it goes down to .005 IIRC, without ever a ?

Wondering what you'll look at here?

Where on the Rebel I can't screw my RDA down as much and seems it's not making as strong of a connection

Aren't your thoughts backwards here? You can bottom out the VS, but you cannot on the Rebel, meaning you're guaranteed a stronger connection on the Rebel.

I'll defer to @Lowbytes who has the entire German community behind him, and even @LeeWB3 here, the creator of those 4 fine calibration videos.

My last comment .......... a lower than actual value, or 0, is better than an incorrect high value

Ok I'll set it back to 0 in escribe and when the copper 510 tool gets here see what it comes up with. Obviously the 0.03 difference between the 2 doesn't bother me. I just was confused as to why the same board would show different results. Now that I've learned about the whole internal mod resistance and setting it I can see why they are off. I was just worried my new Rebel may have had an issue. I've already learned a good amount of info here. Thanks everyone
