TheFogginSailor
So, I just got this chip and I´m making a prototype right now.But i wanted to use 18650s istead o LiPo, since all of my customers want long batterylife and the already use 18650s.Right now I can´t get the cell info as the LiPo provides, I´m not using USB for charging anyways. At first it didn´t work, but after changing to Mod>Power Supply it works, and I know it says to not use this with batteries. But it fires and it seems like it works.Any ideas here? And the display is flashing, cant find any settings for this and cant find the "error".Pics: Sorry for the Large phots and orientation, no time for editing here - The Foggin Sailor, Drammen, Norway. TheFogginSailor
I got the June 30. update, hmm, might try to do an update here!
TheFogginSailor
I did not have the update, lol, thanks macz!Anyway, it works with 18650s, but is it safe? Since there is no settings for it..?
John
Just as safe if the 18650s are tapped and polarized properly in their connections. Lipo and high drain 18650s charge exactly the same.

John
You are free to trust or not trust whatever you like, but what exactly are your concerns with charging the 18650s from the board? It is very much built to handle it.

It is very much built to handle it. Well, its not that I dont trust the board or good batteries, but i dont trust "the user", there are so many ways to make mods go poof. And with a charging board, I loose a lot of space, or get at larger mod.I´ve been working with the SX350J for the last couple of months, very reliable, but a pain to assemble. Getting the DNA200 in the mail yesterday was fantastic, no glue or presoldered wires.Good job here eVolv! And the EScribe is great, but I cant find support for showing Celcius anywhere, except in temp settings.dc601 said:So reverse battery protection won't be available in your design either? Not yet, this is just the prototype, I have to figure out how it will be assembled, mounting problems etc. Now I´m in the reseach part, and asking questions
John
Asking questions is what this forum is for. Where do you want to show Celsius? It should be available everywhere you can show a temperature, but how you set it varies by item.

Yep!I have changed the General>Settings>Temperature to Celcius, cant find any other options in EScribe to change this.I was just fooling around with the roomtemp/boardtemp, but it is showing F. But, I havent looked into the onboard menu yet. Im still in the process of learning here, got no experience with your boards before now!I like it alot so far! John
Oh... That is an interesting question. Room and board temperature are internal prooperties. I'm not sure those can get converted to C right now. Worth adding if not.

Yeah, I thought that might be a firmware-thing, I have to print me some buttons, right now its a pain to play around with the mod.Another question, do I have to attach the tap to every single 18650 to get Battery Meter? John
Yes, and to have any low voltage cutoff. The taps are not optional.

Gor3cki
Hello Foggin Sailor! Can you give me an approximate dimension of your mod? I'm planning for doing a square mod 3 x 18650 mod for this dna and trying to figure out if it's worth the dimension...I'm planning to use the onboard charging balance port, it can be useful during travels ok when a usb is available And can't decide if using a soldered 3x18650 triangle shape batteries... it will give me something like 36mm x 35mm x 67mmbut i'll give away the swappable capability of the 3 x 18650 in lines...Did you make it with your mod finally? Thanks
