@Rob_H wow, all that for $50, nice. definitely beats my 40w radioshack pencil iron i use. when you get it let me know how it performs, especially the hot air rework part. might get one...

Was suppose to be here yesterday but the mail is late cause Christmas I think but should be early next week. The price was really good and considering it wont be used in a commercial application just for my occasional needs it should be fine I think.

here's another pic of the install. you can sort of see where i connected the 10k res to on the daughter board. it may help some......
FYI, you need to install the screen ribbon to the DNA 60 before soldering mating the two boards. i also removed the DNA's up and down buttons (not the entire button, just unclipped the actuators).

Good to know thank you. I got a rework station coming pretty excited about that. I was worried about tackling this there is allot work to do on the daughter board.

Here is the one I got what do you think?

@joelhammonds - yes, the positive side of capacitor. those pin holes are vias don't concern yourself about those.

another option is this pin of the charging IC, it's all on the same circuit, whatever is easier.

TBH and don't get offended, if you're not that familiar with circuits or soldering this can end up being a very difficult modification and a big headache. i didn't mention this but i also had to grind away an aluminum post for the DNA 60 to fit.

Thanks for the pics I am going to be doing the same this takes the guess work out of it.

I have a couple of boards on the way to the UK, not too bothered about the USB for charging or themes.

Would it be possible to transplant this into a big screen DNA 40 squonker?

Absolutely if you can get one lol

I decided to update my 200 by adding some knife clips and a fast 5A charging port. (like on my 1590B)   the battery can handle a 5C charge so I'm safe there. charge time takes 20mins from the weak battery display. this add-on mod is so worth it on a vemon 1300Mah battery. So how did you wire inside the device to run a 5amp charger. Are you still plugging into the stock location or did you run a remote usb.

edit: I see the plug now in the first image.

    Only DNA 60 I've seen......

I seen that one its pretty nice. I was asking about the Evolv DNACustom mods if any have been sent out yet. I am guessing no.

Just guessing but because of the wording used here I suspect the case on the 60 to be different than the ones for the 75 and 250

"DNA 75 and 250: Choosing Black for buttons will drastically reduce your lead time. Matte Black cases are out of stock and will drastically increase your lead time.

DNA 60: Choosing Silver for buttons, and Black, Red, or Blue for the case will drastically reduce lead time.

Edit: I see that I misinterpreted as saying (60) Black, Red, or Blue for the case will drastically increase lead time not reduce lead time so now I have no idea.

My wants for what this mod are the Dna60 in a Reference case and removable 18650. That would be pretty awesome, super small and be able to swap cells easily.

@robh How are ya liking that Serpent Mini. I just got one and haven't had a chance to wire and wick it yet.

Its really good I think. The flavor is not as good as my Kayfun 5 but for something with a decent amount of airflow its nice. I have a 30g over 26g Ni80 clapton 5 wraps 2.5mm @ .60ohms running in it now and its pretty decent. Its easy to fill too I have not had to close the air off in it with no leaks.

True. I love Evolv's DNA boards but I don't understand all the problems. You don't hear about this happening all the time with the SX350J or the joytech boards. Why? What's different?

That is very far from the truth and I myself have had a Dna200 failure. I also have had two SX failures with one that was never resolved and never received the board back. Evolv products are very reliable and your issue is a rare one as far as I can see. If your are so inclined to do so you could pull the board and send it into Evolv. They will repair or replace it I am sure. The other option is sending that mod to wherever they have warranty work which could be China?

Here is where to contact Evolv

I ordered one as soon as they went up for sale. I have no insider information. I suspect they will be Modcrate Silo 900's. To be honest I'm hoping for that.

That is the same as the Reference mod used wasn't it? I would expect them to be the same as those were even the Dna60 but that one would have a different button lay out.

it's the same screen as reg dna 200. however VS add an extension ribbon cable to reach the board. just looked inside of mine. so you would have to get a 200 screen and add the extension. my guess is the average user cannot do this.

good find on the screens tho.....

Extensions should be available just as easy as the screens are and will have a part number on them also. Contacting MIT could be the easiest way letting them know what is needed.

I am sure they are available.

The screen of my VS DNA200 died =(

It started by getting scrambled from time to time and finally gave up. Does Evolv sell the screen with the longer screen cable?

If anybody replaced the screen of a VS and documented the process (instructions and or pics and or video) please send me a link; it will help a lot.

    TIA, D.

Can you get us the part number off of your screen. The pic ive uploaded shows where to find it. It most likely came from MIT and you may get lucky and they be in stock.
