Plugging board direct into laptop usb does screen come on?

Hi ive taken apart my therion 75 original bf mod..im changing the 510 connector to stop the leaking... my question is have i broken the ziff connector or screen? as when i plug just the board direct into escribe the screen doesnt come on? any ideas?? thanks in advance...

Can you post a picture of the screen and ribbon?  Also the ziff connector....
