The lipo battery i have has 14g output wires. I have an xt60 connector that i am going to use as my connector. I have some 13g that i bought a while back for a different project at a hobby shop. Would i be able to use the 13g wire from that connector to the dna 200 boards input?

sure, that is what I used.

A friend of mine just told me that it might cause the battery to drain faster. Is that true?

no,  it will just be a little cooler.  the wire just won't heat up as much under load.

Thanks for the information. It is my first time building a regulated device. I have a few unregulated devices that i have made so i am a little familiar with building. Just wanted to make sure that i didnt burn up the board.
