-
is it ok when the screen is on ?

well, i rinsed it with water, very well. then i blew it out with canned air. then i took it loose and had a look. there was a few tiny drops of water, i tasted, but nothing to worry about. so, it is what it is, time will tell.

Hello, Bill
the wheel works fine, though i don't use it. but i do know that juice can damage contacts. and i really don't know how well the switch is sealed. i do know there is a larger outside seal, but what, if any, is around the shaft . and that "perhaps" the switch contacts get corroded enough to short 2 contacts and kill the chip.

i have a TOP GEAR mod. somehow juice got down around the knob. i am not concerned about the knob, unless you have info on it. mostly what i want to know = if i cut the wires for the knob, it wouldn't effect the chip ? i am figuring not, but i don't want to assume.
on the dovpo FB page, i asked about cleaning the switch. after 2 lame recommendations, i gave an explanation of my concerns, my thread was deleted.

Device Monitor = diagnostics = advanced = update clock = does nothing.

what would cause this ? it also has the date error, probably related.

i wish it wasn't such a pita, but that is par for me. i wonder why i had to tweek the contacts. but its working, just used it, so that is all that matters. well, and that it keeps working and doesn't get damaged again.
-
its done and working well. i had to tweek the terminals.
Thanx for the help, Wayne 👍

ok. but i see no way to get inside the zif to touch with a q-tip.
the ribon goes all the way, but does feel loose, i can move the screen side to side with the connection being the hinge point. the clamp does not clamp it tight, but i can not pull it out. i press on the zif a little and that does nothing.
-
idk how i would clean the zif, other than spraying it with something. saying that, the chip doesn't have any juice on it. it was all on the inside of the mounting housing that holds the screen. old ribbon is dry also.
so, how would i clean those ?

Did ya look at the pics? There's room under there (away from the fire button), it'll lay flat. We've been doing that for 5+ years 👍
the one pic i saw, the ribbon was folded over the terminal, then back to the folded screen. am i missing something

ok. when i installed the first screen = all white display. i tried my other 2 screens, same thing. so i went back to the first screen and fiddled with it and got it working. now, trying to fold the ribbon in place = white screen. any ideas ?
-
its all good man, do your thing.

well that ribbon gets all bent up, i hope its robust. seems fragile to me
-
ok, i will go look ffor that. thanx

You can power the Color boards with just USB power but the screen will not work without battery power.

i just stated to install a new screen in a LV Drone. the ribbon is way to long. i am guessing they made them universal. so, how do i shorten it ?
