Koopor Plus can adjust TCR down to 0.000x but not DNA200?
TheRedBaron replied to jj6404's topic in General Discussion
Because other things such as mod resistance have a greater effect on temp control would be my guess. -
Doing all the testing and setup of a DNA 200 Mod.
TheRedBaron replied to LarryLenz's topic in EScribe, Software and Firmware
If people who do the reviews of these products on youtube would take the time to see how poorly these devices are setup from the factory and include that info in the review, the manufacturers would fix the problem expediently. If you really want to see a change, post a comment in a reviewers youtube of all the info he/she left out. If the owners of the products post solid info left out by the reviewer, the reviewers will change. Sample: I have an Hcigar VT200. I ran the Battery Analyzer and fond out it only has a 1000mah battery in it and the Case Analyzer info was never set up from the factory either. Why didn't you include that info in your review? I gave a thumbs down for this review and that's why. Please include this basic info in your future reviews. -
I am going to post here firmwares a few days before they go on EScribe's auto-updater, for those interested in trying things early, and so if yall find a bug we don't release it to the auto-updater. We appreciate your help testing these.
Um, there have been a sheit load of updates never pushed out. If I didn't rewatch Phil Busardos DNA 200 videos and confirm my software was up to date I never would have found this thread. After updating Escribe I discovered a firmware update for my Hcigar. I'm not trying to bust any body's balls here but seriously, who ever is in charge of making the decision to push out updates should be taped on the shoulder and given the yes it's time nod. You guys are doing a great job, why not share?

Outstanding kraze6548! That looks GREAT! Good news is at least now people have choices. Bad news is they both require a dremel. How long did it take to modify yours? I just completed my second battery analyzer test. First time I used a 1.5 Ohm loop and scored a disappointing 13.892. This time I made four 1 Ohm loops for a .25 Ohm load test as suggested by John from Evolve at the end of this page. /topic/67481-topic/ Needles to say I was expecting much better results. WRONG! Second test with the Turnigy 1300mah 25-50c Nanotech came in at 13.93.

TheRedBaron replied to mikepetro's topic in Batteries and Charging
Exactly. I will post my results, but to be fair to Tunigy I need to do all tests with the same conditions. One test I did with 100% battery with no trickle charging the other I did as soon as it hit 100% but noticed as i unplugged it it was still charging. I will do a third test at the actual Ohms I vape at just for a comparison. -
If you want the most accurate battery meter possible, shouldn't the test be run at the Ohms we vape at daily? EDIT: I will answer my own question. I ran two tests on my battery. One at 1.5 Ohms and the second at .25 Ohms. Test one ended up 13.89 and the second scored 13.93. Very little difference for wildly different Ohm loads.

Mike, I love what you're doing but can I make a suggestion? Add a column for the Ohms load it was tested under. I have tested my battery with different Ohms load and got totally different results. -
That's a good one but I was actually thinking of the Thunder Power mentioned earlier in this thread. Thunder Power RC LiPo 3S 11.1V 1350mAh ProLite+Pwr 25C http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/woi0001p?&I=THPA1140&P=SM But I'm no Lipo guru. If I was I wouldn't have bought a battery that didn't fit to start with. Last night I did the Escribe Battery Analyzer with the Tunigy 1300mah nanotech 25-50, same as sy5tem has pictured above. Results ended up a disappointing 13.892. Perhaps it was because I smashed the battery in a vise 3 or 4 times trying to get it to fit or Perhaps it was my redneck test setup. I used one strand of 24 gauge kenthal 8 3/4" long for 1.5 Ohm on a Dark Horse RDA set to 40 watts with a simple 12" house fan blowing on it to keep things cool. If anyone can make a logical suggestion on a better setup without buying resistors and large heat sink, I welcome it. Two days ago I vaped this battery down to 3% trying to get a weak battery warning (3.11 volts) and it still hit fine at 430 degrees, 0.08 Ohm Ni200 build, at 50 watts and battery capacity set to 14.43. That's what makes me suspicious it was not an accurate test. I've seen the Hcigar battery test 11.07, 10.93 and 10.77 in this thread: /topic/65611-topic/ And the Turnigy test at 14.83 in this thread. /topic/65816-topic/?do=findComment&comment=890993 I would like to see mine test better. I may try varying the Ohms load and see if that changes the end result. Maybe she just isn't a good test taker...

Nope. Didn't think I'd be doing a write up on this. Background. I bought the Hcigar Thinking it was a above average battery, above average form factor and i was sold on the DNA200 after using a Vaporflask DNA40. DNA200 Day one, I threw a dripper on it and it blew the flask away at 40%+ battery. When it dropped into the 30% range something changed. I charged it over night and I was back to total bliss. I noticed when it got into the 30% battery range it got weak. I learned to start charging in the 40% range. I checked online, correct battery setting for 1300mah battery should be set to 14.43 and confirmed in my escribe. Suspicions of Hcigar using 1000mah battery is found on the web and it makes sense. I got a wild hair and measured the VT200 battery and compartment. Battery size is .780x1.158x2.565. Compartment size is .825(21mm)x1.44x2.7 estimated. Searched and found Turnigy was a popular brand and the 25c nano tech 1300mah was the closest fit. Unfortunately when received it didn't fit. At 22mm thick this was going to require some tinkering. Out came the Dremel and soldering iron. Once I made the swap i was surprised to find I was the first to put a 1300mah battery in a Hcigar VT200 and even more surprised to find 20mm thick 1300mah battery from a better brand was easily available. Post swap notes. I was vaping between 450f to 530f with the stock battery and between 3pm to 5pm it was time to recharge to keep above 40% on the battery meter. Now I'm vaping between 400f and 430f and blowing thicker clouds, going through more juice and haven't needed to recharge until bedtime. Last night I vaped down to 3% on the battery meter and it was still hitting strong. Tonight I'm giving up at 7%. I'm looking forward to doing the escribe battery analyzer with this battery.

My Hcigar VT200 came with the 14.43 setting for a 1300mah battery. the problem is the actual mah of the factory battery is closer to 1000. When the DNA200 chip senses a weak battery it goes into a limp mode to get you home. Mine went into limp mode when the battery meter was in the 30% range. Don't worry, nothing is wrong with the chip, just the settings. Vapingbad gave good advise, charge it up.

I can confirm the Turnigy nano-tech 1300mAh 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack can fit with modification. This is how to make it fit. Start by removing the four number 6 torx screws on battery cover and separate. Remove Hcigar battery carefully so not to damage the balance plug on the DNA200 board. Cut the main power xt30 plug off of the Hcigar battery one inch from the battery. Cut the power xt60 plug off of the Turnigy battery close to the plug. Solder xt30 plug to Turnigy battery and cover solder joints with heat shrink. The inside of the battery compartment is .825 and the Turnigy is .925 inches thick so this is where things get messy. Dremel out the inside of the battery compartment removing half of it's thickness on both sides. Do the same thing to the chip side of the battery compartment. Plug in the Turnigy battery running the wires the same as the factory battery with the xt30 plug in the curved area of the battery compartment. Reinstall cover and the four torx screws. I now have what I thought I bought a month ago... This is a repost from another thread. Mods, if I'm breaking a rule, please let me know... /topic/67719-topic/ Later in that thread... That battery plastic wrap got torn up and eventually torn off during the test fitting proses. I didn't notice it helping much. There is a step on the mating side edges of the box. Plan on shaving out material all the way to that step. Once that gets paper thin it will fold over and break off. Don't bother with the Dremel sanding drums, they don't last long. go straight to a cutting tool. that would have saved me a lot of time. I should mention I noticed today the mod feels significantly heavier now. The mod used to look heavy but was light. Now, looks and feels heavy. This battery really fills up a lot of the wasted space inside. If it was one millimeter thicker like the 45c or 60c 1300mah Turnigy batteries I would have just cut the side of the box out the slightly smaller then the size of the battery. Definitely would have been faster.

I bought mine through Amazon but Hobby King has them too. http://www.amazon.com/Turnigy-nano-tech-1300mah-25~50C-Lipo/dp/B00QUQ1CVO/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1446967501&sr=1-1&keywords=Turnigy+nano-tech+1300mah+3S+25~50C+Lipo+Pack http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11903__Turnigy_nano_tech_1300mah_3S_25_50C_Lipo_Pack.html
