Yes I had it plugged in the whole time (using the micro USB port) and the battery indicator showed it was full. However, I hadn't upgraded the firmware yet,Mao I don't know if it was completely full. Nonetheless, I was just about to push the "OK" button to upgrade it and noticed the screen was dead and I haven't been able to get it to work since.Jentz9517 said:did you charge the battery?

Well, I finally got my running and getting ready to install new firmware and my mod went dead...figures.

So I finally got my HOTCIG today, and I was just about ready to download the new firmware and...it went dead. Are freaking kidding me???!! I didn't even put a tank and try to vape it yet, haven't even had it for 12 hours and the board dies on me??? So now what do I do? Can't see this being HOTCIG's fault....any advice is welcome. I'm so disappointed. I've waited almost a month to get this mod.

My MAC recognized the DNA 200 and in VB, it gives me the option to add the port, but when I run VB, it says "FATAL: No bootable medium found! system halted." and when I click the USB icon on the bottom the "Dimension Engineering Evolv DNA 200 USB" link is not in dark....I have no idea what I'm doing and it's so frustrating!

That's great news! Keep us posted...Jentz9517 said:Update: Bennett was able to find shipper for spare battery to U.S. And even threw in a dripper- Gotta say even with the back/forth emails he went above and beyond my expectations and never once left an email unanswered. Good job Hotcig

That doesn't make sense. It would be no different than shipping a battery by itself, right?Jentz9517 said:Was just informed they can't ship battery and enclosure separately since it doesn't have the component it runs Dhl returned package to him - So we are screwed

Where exactly did you go to purchase an extra battery enclosure? I can't seem to find what I am looking for...Jentz9517 said:Mine is tilted very slightly forward- They are press fit in- I just now sent Hotcig 41.80 shipped for another battery and enclosure also The one I have is ok but want to swap when needed if you find a good 510 like the fat daddy short and tap it in let us know how it works Thanks

Are these EVOLV 510's available to the public now or in the future?

Are those 1350mah cases going to be available to us, or is this just a custom box?mikepetro said:The Reference Mod's bigger 1350mAh brothers:

I read in another post that you need to do a firmware upgrade on the Hotcigs. It seems that everyone is having battery issues before they do the upgrade. I am waiting on mine to get in the mail. Let me know if/when you figure things out.
-
So, I'm confused, did you replace the 510 it came with? If so, do you have pictures?dwcraig1 said:I would rather used a 7 x .50 mm bolt but I only have the tap. Screw nut onto the tap as shown, then washer, then receiver and screw into 510. Hold tap from turning and screw nut downward drawing 510 into nylon sleeve. My nut here is a VS rDNA 510 with it's one end drilled out. Crude but effective.

How has it been holding up? I am thinking about purchasing a HotCig, but don't know much about the company, so I'm a little apprehensive. I have been patiently waiting for the beta mod kits to be released, although, I have never built my own mod before. I am due for a new mod and really want the DNA 200, however, don't want to make an irrational decision. So, is the HotCig a "good" buy? In your opinion of course?Podunk Steam said:They didn't do too bad with these. I'm fairly impressed and that doesn't happen easily with me.

I was thinking about buying one of those, because they were having a promo, but am not familiar with Hotcig and haven't heard anything about them. 1.) Other than the bad board, does it seem like a reliable build? 2.) How do the tanks look on it? Reason I'm asking is because it looks like the 510 protrudes a little bit, which gave me some concerns. 3.) what keeps the unit together? Magnets? Notches?

When are these Tall Boys gonna be available on your website? I keep visiting your site, but haven't seen anything yet...please give an update. Thanks.Russ ModCrate said:Hey Evolv Modders,
Just wanted to show some of what we have been working on. Currently we have Mod Crate Tallboys being milled for the Mamu faceplate. We went this route vs something more fancy and refined as we though it would be a great entry level enclosure for new modders. It offers plenty of room and the Mamu faceplate is incredibly easy to install brining the difficulty level down significantly.
In the future we will have some boxes with integrated mounting points and cut outs for the reference case button actuators.
Is there anything specifically this community of DNA users would like to see? What gives you guys a headache when building DNA/DNA200D mods? We like running our machines but we like solving problems even more.

Like others have said, the box looks really nice, but why don't you just mill your own faceplate from aluminum, rather than relying on another provider? In my opinion, thaT would be simplifying it much more. EDIT: I just read your reply. My only other question is, is it safe to say these will only fit the lipo 3s 900mah batteries?

They look pretty nice...how much are they gonna cost?Russ ModCrate said:Hey Evolv Modders,

Thanks usy219 and Gm111, I thought I remember reading there were on board fuses, but I have read/watched tutorials for the DNA 20/30/40 where they had soldered fuses onto the wires coming from the battery. Fortunately, that's one less thing to worry about.
-
I am also a new modder, and have been getting great advice from this forum. The question I have that is a little ambiguous to me, is do I need to add any extra fuses onto the wires coming from the battery to the DNA board? If so, what is recommended?

Nice! This is all great stuff!Tomr1088 said:One of the guys on the ecigarette forum is making a machined version of the reference case but a tiny bit bigger for a 1300mah lipo. Should be able to be ordered through a co-op soon

John, how will I know when these are ready? I live in Sandusky, Ohio (Cedar Point), so I will gladly drive to you to pick one of these up when the time comes!John said:Don't worry, these will happen eventually...

I think it looks great! The leather adds a different appeal you don't normally see in mods...and who doesn't love the smell of leather?,jevon said:I got a chance to mill out the window for the display using a 3/32" end mill. The screen is registered in place much like the Evolv reference case was. I also decided to wrap the carbon fiber sleeve with leather. It feels nice in the hand, I like the look, and it smells like leather to boot! I'll cut out another carbon sleeve when I get a chance, so i'll be able to change the look if I want. Also the polished aluminum looks great but scratches way to easy. Still going to get it anodized, maybe silver. Thoughts?
Should have it working sometime this week.

could i send the specs to a machine shop to have this made myself out of aluminum?
I am asking in regards to the evolve beta version of the case itself?
Hotcig DX200 stopped working after less than 2 days use.
