Thought that was a week ago and somewhere els, Yes it was the tc i was refering to, for quality of vape i stay below the max ive set as allready said, if i de-selected it from showing i wouldnt know how the mod was prrforming, always each to his own, but for me,, vaping on the max with temp protection kicking in, is like riding a motorcycle or driving a car with a misfire, (cutting in and out) and if you where to dyno tune it- it would be calibrated to a moor steady flow, giving smoother performance,, but it aint so each to his own allso in answer to the leaving the preloaded tank attys on the shelf for a month or moor, eew groce, lol, i know a bloke who sucks sweets for a while and them puts them on his dashboard for anouther time, lmao,, and a few weeks ago an ol lady gave me some fudge that i thought was cheese,, then i noticed the sell by date was 2004, groce.

This board does not use PWM so it does not do what other boards do and pulse like a misfire, in fact it is very smooth and does not ever kick in and out. It rises slightly above and below the set temp quickly and gives a nice smooth vape. Device monitor, when vaping shows this very well. This board does things that others do not do, amazingly. Options not arguments.
I don't understand people who adjust wattage. Do you realise how TC works, particularly on the DNA200?

You can't change the preheat on the device. I'm assuming most people have a higher preheat value than their standard value. Once your device reaches set temperature, the required wattage drops quite low. So for the majority of use cases out there, you can keep changing those Watts all you want, the resulting vape should be exactly the same, the rest is just a placebo effect.

this would be true for those of us who use nickel only, i though, use many other wires than nickel, and some wire mixes, in which preheat does not perform well, so i have to keep the preheat turned off.  anyone using Ti or SS is most likely not using preheat, and that is a good portion of vapers on here. So therefore, changing wattage on a device with no preheat does make a huge difference
I don't use Ni200 at all any more. My main wire is 316L. Pre heat works wonderfully. And all my friends do too. I set the wattage at max and control my vape with temp, just like on every other new device out there. I use to use my lower watt devices like you suggest DNA 40 etc... where that small window of available wattage made a difference, but things are different with all the available wattage now. The industry came from a VV to VW stage to temp control. ITs the Evolution of Vaping. Evolve with their original TC devices patented controlling temp with wattage to protect their chips from the clone thieves.(quick and dirty explanation you can check the patent office for more detail) This is why you saw Joule mode on competing devices. The DNA 200 has reached a whole new level.  I love my vape quality from my DNA 200 devices. IT is an OPTION you must have to not lose customers. OPTIONS. In temp control mode on a DNA 200, if I set the watts at max, leave all other temp settings at default except temp, the DNA 200 does an AMAZING job. It Punches hard in the beginning, no ramp up time at all and has a SMOOOTH signal limited right at the temp I set. I am running dual 316L, 3mm Clapton coils in my griffin RTA on my Reuleaux DNA 200 right now. Awesome experience. This is not and should not be an argument about vape styles. IF one person says they like doing things one way and some one else likes thing another, so be it !. All I can tell you is what I have seen on an oscilloscope and test equipment. This device does not just limit and pulse (rattlesnake) to the temp limit like the YiHi SX330V3SL, or even the newer chips. It actually gives a nice smooth signal at the set temp. The newer chips coming out are a serious threat. PLEASE stop arguing about "I like it this way so you should have to do it like me". Option people Options.

Don't forget there is a fundamental difference between the way some people view temperature control and the way Evolv view it. A lot of users see TC as a way of controlling the intensity or heat of the vape and want to be continually adjusting the temp, whereas Evolve see it as true temperature protection, a way to stop you burning your cotton and avoiding dry hits. If you look at it from the manufacturers perspective there is no need to be continually adjusting temperature, it's pretty much set and forget.

No matter how you look at it you still need to find the right temperature. To do that you must keep going back and forth to get it right.

We are planning and are currently working on another firmware update.  It will likely include some UI/UX changes culled from users like you on this forum.  We plan to continue to listen and improve the DNA 200 platform.  We haven't abandoned you, I promise.

I cant wait ! I hope it includes to be able to change temperature in Temp mode ! Maybe even changing TCR on the mod like so many do now. Make the best board even better! Happy New year and thank you for the communication and not abandoning us.

how are we notified of a new update?

When a new update is made public, it will show up when you start EScribe. Should show up on the bottom left corner in a new box.
Waiting for approved, tested firmware updates in the Escribe software is the "approved" method, but if you want to try the latest BETA versions then you will have to follow the first post in this thread, and download and install manually. The last beta has been out for a LONG time, and works well, giving many more advanced settings, not sure why it has not been made available via Escribe. While I like the DNA200, and supporting a USA company, I get the feeling their overall company budget does not allow them to hire as many software developers as let's say a Chinese company like Joytech that has pumped out firmware updates, every few weeks, now adding manual TCR input on a $40 mod, vaping right now on both my Vaporshark DNA200, and EVic VTC Mini, very comparable, other then the huge price difference. It seems so far since I've owned my first Evolv product, that they are short, personal wise, the programmers to keep up, and I hope they get it together! My example is the overwhelming demand for the simple swapping of being able to set temperature on the main screen instead of the fairly useless wattage mode for TC vaping. This has been requested for a long time, both on this site, and made a bit of a joke, by almost every online reviewer. Joyetech updated its mods firmware in a few short weeks, with some complicated programming, but we still can't easily change the temperature setting, on our advantced temperature controlled DNA200 devices. Evolv, please hire some more experienced programmers, or lose potential sales to these far less expensive Chinese boards that other then extra software options, still deliver a high quality vape!
I cant agree more whit what you said. My Evic VTC mini is incredible now. All EVOLVE needs to do is a firmware update for the temp option on screen. That, and come by and at least say hello to your supporters. I love supporting a U.S. company but they need to support us too. Hope they get it together. It does not take resources to just stop in and say thank you we are working on things for you or something.

I very rarely change the wattage when I'm in temp mode but I like to change temp a lot, especially when using stainless steel coils. The joytech boards in the vtc mini and rx200 have the up and down buttons set to change the temp by default. This is a lot more useful than watts. For the dna200 to be considered a temperature control device surely the main function of the up and down buttons should be to change the temperature? At the moment it feels like a variable wattage device with temperature control as a side feature. Please can we have this as an option in escribe, at the moment it takes 5 clicks and then holding down the up and down buttons every time you want to change the temp and then another 5 clicks to get back to vaping. Sometimes it takes doing this a few times to find the sweet spot. It's extremely annoying and frustrating that my £30 rx200 is actually nicer to use than my dna200. I love this device and everything it can do but it's starting to become a bit of a deal breaker that I find myself going back to my other mods when I want to use a dripper and vape lots of different juices in one night.

+100. I know a bunch of people that wont even buy a DNA because of this. I would love to see this too. Many reviewers also state that this should be an option and how the RX200 is even a better buy because of ease of use. It is a shame that the best chip in the business right now is hampered by way too many clicks (I know you can set the lock clicks to what ever you want in escribe). Just an FYI I love my DNA 200 devices but it could be better with the choice to show temp and change it like almost every new device in the past few months. I also find my self using my other mods and no longer recommending the DNA 200's. Evolv was also always on top of the firmware and escribe. They haven't done any thing in some time. The software every one is using has sat in the early release stage way too long. Nothing for months .
Mine says 1.0.32   I just downloaded yesterday and I thought this updated automatic ? Where did you get your version ? Your battery tab has a manufacturer back button and a few other different things than mine does.

Technically it's a Beta but everyone's using it; bookmark this page https://forum.evolvapor.com/topic/66731-topic/
Thanks again. Downloading it now.

I don't mind doing a Profile for Samsung 25R's but they're not brand new batteries nor are they married from day one. I was going to do a Sony VTC5 Profile because mine are relatively 'new.' So let me know. The 25R's are probably 4-5 months old, but they appear to be working fine. It is easy to do as a DIY, just make a rabbit ears Atty as is shown here and run the Battery Analyzer http://i.imgur.com/gEGDWV1h.jpg

Hello Jaquith. Could you please do the Sony VTC5 profile. I would like to see what you get. I like your input and how you do your profiles. Thank you.

I see both sides of this situation. With the booming popularity of the dna 200 it would probably be wise just so people that are not versed enough to know the difference can easily check the settings of their mod.it would likely save evolv a bunch of dumb emails also. .But the argument that the dna 200 is an advanced vaping device and shouldn't really be used by the type of vapers that wouldn't know the difference could also be strongly argued.

That is all I was saying. Some of the manufacturers have not bothered to do any setup on these devices. I get it. I know how to set it up but many do not. Lets try as a vape community to educate and make things easier not argue and put down. The more info there is the easier it is for new people and the better it is for the whole community.
  11. Hello. First of all. Awesome job on Steam Engine. The best tool in the industry, in my opinion. Second thing is I wrap all of my Ni200 with the same size Kanthal. Do Not over twist it. Make sure that at the connections both wires are crimped. I had problems claptoning where TC was erratic. I now use a 28 GA Ni200 and 28 GA Kanthal, twisted in to a nice spiral. If you over twist it you can actually break down the thickness of the Ni200(because it is so soft) and ruin your experience. I twist @ 20-25 twists per inch. Make a spaced coil and it works out great. Taste is nice (I do not like the taste from Nickel) and TC is spot on. No burnt hits or burnt cotton. I wasted 100's of feet of wire to finally get something that worked well.
