  1. Board has been good till now but did have a service warranty message some time ago.
But upgraded firmware and been great since. Board totally died today. Full battery was vaping at 100 watts with a .16 build took 2 hits and died on the 3rd hit. Nothing on the screen.
Connected it to Escribe and nothing.
Took the mod apart and desoldered all connections and connected usb and still nothing.
Fuse still good tested both sides of fuse and all is good.
Visually inspected board for burnt components and can't see any. No burnt smell at all.
I do believe brandon was right when he told me that with the service warranty message
the board will eventually die. And It did just that today.
I have the RMA form filled out and chip all boxed up and getting ready to ship back.
    Included copy of receipt.
Brandon Hope we can get this taken care of in a timely manner.

  2. You may not have pinched the ribbon cable with the fire button.
But you prob have a short where the ribbon cable connects to the screen.
This is a very fragile connection at the transition from ribbon cable to screen glass.
The factory adds a type of epoxy they call it. I call it more of a silicone.
Where the cable meets the screen. I have also noticed the factory has put a piece of black tape
on the opposite side from the epoxy. The epoxy is on the wrong side and the tape is too.
What I do is remove the piece of tape carefully and use some REAL epoxy to replace the tape.
This helps to stiffen up the connection.
My suggestion to you is replace the screen and use the epoxy where suggested.

  3. The screen ribbon cable is pinched by the fire button.
I know this for a "fact".
When the cable gets pinched it will "definitely" cause the warranty service message
to be displayed. And show a half glitched screen just like your picture.
How do I know this for a fact ?
    Because it happened to ME.
Evolv says it out of calibration and needed to be sent in for service.
If it was out of calibration I don't think it could fix it's self by just changing the screen
and upgrading the firmware. Not trying to contradict evolv just stating facts.
But before I sent it in I replaced the screen and used 8/21 firmware and
BINGO works great NO problems any more.
    That was "months" ago.

Ah good. Keep an eye on it, but if the newest firmware made it start cooperating, and the mod isn't getting unusually warm, then excellent!

Warranty service really means it is running out of calibration for one reason or another.

John I wanted you to know that when the message showed up my ohm's where so unstable
using nickel wire that the ohms where going from .15 to .02 and every where in-between. And my build was checked out at .15 on my ohms meter.
I have stopped using nickel wire and have been using kanthal all day chain vaping it and ohms
and every other thing stable. No more message....No more freaky screen freak outs either.
You can see by the picture you can only read half the warranty message that wasn't a picture reflection that was part of the screen freak out I am talking about. But all that is gone now too.
So again James thanks for the new FW.

    Hello promod2000avenger,

What do you mean by XP 'flashes between black and normal screen'? This sounds like a bug we ought to fix. Could you describe the behavior (or post a video)?

    Thanks,

    James

James what I mean is, In the live view graph window it shows the live data when I vape
but flashes back and forth erratically from black to white in the live view window.
It's not a resolution problem either. I tried all resolutions low and high.
But understand that I am using parallels on a mac with windows xp.
It could very well be the problem it's self.

  6. Well of coarse it won't fix bad cables or pinched ribbons or blown fuses.
I'm just trying to help people out and also help Evolv from getting
unwanted and un needed service if this would fix some peoples problems.
So thats why I'm sharing my good fortune on using the new FW because yes it fixed
all my problems, and it is not just a coincidence.
I'm not trying to give people false hope.

  7. I had the WARRANTY SERVICE message too after updating to 7/29
I was going to ship the chip in for replacement but decided to try
FW 8/7 And BINGO works great ALL my problems gone for now.
We will see what happens in the next few days.
I will keep all of you updated on how it's going.
So my suggestion is TRY 8/7 FW.
Sounds to me there is a glitch in 7/29 FW for some chips.
