ok I have a question about the dna60 in particular but since there is no dna60 section here yet I figured I'd just ask it here in the dna75 section
I'm building a dna60 mod that uses a docking port to charge through a charging dock, and the docking port is directly connected to the usb input connector.
my question is, what would/should happen if the pins on this port were inadvertantly shorted while in a pocket, I'm trying to determine how recessed and protected this docking port should be. I've considered using a docking port in the past to directly connect to a lipo for fast charging but decided against it for safety reasons, but here the battery is somewhat isolated from a direct connection to a certain extent, just not sure to what extent and I'm trying to avoid any destructive testing at this point -

I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the usb board being separate from the main chip, but figured since the usb board is doing the actual charging and communication anyway, maybe not...

don't know why, but my dna60 charges fine but doesn't show the charging amps, just shows 0.0a on the screen and ? in device monitor even though it does charge... any ideas?

ha, back then I predicted about a year and it winded up being ~20 days short of that, and just in time
the dna60 is killer.... -
so this is to say that the temperature protected message was an indication of it actually going over the set limit, where now it's accurate enough in it's protection that it doesn't let it overshoot at all in most cases?

loving this dna60, really allows for building a tiny mod with a lot of power and the latest greatest temperature control algorithms, very smooth with ss316

you could also just pick 4 profiles and repeat them 1-4 and 5-8, so cycling through profiles it would keep cycling through these 4 profiles as if there were only 4...

Evolv has stopped evolving... even the DNA 75 has no new tech, just a smoother TC that they're not giving to the DNA 200.

equal length wires are not necessary here at all. if there was a higher load on these sense circuits then yeah, that would come into play because different wire lengths would affect voltage drop, but here with the balancing circuit it's only being used to sense voltage potential with only a micro amperage potential so differences in length on the order of just a few inches makes no significant difference, if it did then virtually all Digital Voltage Meters would be inaccurate due to the leads themselves. the balance connectors are working similar to a DVM here. of course they're also supplying small amounts of current as a trickle charge to balance, yeah, but a difference in these wire lengths is relatively insignificant here

20ga solid is thinner than 20ga stranded, it will work fine, solid wire is not desirable because if flexed too much it can break easier than stranded, but for a fixed install like a fire switch that's no problem

I agree, I only picked up a few 75's just for the hell of it to play with for maybe a really small mod but honestly I'm much more into the dna200's. to me anything over 50 watts and a small battery will just suck, the 75 may be good as a replacement to the 40 but once you start to use most of it's potential then the 200 just makes more sense I think, especially if the cell size would accommodate the 200 anyway at that point
I find my happy place is the 200 in 2S 133w config. I love my dual 18650's, yeah 6,000 mah in the same space that a lipo would be only half that... even factoring in the excess sag it still far out performs to me, I get 16ml's out of a pair of 18650's but the trick is you must have good battery contacts, this is where a lipo really seems so much better because they usually have much better connections in general, but even with a good 1,000 man 3s lipo I can get through only ~ 12ml of juice. 2 18650's are about the same size as a 1,000 mah 3S, yeah more sag but literally double the mah and the ability to go lower in voltage before swap out more than makes up for it and then some from my experience with it but you need good battery contacts, most 18650 mods fall short there I think -
battery contacts are a big part of this, even if your contacts are optimal a single cell is going to struggle at 70 amps at anything less than a full charge but combine this with less than optimal contacts and I'd pretty much expect to see what you are seeing. either hard wire the cell ( I know you don't want to do that) or improve the contacts for best results at those kinds of drain.

the single degree increment is awesome. before, 440 was a bit too low, 460 a bit too high and 450 was all I could do, now playing with single degrees up & down form there is great!

you would think, being a mac guy, that you may have at some point actually come across some other software out there that also doesn't run on macs... it's really not unheard of... there is a reason software like parallels and vm fusion actually exists you know, it's not because so many people are dying to use internet explorer
I'll agree that I wouldn't mind having another reason to not have to fire up windows, but again, this isn't the only software in existence that causes that, and I'm sure it won't be the last one either... -
higher c values just mean that it's capable of an even more demanding discharge, higher values are no problem as the chip will only pull what it can, as long as the battery can deliver what it can pull all's well, just because the battery may be capable of even more is not a problem at all...

wow I have a few tanks that will sometimes sit full on mods for even months with no use, and don't leak at all. of course they sit vertical, not laying on there side, but still, I wouldn't expect a good tank to leak just sitting there unless somethings wrong with it

I just use a good board, there not that delicate and you're really not going to be subjecting them to any kind of serious abuse handling them for mock-up really. I've even dropped them several times and never had a problem, only thing I'd caution to be careful of is, make sure the screen locking tab is closed and don't apply pressure to the screen locking tab, I've ruined one dna40 that way. other than that, I've been using live boards for years and built plenty of mods, never had a problem, even when the screens used to come permanently attached...

never had a chance to take mine apart, you think your problem came from getting juice on your balance connector? I can see that as being possible on mine really, my balance connector is right under my juice bottle -
I'd say try a single spaced coil first. this will show you that the chip is working as it should, then try duals but make sure they are exactly the same and not shorting by keeping the wraps slightly spaced, the coils really need to be balanced well to each other to function properly

very cool wibberly, really like that but a dumb question, is it using 2 fire buttons? looks like one on top and then the original on board one also has an external button actuator?
