And what kind of temperature, wattage, and preheat are you vaping at?  Burning cotton shouldn't happen..... as wick dries the DNA reduces power etc. causing less vapor and flavor production....the dryer the wick the less vape production until you get no production.... burning cotton may be an indication of coil hot-spots especially with contact coils...
How about a picture of the coil/ burned cotton combination...

true, but if the coil reduces reduces in resistance then it wont turn down due to the resistance is not the right one locked in the device.

cant handle a picture of burned cotton, but my coil is a contact coil consisting of 2x26 guage SS316 and 39 guage n80 spaced around each 26 guage, and a 39 guage around both of them (staggered fused clapton)

there is no hotspots, i make sure of that before putting cotton in each time, and i dont use too much cotton to deform the coils.

The resistance was what when you started? And what did you change it to? By 0.002 ohms? And that made a difference in your vape?

Are you using TC wire to build with? If you are, you shouldn't get any burning with a dripper when it goes dry. All that happens when it is setup correctly is vapor production and flavor diminishes. I vape on a dripper about half of the time and I normally use TC Clapton coils (26g/32g).

What kind of juice are you vaping with anyway? And what is the PG/VG ratio? And what kind of temperature are you generally vaping at?

was 0.15 before, became 0.152 (resistance goes up each time its dry burned).
ye i am using SS316 thats why the resistance matters to me, since TC is based on that.
I am vaping something called caramel cream custard

    3mg nicotine. 9% caramel, 4% sweet cream, 10% vanilla custard 100% VG.
Gets very gunky, so change cotten once or twice a day.

    i vape at 192C 130W preheat at 200W

hum....if you are burning cotton with a DNA you are not doing something right....o.O

well burning cotton when there is no liquid left. mostly at night times i do not have enough light to check if its wet enough, so i use taste to know when to drip.

Just now i rewicked my coils and the resistance rose up by 0.002, not much, but made it so barely any vapor came from it. manual adjustment allows you to get it perfect while on the road.
  4. Well when putting in a new coil it tends to be off by about +/-0.04-0.10 ohm's which in turn either burns my cotton or i get no vape. sure sometimes its without a hitch, but others its not.
I'm using stainless steel 316 btw, which may have an impact (stainless steel fused claptons) screwed down tight, even the RDA is screwed on tight (i use tools to do it, and 510 is clean).

  5. heya guys,

I love the dna200, however there is a few issues with it, that really annoys me when i am out and not able to be at a computer (no i cant bring a laptop to a family party or something, that would be ridiculous)

A menu would greatly help, with some basic functions such as:
Ohm adjustment, live ohm reader, reset puff counter, and other things you may think of that could be handy, (maybe some others can come with suggestions for other stuff lacking in menu, but i think the first 2 are essencial, exp if running in temp control and you switch coil or even take out the cotton and the coil moved some and changed resistance.)

  6. Latest firmware is running great here, only issue i had was after the upgrade it could not download the settings from the device, resulting in needing to setup the device again. (should maybe be looked into before the firmware hits the streets)
Also when deleting the nickel 200 profile from escribe it comes back again along with stainless steel etc.
Other than that things are running great, the new firmware runs perfectly. What's stilll missing is ohm adjustment and reset statistics from the device and then its golden. I'd love a clock on the device too though, but i dont know if this is even possible.

  7. update, i got it working.
it was actually the positive pin causing issues, sometimes it screws it's self a little bit lose.
happened to me a couple of times, probably due to it being a clone (velocity rda, original is not easy to get atm)
I've been using TC without issues for some time now, this device really shines compared to other devices, i can't imagine what evolv's next chip would be capable of, but as long as it has the capabilitiies as the dna200 they have me as a customer (specificly the triple 18650 part and temp curves :D)

  8. Any chance ohm adjustments could be included on the device ?
sometimes the device forgets the locked resistance and getting it to room temp is hard when weather is harsh or its hot, which requires manual adjustment from the escribe app, problem is you can't bring a laptop where ever you are, being able to perform vital functions on the device while on the road is essencial for temp control.

To go to the bit more extreme makeover, maybe some inspiration from smok could be used, 3 clicks to bring up a settings menu where all adjustments could be made, possibly also temp coefficient (i know we would'nt be able to load csv files, but the escribe app could have an export to temp coeff calculated from the csv. could allow for quick googles on a phone to get the right coeff or having them noted down on a peice of paper.

TBH i love this chip, its alot better than my old x cube II, but a few features are lacking to make it more independant from the application.
some stuff may be impossible to implement, but others it's just a matter of having the right idea's and the time to develop it.

Any chance we could get a bit of a spoiler for what's in the planning for the update(s) ?

  9. update:

there is still high instability with the resistance under temp control, however this seams to only happen when the mod is cold now.
after waking up this morning temp control did not work, so i vaped in wattage mode (thanks to its stainless steel it's possible), once the mod got a bit warm it started working again.
does the chip use board temp or "room temp" to calculate the tempreture in some sort of way ?

  10. Try a higher temp, it will stop treating the coil as temp sensing if it does not increase temp by at least 150 degrees F in the first second, I know that your temp is greater than that + room temp, but it may get you closer to finding the solution.  Also I would lower the wattage so when this happens you are not getting that much power.

I increased the tempreture to 200C and reduced the resistance manually to 0.42Ohm's and it seams more stable now.
Stainless steel seams rather unstable for it to need manual adjustment after coil change. for this i mean ie if i am forced to change coil while at work i would be forced to configure via escribe before its stable.

(i did dryburn and leave the ecig for approx 30 mins before locking the ohm's but adjustment was still needed)

  11. I seam to be having troubles getting temp control to work as stable as possible.
When running in temp mode (i am using csv from steam-engine for stainless steel 316), the resistance jumps up to over 1 ohm when my resistance is at 0.44 cold.

after it reached over 1 ohm in temp mode i quickly activated watt mode and it states 0.5 ohm's live, going back to temp mode its over 1 ohm again.

Something's wrong and it does not sound coil related, more software related, could someone help me with this ?

    edit i have a wismec dna200
