  1. Just checking in with a minor scaling issue in the monitor display section of the latest internation Linux release.  Kind of a blast from the past as I've looked around a bit and didn't find an option for resolution, pun intended.

I'm using LMDE6 on this rig, the monitor is completely functional, just the scaling is off a little, likely because I use fractional scaling at 150%, old guys eyes.

No biggy really, just a heads-up.

The firing pad in this pic is off on the right side on the table. They break off from the plastic frame. Why they used plastic arms to act as a spring, I'll never know. Some have just glued the arms back on. But I would guess it would just break again. It might work by tossing the pad away and just using it without.

Your picture helped me out in a huge way, Bill! My hyperion was sitting for months until moments ago. A pocket knife blade between the button's house and the body of the mod with a little friendly persuasion in a few areas to break loose the adhesive and the actuator plate released.

After trimming the broken plastic "spring" parts away (the two small legs from both sides), I used about half a drop of contact adhesive to glue the plastic actuator that broke away to the interior of the switch's plate and we're back in business.

    Thank you sir!

  3. I thought I'd take another run at an MX Linux install being it's Debian based with SP50us, it didn't fly and SP50int didn't either.

I checked all the prerequisites which were already installed, gave the .run file permission through properties and Gdebi-gtk said (Could not open 'SetupEscribe2_SP50_US.run') same with SP50_INT

Said something about the file could be corrupted or I don't have permission... I do have administrative permission and was signed in.

As many years as I've used Linux (since Ubuntu 9.1) I should understand the Terminal prompts better than I do but I don't. Got script?

I'm not the VM type and already have Escribe on this notebook in the Linux Mint 20.2 drive so it's no big deal, just doing a little testing with the possibility of convenience in not rebooting while I'm in MX Linux drive.

    Edit:

I went looking for terminal prompts and finally got Escribe installed on MX Linux " MX-19.4_x64 patito feo" the information I found was on YouTube, try at your own risk!

No, I've not tested the suite in Linux Mint 🙁, I use Ubuntu 22.04 and it works fine, it should work in Mint without problems as it is a derivative distro of Ubuntu.

    Thank you for the reply!

LMDE 5 is different as it's Linux Mint "Debian Edition" where most or all Linux Mint distros are Ubuntu based.

I've been using Escribe on Linux Mint Ubuntu versions for quite a while. Ubuntu is getting a bit bloated for older slower system and Debian is generally very stable and fairly light weight is my reason for the interest.

I have read of the new Debian installer thanks to @James again which I may have to make a run at once my RAM and SSD arrive. Yep me buying DDR2 in 2023, go figure! LOL!

  5. Checking in to see if anyone has installed on Linux Mint LMDE 5 yet? I haven't even test driven it yet.

My old desk top is now my entertainment center server temporarily and Evolv Escribe might be a nice option.

Sep. 2008 built HP Pavilion Dual Core Pentium E2200 boasting a whole 3GB DDR2 RAM, same old 500GB HHD. Yes, if it were butterfly inter-netting they'd all get away!

THX for adding that tip.  I haven't modded anything for several years but this one peaked my interest.

    No sweat!

The only reason I bought this mod was it looked to have the potential for this swap if the original circuit didn't pan out for me.

The only other part that's a little tricky is widening the bed for the display. It seems to be a pretty soft ABS plastic and can be carved with a knife easily. I did just that, took my time at it with a knife, that was the longest part of the process.

  7. One part of the assembly was missing in the video, sliding the circuit board and plastic parts into the mod body. With the dust protection for the display and silicone button gaskets this can be frustrating. The scotch tape trick works well here.

A piece of scotch tape a little more than three times the length of the height of the mod folded sticky side to sticky side with no wrinkles makes for a reasonably good tool for the process. Similar thin plastic that won't stretch or tear will work too, scotch tape is just a common household Item.

Slide your folded tape through the mod with a little sticking out the 510 end, as you slide the circuit board and plastic parts in the tape will help your parts slide through the mod body until the parts are near their final position. Once near the final position, hold the plastic parts at the battery entry end and pull the tape out from either end.  I pulled mine out the 510 end of the mod.

Just wanted to add that to your thread for those who may come to read. It gives them a lot of info they may want...  Great video by the way....😊

    Fine job you're doing sir.

The video I posted isn't mine. I believe the gentleman's name is Stuart and he's over the other side of the pond.

Outside of the U.S, probably stealthvape, or modmaker. Both in the U.K
Hopefully they'll use discreet packaging. During non pandemic times, I've had Royal Mail deliveries take anywhere from less than a week to two weeks to Canada 🇨🇦

    Thanks Wayneo!

Being electronics I'd hope to manage this state side honestly, I'm not saying what I'm putting it into. 😉

I may have blazed through Stealthvape already and only seen the large screens if memory serves me.  I was wrong, Stealth does have them in stock.

  10. I bought into the Kizoku Techmod and what was delivered was for the most part complete garbage, maybe just the luck of the draw, I don't know.

It wouldn't even vape consistently in voltage mode so the somewhat intended circuit swap might just happen.

Not sure it's worth a DNA 60 swap honestly but the titled charging/data circuit board could make the task a lot easier. Odds are with the hole at the angle it is this isn't going to pan out well but pulling it off could be an accomplishment? I am my own trouble maker! 😁

Maybe a tiny breakout board would work.

With a portion of the mounting rails removed from the 60 it should stack on threaded rods off the stripped original circuit board leaving the switches to be tapped off the traces.

I have the threaded rod and nuts around here somewhere. It'll take a small screen display and some (fingers crossed!) minor modification of the 510's center pin. Yeah, that's another thing, some atomizers don't make contact being the center pin sits so low.

So please enjoy this opportunity to take part in my masochism, we can play together this way!   😆

    The offensive item removed.

Im not the best person to be able to explain a problem and should of put in more information, i have heard of a cold solder joint in the past, hoping its not that.
i have attached a picture ( hopefully it works) of the mod. Shame because its a great mod. Thank-you for your time 😊

I didn't read into the thread but it may help you being it states resistance issues. I'm familiar with the look of these mods and it's a subjective thing.

Yes i dowloaded the theme so i had replay if i wanted to use it but in the watts profile i use for n80 i disable replay, Sorry for the confusion will edit post.

No worries, with so many variables I try to take in all information.

My best guess at this point would be a cold or incorrect solder joint. I'm not familiar with this particular mod and its construction as to be able to look at the solder work done. As well as making sure your coil connections are firmly fastened may avoid looking into the mod itself.

    Your first post mentions Replay.

I recently bought a Prisma DNA 75c, i have downloaded the Evlolv replay theme on to it. My problem is once it has locked i unlock it and everytime it shows check atomiser from 2 to 5 times then it will fire and be ok until it locks again.

I have checked the atty is tight and tried other atties aswell but still does the same thing, I downloaded another theme to check it wasnt that and i am now stumped.

Any help would be much appreciated please.

Earlier I mentioned room temperature. Your atty and mod should be at room temperature when reading the ohms resistance for the first time the atomizer is connected to the mod.
